  1. I have no idea what app you are talking about. Assuming you've not installed an alarm app, Tap applications, then clock, then alarm.
  2. Tbh I'd pretty much stopped using it. It was still advertising last season's season tickets at the end of the season
  3. I've just uninstalled the official AVFC app. WTF does the new update need to be able to make calls and/or send texts?
  4. Which app did you set it in?
  5. and they'll still work when you replace your xbox in the future.

Still getting technology news from people who don't believe the moon landings happened?
  7. It's not offering more choice though, it's avoiding having to make choices. As I read what's written above it's making all the characters able to do everything. You used to have to specialise and if you wanted to play in different ways, you had to level another character. It's all easy mode now. Perhaps I'm not understanding the game, but I stopped playing when they started diluting the classes. A cloth wearer heals OR does damage. An armour wearer tanks. A rogue presses his button. I remember the arguments when the guild used to try and make Sam heal when he was specced as a shadow priest. Nays posted a video ages back showing him tanking with his warlock, that was when I realised I wouldn't be going back.
  8. So they've previously removed class specialities and now build specialities. Might as well have all the characters the same and all the fight actions do random animations. I suppose they can go for the console market now they've dumbed it down so it's not only rogues with a single button. Pity.
  9. The site runs fine 95% (or more) of the time. It slows down during matches and in periods like now when there are 2000 people online clicking refresh and hoping that there'll be some transfer news, even though all the deal makers are sat at home watching tv. The costs of making it work the other 5% of the time are rather large. If I could find some time to work on it, I could improve it, but there will always be times when it'll run slow. Right now I have other things I'd rather be doing. Sorry.
  10. If you go to Manchester on the weekends, it is in full tourist mode. It's not a pleasant city to spend weekday evenings in, even though I was living just off Piccadilly Gardens on my most recent stay (for nearly three years). There was almost no night life outside of Canal Street and the city centre was dead. I'm sure it's very different on the weekends. Manchester was a land of building sites at that time but all cities go through spells like that. To summarize, I didn't make the claim that Birmingham was better, just that I thought you were exaggerating your claims for Manchester. I don't think there's a huge difference between the two. If anything Birmingham continues to improve while Manchester seems to have plateaued, but I don't visit Manchester often enough to claim this as a fact..
  11. I have lived in Manchester and completely disagree. You sound like you've only been a tourist there which means you aren't comparing like-for-like.
  12. by John We may be propping up the rest of the Premier League at the moment but we are still in this cup competition so we can still dream of winning it however unrealistic that might seem at the moment! This was a no win game that we did win. Had we lost the press would have had a field day and the pressure on the team would have increased considerably on what it already is. But as we won it will just be said we were expected to do that anyway. As we did back in 1994 we have knocked Tranmere out of this cup competition. We did so at a much later stage back then and we were both better teams then than we are now. But a win is a win and it was a vital one in that it will give us a little breathing space and should bring a little bit of confidence back into the team. We did not need to go above second gear to win this one so the jury is still out concerning whether we actually do have a third or any higher gear this season. Our defence was not tested and our midfield was risk averse so the service to the forwards was again lacking given this was a game in which we had the lion’s share of the possession. Could we have a decent run in this competition? Given a kind draw or two, some investment in the squad and our manager getting the squad into shape as the season continues there is a chance. After all worse sides than we currently look have won it in the recent past (I seem to recall a local team that went out of the competition last night did so a couple of years ago for example)! My player ratings from a game that has left us still in a winnable cup competition that we have a happy habit of winning but which has been absent from our trophy cabinet for too long are: Brad Guzan – 6 – Welcome back Brad after that brief period spent off the wage bill. Brad was rarely called into action but did the necessary when he was called upon to do so. Eric Lichaj - 6 – A decent performance and he was keen to get forward. Matthew Lowton – 6 – Given a game in the centre when I think he would have been better to have had another game at full back to help him in settling into that position at our football club. But we are not spoilt for choice at the moment in the centre of our defence or come to think of it anywhere else so our manager had little option given Vlaar was to be absent. Did a solid enough job alongside Nathan in the circumstances. Nathan Baker – 7 – Nathan was solid and commanding particularly in the air albeit against an attack that offered little or no goal threat. He could well be one of our youngsters who can kick on and become a first team regular in the fullness of time as he does not look out of place in the centre of our defence. Enda Stevens - 6 – Substituted on 67 minutes having shown some early promise on his first home start and having had a part to play in our first goal as well as trying to give us some much needed width when he got forward. Fabian Delph - 6 – Some signs of encouragement last night as he imposed himself on the game more than he has done for some time now and he now needs to bring this forward when he comes up against stiffer opposition than was the Tranmere midfield that he came up against last night. Scored our opening goal on 37 minutes hitting a loose ball into the net from inside the box after the keeper had denied Bent. Chris Herd – 6 – Substituted on 76 minutes to give Burke a run out. Scored our second to take the game away from our opponents on 65 minutes when he hit home the ball after the keeper had pushed a shot from Ireland out. Solid in the middle. Barry Bannan – 7 – Maintained possession last night but that might have been expected of him given we were up against opponents that are plying their trade 2 divisions below the one he is operating in. Hit an awful pass back on 10 minutes that required 3 blocks the first of them by him to avert the danger. Shot wide of the post from the edge of the box on 14 minutes, hit a free kick just over the bar on 28 minutes and hit another shot wide on 52 minutes after Ireland had turned the ball back to him from the edge of the box. Needs to use this improved performance to build his confidence, consistency and performance levels to the level they were some time ago now. Stephen Ireland – 8 – MOTM - Our main creative source by some distance last night. He has the capacity to run games like this and with confidence and regular starts can do the same in league games. Played a nice ball through to Bent on 35 minutes whose shot was kept out by the keeper’s leg and was in turn presented with a shooting opportunity by Bent on 52 minutes when he headed the ball down to him which he hit over the bar. Picked his spot from the edge of the box on 75 minutes but keeper Williams managed to keep it out and had a chip over the keeper ruled out. Andreas Weimann – 6 – Worked hard enough as usual but has had more effective games in his short first team history. Headed a nice ball from Lichaj over on 63 minutes and provided Bent with some much needed company up front and defenders with more than one man to look out for. Darren Bent - 6 – He shoots he scores! Took advantage of slightly less limited service than he has had to date this season by hitting our third on 80 minutes when he thundered the ball into the top corner of the net having been set up by Weimann after some very good work by Ireland. Had looked frustrated early on and some way below par but he got into and contributed more to the game later. Brought down in much the same way that had earned Clark a red on Saturday by Taylor who clipped him to earn a yellow on 27 minutes as he was bearing down on goal. Substitutes: Brett Holman – 6 - Replaced Stevens on 67 minutes and could have done with a start last night for me to help him settle into the team and to give us more width. His nice cut back set up Bent for our third. Charles N’Zogbia – 5 - Replaced Weimann on 71 minutes and again showed odd glimpses of the player he can be albeit in the limited time that he had available. Made the least impact on the game of our three substitutes last night. Graham Burke – 6 – Came on for Herd on 76 minutes and clearly relished the opportunity hitting a shot from the edge of the box that the keeper gathered easily enough moments after his introduction. Looked for the ball and seemed more willing to move forward with it than were some of his more experienced colleagues. Up for the cup Villa and Stay Strong Captain! 13. Fair enough, just cant be bothered to read 9 pages about Neil Armstrong to find out people have already mentioned what I said, oh well Or in other words "I can't be bothered to read about the evidence, my opinion is more important than the facts".
  14. Which experts? They won't go away for the same reason religions won't go away. Because idiots make crap up and fools accept it without any rational thought?
  15. I've just deleted to tech podcasts from my feeds because they has a presenter who said he thought the moon landings were a hoax. I'm not taking tech news from someone so deluded.
  16. I've not heard that before Chindie, a quick browse around led to some maths which made we wince slightly (it is a bank holiday), but palaeontological records and the maths confirm an average increase of orbital separation averaging 30mm per year over the last 600 million years (and a matching slowdown in Earth's rotation). I can't find any references to this number being a surprise. I suspect the media was surprised, but only ancient binary systems become tidally locked. The Earth/Moon binary won't ever become stable (baring something unexpected/disastrous) before the sun expands in about 2 billion years.

There are some spaces for the Birmingham Half Marathon available in the "Team Cure Leukaemia" sticky in the VillaTalk forum.
  18. This is so well known it's even appeared in sitcoms. It wasn't a surprise that the moon is moving away from us, we already knew that. It's what happens when you have tides.
  19. You can't make up facts, to do so is a logical fallacy. We went to the moon. There is no doubt or position for opinion on the matter. It is a provable and demonstrable fact that man landed on the moon. To believe otherwise would require cognitive dissonance of almost religious proportions.
  20. Do you believe your opinion is more important than facts?

  22. In retrospect, were we overplaying this aspect of Android phones?
  23. by John The transfer window slams shut next week and the money must be found now to back our new manager because otherwise our place in this division will again be at serious risk and it might just be too late to be able to turn things around by the time the next window opens! It is perhaps too early to mention the R word unless you are Robbie Savage. But our first home game of the season was nothing less than relegation form and will have added some credence to his prediction for us. Everton could have hit us for six had they been so inclined and our team still bears the scars from last season and our heads drop too readily when we go a goal down. A losing habit is hard to break and Villa Park is no longer a fortress. Everton bossed the game yesterday and we were shown to now be lagging some way behind a team that over recent years we have been very closely matched with. It is fortunate that they took their foot off the pedal with the game won. Yes we may have overspent and paid big wages to claim three successive top six finishes and our owner may have wanted to balance the books but this under investment in the playing side needs to be addressed now and the blinkers need to be taken off because we are regressing on the playing field and becoming a soft touch. You can appoint the best of managers but without backing him in the transfer market he can only do so much. We did not back the last manager and cannot make the same mistake again. On paper we no longer look a stronger team than many we will face this season and Everton are the first of these we have come up against. Injuries have already hit hard and these along with suspensions (the first of which will see Clark absent) will further stretch a squad that is lacking in numbers as well as in experience to the limit during this season. The club has the look of the early 60s and the mid 80s about it for me. I for one had thought that our days of relegation concerns were some way behind us. But we seem to be content to make those same mistakes again and whilst other teams speculate to grow stronger we are overtaken not just by the likes of Manchester City and Spurs but now by Everton and Swansea and this downward spiral needs to be halted. My player ratings from a game that has left us pointless and one place off the bottom are: Shay Given – 5 – Shay will have been as disappointed as we were with their second as he really should have been able to keep Fellaini’s header out. His splendid save on 63 minutes denied Pienaar a second and Everton a fourth. Matthew Lowton - 6 – Matt has made quite a step up and his learning curve will be a steep one. A tough home debut in a team that was much below par. Ron Vlaar – 6 – Ron will need time to become accustomed to the pace of the Premier League. That will not be easy to do at a time when he is expected to hit the ground running and looked upon as the senior player in what is a very inexperienced defence. Ciaran Clark – 5 – Caught Jelavic’s back foot on 57 minutes and was shown a red card as a result. Nathan Baker - 6 – Offered nothing coming forward but what could we reasonably expect of a centre half playing there? He looked far more comfortable when moved into his familiar central defensive role to the extent that the defence seemed tighter after he moved there. Made a great saving tackle on 49 minutes to deny Naismith as he was about to pull the trigger. Charles N’Zogbia – 4 – He is half the player he was at Wigan and after a year with us he really should be doing much more than this. Showed a flash of what he can do on 40 minutes with a good run into the box that ended with him being swamped by defenders but the odd moment is not good enough. Karim El Ahmadi - 6 – MOTM – Hit a speculative shot from around 30 yards that changed direction in flight and left Howard only able to help into the corner of the net for our 74th minute consolation goal. Showed signs particularly after that goal that he could become an influential holding midfield player for us with more games and support from those alongside him. Chris Herd – 5 – Replaced on 59 minutes as we looked to reorganise our defence following the sending off. Solid enough up until then without reaching the performance level he showed so often last season Barry Bannan – 4 – Hit our first shot on target near half time which was easily gathered by Howard but failed to provide the creativity we need in the middle and he really needs to step up to the higher and consistent level of performance that he showed when he was first given a run of games in the team to get in ahead of Ireland. Nathan Delfouneso – 3 – Replaced at half time. Did little to show he can act as reliable cover for our first choice strikers this season or that he should have started ahead of Weimann. This start was his opportunity to show he can still have a future at this football club and it is one of a long line of opportunities that he has failed to grasp. Darren Bent - 5 – Isolated and lacked the service he joined us to get and without service he cannot be effective as he is quite simply there to put chances away and if we do not create any for him he will not turn games like this for us. His one opportunity was a late attempt to turn in the ball after Weimann’s shot had come back off the post and that was blocked by Baines otherwise his main contribution was keeping out Distin’s header with assistance from the bar. Substitutes: Brett Holman – 5 - Replaced Delfouneso at half time and showed a couple of bright moments. Eric Lichaj – 6 – Came on following Clark’s sending off on 59 minutes and was solid enough. Andreas Weimann – 6 - Replaced Bannan on 70 minutes and might just have grabbed a second for us in injury time when Holman’s reverse pass into his path was hit sweetly first time only to come back out off the post. Up the Villa and Stay Strong Captain! John Lewis This post has been promoted to an article
