  1. Dont have a go at the NCFC fans, I feel their hurt, on a positive note only 2 places left for relegation next year now lol. Very good appointment and with backing will be a great year, wouldn't it be great to finish above the bin dippers as well, can see it happening, The Lions to roar again. Thank you goes to Randy and Paul, also a thanks to Alex Mccleash for putting us in a position a year early where we can now get players and look forward to the next season with enthusiasm but with a bit of reality thrown in, people may not see it but Alex did as he was asked - (Just)
  2. Christ these threads get locked quicker than my wifes draws, Lambert is the best choice now, has been very quiet about him so it may just happen. Wonder what RM will be thinking when he has to sell his best players again before the season starts.
  3. It isn't the size of the club that will make a difference but the ambition and backing of the club, The Villa opportunity will be way too good for either RM or PL to turn down as it will satisfy their own requirements and progression.
  4. Hardly the kind of ambition by the club to keep him is it, he will want more than that as he quite clearly states, reading between the lines on this he seems a bit frustrated.
  5. A lot depends on the fixture list, It is without doubt players will be brought in and will need time to bed in, as for starting to overhaul our squad this was started last year and the number of people leaving is almost there. now we have the fun of seeing who is coming in.
  6. Yes - yesterdays facts, move on. different teams different years, not a valid like for like comparison. Show me OGS stats or MON stats(prior to Villa). We live in the here and now, The question is can they do well for us, can they work to a budget, have they got the experience, do they have the right team behind them. only time can show this not what they have done in the past. If you look at stats then there are very few managers throughout europe who could be chosen. you have a choice of picking someone who has done it although this doesnt always work or pick a young manager who can build his team and do it.
  7. I can not for the life of me see why people give players so much stick and make assumptions on them based on no facts, we do not know the reasons for underperforming, we do not know what the relationship with the manager was, sometimes this has an effect, as players get older they get wiser learning more about the game in readyness to become managers, they have worked for a few managers and can see the good from the bad, by all accounts for the last 2 years they have all been complaining about the lack of coaching, corner and free kick stats prove this has been the case, the right manager and team may just transform these players back to their best.
  8. Both Steve Bruce & Paul Jewel got them higher up the league than Martinez Times change, I have never seen leagues like the last 2 seasons with so little points difference between the top 4 and bottom of the league, the league used to be 3 tier but is now to an extent 2 tier, ever team seems capable of beating any other team where no one is scared at having a crack at the big boys, there is not alot of difference in the bottom 10 teams. It used to be if you play the bottom teams you expect 3 points, not even the top teams can rely on this now. Hell if we won 4 more games then we could have been in the top 10, this was achievable if we had took chances and did not set out to draw. There is a reason steve Bruce is out of work and RM is in demand.
  9. with 1 year left on their contracts they wont be cruisng but trying to make a point, Who is to say there performances werent bad just to get rid of the manager, for 2 years now we seem to do just do enough to survive, yet when we need to do it we can.
  10. We all want the best man for the job but live in dream land, we all myself included were desperate to get OGS, unproven, lacking in experience but we still wanted him, why - because a gut feeling told us he was right for us, I have the same feeling about Martinez but he is less of a risk than OGS. I would trust RM more in the transfer market than OGS. he can get players for the right wages at Wigan with there ambition so he can do even better here. I dont want Lambert as we would just spend all the time comparing him to MON and go back to playing that type of football.
  11. Who says we are not going to buy players, yes we have been a selling club, but why do you constantly have a go at the club for this, If a top player like Yorke, downing Milner Barry and YounG decide to move on to compete in Europe and collect cups how can the club stop them, in the list of players i put which 1 has not won something since leaving apart from young who is in with a shout with Man U. having a player who does not want to be at the club is counter productive, If these players wanted to move to a Wigan, Sunderland or Everton then I would agree there was problems within our club and we lacked ambition, Just ask Arsenal a successful club how hard it is to keep a player who wants to go.
  12. How many managers throughout history have not flirted with relegation, how well teams perform tends to reflect their ambition, wigan were never going to try and get into Europe but to miss relegation and be mid table, also to make enough money to survive, with their fan base and income that means selling players every year, to remain in the premier league every year to me is a hell of an achievement,
  13. Yes but we all shop where our finances allow, Every year he has to start the season minus his best players but he always gets them firing in the end, imagine what he could do if he could add to them players and build a team.
  14. Here is my take on it, Bin dipper job and Villa job are totally different, Bin dippers have an established squad that under perform, as such new man may have to buy a couple of players and sell a couple, the main problem is because it is established the job will be to make the top 4 and have a good cup run minimum, high pressure with little reward as you are mearly progressing an established team, on top of that you have to contend with existing long term players, old players and pundits shouting how the dippers style is this and that blah de blah. in my opinion a no win situation for a young manager, crist even the England manager with his experience failed. On the other hand at Villa the board and ex manager have done a reasonable job of clearing the decks and lowering fan expectation, I expect to see 3 more players leave over the summer to finally rid the dressing room of bad apples. The new manager can now buy a new team with players he wants and who are hungry for success. I honestly believe that significant funds will be made available for players but the same mistakes with wages will not be made again, we were out of control and Randy quite rightly pulled the reigns in, but he always said he would have another go at pushing on when it was financially viable, i believe now is that time, Do not look at it as we are Martinez second choice as this is incorrect, we are just another option but we are a better one for him at this time in his career. Do I think he can do a good job for us - hell yes, I think he is the best man for the job, forget Wigan and he did this and that as it is irrevelant as it is part of his training, the question is does he have the skill, knowlege and desire for the job and is he a of integrity a man who wont move on in a year and will want to see the job through.
  15. what an entertaining post....so bloody right. What a neurotic lot we have become. ps.... is it still 9 months for a baby?...come on God get yer finger out. Christ I knew we wanted a young manager but thats just not right.
  16. so we all believe RM would not cope with the pressure of the Liverpool job and would take to the Villa like a duct to water, On next weeks instalment of soap ---- -
  17. 4 clubs wanting managers as well as others in Europe - why show youre hand.
  18. Why do we constantly listen to the drivel that is the media, they like the rest of us have not got a clue and are purely speculating, it has been said we have been interviewing now for 2 weeks and OGS debacle proves this, How many others that were not spotted by luck have we heard of? none We all slam the club for lack of inaction without knowing the facts only rumours, I can not believe we look at the odds to see who is favourite in the hope some ITK has a clue and has backed heavily, the club stated the type of manager they are after and we must trust them to do this, we should leave the bad feedback and having a go at the club until it is warented, again with OGS none of us know the true story but are prepared to attack the club for doing it wrong, Who would want to be chairman lol.
  19. None of us has any idea what goes on behind the scenes at the club but are basing our opinions on rumours and our own opinions, At the time how many people thought GED was a bad appointment, I know I thought it was good and believed he could take us further, in fact if it was not for his medical condition he would still be here and i do not believe last season would have been as bad, He also had and was happy to work with the financial constraints, we have all heard the rumours of players he was going to bring in, I believe these rumours as it would be consistant with the man. Because of having to pay him off we then had even more constraints on the finances, Yes in hindsight we can all see that hiring the ginger one was a mistake which to be fair they have also stated, but at the time in the position the club was in and the time frame before the season the club had to act fast. This time they have promised to try something different, yet when they try to take time to get it right we complain of inaction, No one knows who we are looking at and are all guessing, I do not believe that certain ITK have a clue, they have not approached any premier league managers to our knowlege but we all say we dont want him, him etc. Give them a chance, back off and see who they pick before slamming them, they have a hard job and moaning and deriding them only shows the club up.
  20. No way on this earth will it be AVB. way to high in wages, will want too big a kitty and an ego bigger than Faulkners, Never the twain shall meet
  21. Its Going to be somebody like this, We have tried the norm and are ready to try something different as in OGS, we would know if any prem manager had been approached at least by rumour but it is way too quiet, Reckon we should be looking at young foriegn managers doing well in their leagues for a clue.
  22. I definitely think that the new manager will be someone who is totally off our radar, this is for the reason that apparently they are interviewing a few candidates and we have not heard any clubs saying they have given permission for us to speak with any manager. Either it is someone out of work or somebody out of this country with a club that can keep stum. any premier league team would be shouting from the rafters if they had been approached. Guess we may be in for a suprise.
  23. I really believe that Man U are in decline, they are tied financially so they can not compete with the neighbours and with the fair play rules they may struggle as they need a few new top class players, I think they will want a new manager in a year so for OGS it will be to soon, I still think there will be a suprise with the new manager and a name that comes out we haven't mentioned dont ask me why its just a feeling I have.
