  1. Broke Readings unbeaten home form, broke Fulhams unbeaten away form....these are the records I like.
  2. Reading is about as Cockney as Eric Black is a master tactician.....Mockney often but cockney no.
  3. Well, taking my 9 year old for his first competitive away match.....and, after him seeing 15 games.....his first win, he's happy as Larry He was in awe of the vibe and it took me right back for sure.... Adomah was my MOM purely for his first half performance , having to do so much due to such a dire lack of movement from anyone else, looks more like the Adomah that skinned us in the M/boro friendly. Gollini just gets better and better, some really good saves in the second half and of course the penalty save and the rebound that he couldn't do anything about Hutton had a better game than more recently and even if it's not good enough, he does apply himself Chester was the best I've seen him TBH and Baker also did his job well Cissoko, I do feel sorry for him, he reminds me of the kid that's so eager to please and in doing so, causes murders. Bacuna was frustrating in the main but when he woke up and decided he should take some responsibility, he did, as soon as he started pressing, Reading started making mistakes. Had a half decent shot on target in the 2nd half and could perhaps of had another if he took less touches. Good free kick too. Gardner was a bit disappointing at first, wasn't making any strides to win free balls, wasn't closing anyone down but I started to get the impression that if he committed himself, Jedi might not have been prepared. Jedinak was frustrating as hell, for a big guy, he doesn't win many headers Kodjia, Love him, great control on his first touch and doesn't stop running, has a good relationship with the fans, even though he needed us to encourage him off the pitch quicker. Gestede....like WTAF! He has one speed and I walk faster than it, the formation was made for him but he was miles behind play, has a really poor footballing brain IMO, plenty of times he could've put himself out to press the ball, if he was told not to then fair enough but he seemed to show no real desire which I hope isn't the case. Subs. I felt the subs could've happened sooner and I guess it was a toss up between Tish for Jedi or Amavi for Ali. Ayew came on and changed the game, he's so positive, Bruce claimed that the fans helped seal the win with ten minutes to go, to a degree that's correct, everyone felt better when Ayew came on, including the players, all of a sudden they had confidence when he was on the ball, that he wouldn't lose it in an instant Amavi, obvious swap for Cissoko and while I really like him, I havent quite seen the brilliance that a lot of others have, this was good game for him and he does link up well woth Ayew, does get caught out on his way back to defend though. Mccormac, Nearly scored within a minute of being on the pitch, great footballing brain, great movement, between him and Ayew, the royals defense went a bit awry. Think I need to bring the boy to more away games. He loved it, thanks Villa faithful.
  4. Reminded me of the good Thomas Sorenson tonight, shame about the penalty rebound but he made 3 really good saves in the 2nd half.
  5. He started off pretty badly but grew into it, missed a few opportunities to press but I get a sense he doesn't entirely trust Jedi to clear anything up.
  6. The game was crying out for him, I'd have fancied him to come on a bit sooner but it matters not.
  7. For the benefit of anyone else The Black Boy Shinfield Rd., Shinfield, Reading, RG2 9BP is less than a mile from the Park and Ride at the Foster Wheeler building. The Swan Basingstoke Rd., Three Mile Cross, Reading, RG7 1AT is probably just over a 20 minute walk from the ground, it used to be the London Irish home pub so they are familiar with supporters. World Turned Upside Down, 387 Basingstoke Rd, Reading RG2 0JE is about 15 mins but it's on the outskirts of the roughest part of town. This one and Trooper Potts are pretty good to get to from the town, the other 2 are good if driving in and getting the park and ride.
  8. The monks is right in the town mate, at best it's a 45 minute walk, about 3 miles.

  10. Will you be catching a bus from there mate? There's a new boozer just recently opened nearer the ground. The Trooper Potts on Rose Kiln Lane if you wanted something closer by.
  11. Thanks, he's not really that worried, he's a villan through and through, he's actually a bit peed off with the coaching at the academy....put it this way, their hearts aren't really in it. Southampton asked about him but I'm not sure it's fair to have to take him there a couple of nights a week, he's only 9 and it's a good 100 mile round trip.....just a shame we're not near B6
  12. Got tickets, bringing my 9 year old for his first competitive away game. He was in a bit of a quandary as he's currently a goalie in the RFC pre-academy. I work up the road so will be parking with ease too.
  13. Will be interesting too see if Steve Clarke has to step in and if he becomes all animated all of a sudden.
  14. I suppose we should consider who Wyness would think appropriate, I'm sure he'd have an authoritative input on the matter....along with Steve Round Apart from Moyes, who else would he have enjoyed working with?
  15. That could also be a fair assessment. Yours Sincerely Mr Clutching At Straws Berkshire.
  16. Maybe you're right but I do feel the inability of Paddy to let him buy any players, the fact that we had some spiteful rocket polishers in the squad and Lerner was getting romantically nourished elsewhere might've been mitigating factors
  17. I can't help feeling that Garde happened at the wrong time, certain individuals in the dressing room and their insolence, Paddy Reilly and his influence on Lerner and how stitched Garde was in the transfer market. I'd wouldn't be adverse to giving him another go * *subject to who else is available
  18. Covered his defensive duties well today too.
  19. Well, he's sorted out our problem with bottling the second half....we did it in the first instead. Going back to 4-3-3 for the second half made all the difference, everyone was playing with confidence when they had an idea of their roles. I did watch RDM closely today and he did holler out 3 times so that's an improvement. Fat Spanish Waiter was constantly telling his 2nd in command to get into the tech box and give instruction. I still think it's right that he's given this season, I just want to believe he's bothered.
  20. Hello, first proper post. Figured here's as good a place as any (I have introduced myself in the welcome thread) The only thing that worries me is looking across and seeing inaction in the dugout, it just brings back too many horrid memories. I'll never forget seeing Wilkins sat there almost looking on with bemused joy at the 11 headless chickens during some of our games last season, sat there thinking what an easy pay check. If RDM isnt the sort to show a lot of passion in the technical area, some one needs to be. I just don't see any passion from the dugout, how can there not be, I watch my sons under 11's and nearly pass out from the adrenaline rush. I just don't get how you can profess to care and not even show it....a bit..... and I'm very disappointed in Steve C for this. Maybe I'm the geezer that's been cheated on too many times and I'm looking for the next lie, but something isn't right in that dug out.

    Hi

Hi all, Went to create an account and was informed that I'd registered yonks ago. Anyway, i've been a long time follower of VT and of all the forums, this has to be the best, good balance of dour, positive and nuts which suits me. Sorry for snooping for so long but often, the things I disagree with are succinctly counter argued with and I felt I couldn't add much more. Berkshire Lions club member based in Reading but been a villan since I was 5....I'm 39 now so I've seen the best and the worst, I was lucky enough to have relatives not far from electric avenue who took me to see a few games and of course, the memories of the atmosphere in the area when we won THAT cup will never leave me. I've 2 sons, who through their own choice have become villans, one's 4 and is just following his big bro who's 9. Eldests first match was when he was a mascot (he's been a JV life member since 5) against the hammers, he came out with his then hero Guzan and watched us get beat 2-0 I think it was?? Couple of weeks after that I took him to see the villa legends get battered by a considerably younger Maidenhead United. He's come with me a few times but not seen us win and he's still right behind the team and gives all of his Liverpool/UTD/City/Chelsea and now foxes supporting mates stick when they wind him up....he simply asks how many times they've even seen their teams stadium.....though he got unstuck with one kid who's dad is actually a Chelsea physio....... We had a slight wobble last week as he's in the Reading Pre academy as a keeper and was concerned that he'd piss a few people off by coming into the away end for the match.....he's over that now. So, where I am now. Love Xia, like the look of the new team but we need better options in mid field, I actually think a 4-4-2 diamond would suit us now but I'm a fisheries manager not a footy one so what do I know? Concerned about the inaction in the dugout, flashes in the last two games of last season which worries me and makes me think that perhaps SC is just coasting as he's got a good little number. anyway, bet you weren't expecting a bloomin' essay.
