  1. We was actually on 20 points (19th) 4 points off bottom of the league QPR. Sunderland were 11th on 29 points. 23 points last season would have got us to 16th 3 points of relegation zone. So to simplifie, we are only doing better cause other teams are much worst this season, so fact is no real improvement for Lambert im afraid! You've gone about 3 games ahead of this point last season.
  2. Maybe, or the top half are better. At the same point, Utd were 7 points clear of City, who were 6 points clear of Spurs. 9th was only 11 points ahead of 18th, whereas this year 9th are 7 points ahead of 10th. This year 6th are only 8 points behind top, last year, 18.
  3. 5, but we were 18th, had -25 goal difference and had 4 points less than we currently do. EDIT: well technically that's at the same date after 22 games, after 21 games we were 6 points above and in 17th, but the rest still applies
  4. No he should be sold ASAP I have seen zero evidence that he is a premiership player or even a championship player Yet he struts around BMH pretending he is one thanks to the manager He was a gamble, cost next to nothing, if he's not done the business by the time his contract runs out then he'll be off. Not like we're relying on him to do the business now is it? He scored 10 goals in 83 games in league 2, he's never going to make it here, Delfouneso should be ahead of him in the pecking order The same Delfouneso who has an almost identical goals to game ratio as Bowery? The same Delfouneso who whenever he played strolled about the pitch and looked like he didn't give a shit? Delfouneso has the natural ability to make it in the Premier League, but never will as he doesn't have the work ethic to do so. Bowery won't make it either but at least he tries. If it's a straight up swap between two players who won't make it in the Premier League, and it's a choice between the talented one who doesn't work hard enough, or the try hard who isn't quite good enough technically, I'd rather have the try hard.
  5. Give it a rest. ZZZZZ Negative yeah. But someone give me a positive out of the bold comments pleeeese! Although there isn't much to be positive about at the moment, I'll try answer your question. 1 - Not been great recently, but we showed against Arsenal that we are capable of doing well against teams and playing some good stuff. 2 - We have, IMO, one of the best strikers in the league when on form, who finally scored and is starting to look like the Benteke we wanted to keep in the summer. We have, again IMO, one of the best GK's in the league. Also, Vlaar is probably our best CB we've had since Laursen. Delph has shown this season that he can be good when on form and Bacuna has been really impressing me recently. Others need to improve and are nowhere near as good as they can be like the end of last season. 3 - The transfer window isn't over. Yes, Holt is uninspiring and a transfer that you'd rather not happen, but he's not the worst signing ever. Remember players like Djemba-Djemba, Salifou and Berson have played for us within the last 10 years. Also, consider that last season, in a much worse position, we hit form after a similar (and IMO bleaker) period. All started by a good performance and a good goal by Benteke to start off his good form, despite not winning the game. Sound familiar?
  6. Not a defender of the signing, just don't see why everyone going so over the top with their reactions. Trust me, as I've said a few times now, I'll be very unhappy if this is our only signing. But there's over two weeks left of the window, so there's no need to get our panties in a twist just yet.
  7. Different type of player. Because 1 (the one he's replacing) has a broken leg, Helenius isn't the same type of striker as Kozak and still getting to grips with league, and Bowery is that great. Plus Gabby is utilised as a wide man as is Weimann (who's been cack all season). So I count 1 first team striker, 2 young backups and 2 wide men, plus one out for the rest of the season. Holt most likely won't start, he's a Kozak replacement. But you know, **** the logic behind the signing, let's slag off the club! EDIT: I'll add, I'm not over the moon with the signing, but it makes sense, as long as it isn't our only signing, which I doubt. It makes sense? Signing a player not fit or good enough to play in the league below makes sense? Yes. One of our strikers has broken his leg. We have identified a similar striker who would cost very little and probably on lowish wages. We signed him on a 6 month deal. He most likely won't start ahead of Benteke and is better than our current Kozak backup, Bowery. It makes sense. Or we could try actually playing football and use the players we have. Crazy thought but maybe try that instead of hoofing it to a man not fit enough or good enough to perform at championship level. I guess you'd need a good manager for that though. As I said, **** the logic behind the signing.
  8. Well, it's been said he's having a medical tomorrow by a Sky journo, and they asked Lambert after they game who didn't deny and it suggested that we were about to sign him.

  11. Oh come on, how naive are you? Gareth Barry and Scott Parker are experienced and also very good footballers, Grant Holt is of course "experienced" since he is turning 33 in three months - but he has only two seasons in the Premier League and he is a crap footballer. Two years ago, yes then I would have taken him on since he was robust and on top of his game. Now? 32 years old and barely getting a game for Wigan? Same with Wes Hoolahan, is he really the best we can get? The answer is no. They are the best Lambert can get a hold of, basically because he has no nous in the market. It's fine though, obviously he is a cover for the injured Kozak and he will probably cost next to nothing anyway. However, it is a big, big sign of our intentions. As a fan you always dream of something big to happen, that we suddenly start to invest again and that our team develops together in an extraordinary way. But as it is, we are just a team trying to stay in the Premier League. Everything above 18th is acceptable so to speak. No not naive, just not shitting myself over a 6 month deal and pointing out the ridiculous hypocrisy on here. People on here wanted experience, we get it, they complain because it's not the experienced player they wanted, all whilst dismissing the logical reasoning behind getting said player just because it doesn't fit in with their argument. A short term loan move that will probably cost next to nowt and is an obvious replacement for a player who broke his leg just over a week ago, not much to shout about but not one to cause such outcry. Would we have signed him if Kozak didn't break his leg? I doubt it personally. As I said earlier on, if this is our ONLY signing, then I'll be hugely disappointed.
  12. I've seen no-one who is cheering this and getting excited, only over-reactions from people who don't like it. And with every signing, I'm going to give him a chance to play first before judging him.
  13. Weren't people complaining that we weren't getting experience in the summer? And now we get some, people are moaning?
  14. No-one's getting excited, but people are hugely over-reacting to a short term loan deal that will most likely cost us peanuts.
  15. Wasting an apparent lack of funds? But we're only loaning him, surely not on that much at Wigan, and we probably won't pay all his wages.
  16. But before that, they didn't create anything, and only really broke through thanks to 2 horrendous mistakes. They may have sat back after their goals, but they weren't that threatening beforehand either.
  17. Other than that 1 minute in the first half, I thought we were decent. Very positive signs at the end too, Benteke starting to play well again?
  18. As a loan deal, I don't mind it. Permanent, **** off! Kozak's broken his leg, we need a short term replacement, and as Con said, if it's out only signing then I'll be hugely disappointed. Nothing to do with being broke. It's a short term fix to a short term problem, i.e. Kozak's injury.
  19. Benteke will be much better when he gets better service. Actually any service. With the midfield we have we could have Ronaldo up front and he won't do anything chasing hoof balls all game. As they showed before the match, he's had the same amount of chances since Sept as he did when he was in good form.
  20. a report in the Mirror with no quotes? Welcome Grant!!!
  21. Fortunately every team in the bottom half is absolutely embarrassingly bad. This is possibly the worst 20 teams there has been in the top flight for decades, so we might get away with it. The Premier League is pretty bad now considering everyone likes to remind us it's the best league in the world
  22. Been a shite game all round. Neither team really created anything apart from when we decided Arsenal should be winning...
  23. Apart from that 1 minute, we've been fairly good. Good to hear Baker's looking better too.
