Greens take Brighton

Caroline Lucas won? Brilliant. Absolutely superb. Really pleased for her and for the Greens.

Yup, best news of the night. Apart from the lack of majority for anyone of course.

So a quick summary - Balls won in the new constituency - Portillo moment? (there will only be one of them :-) ) - Ashcroft is pissed off that his tax fiddle money couldn't buy the election (your "friend" Hague for leader Mr Belize?) - The BNP get smashed (nice) - The greens win a seat (wow) - and all of the Tory party now who were so against electoral reform (which should still happen as been proven tonight) are now left wondering to do a quick U Turn.

Camoron will still probably get the number 10 job but despite every assistance he could get he failed in getting the country to believe in his lies.

PR - only way forward now

Not sure he will get into number 10 as Brown can try and form a Government if he wants.

The electorate seems to be getting more intelligent, maybe it's a combination of the debates and the internet but people seemed more clued up these days. Cameron comes across as a liar but even so, with all the money for the campaign he had available he should have won by miles.

Considering we're 13 years into a hugely unpopular government who have helped to frog-march us into a recession and nobody seems to actively support other than through previous loyalty - it's insane that the Tories are flopping around struggling to get a majority.

But undoubtedly a good thing.

World financial collapse cannot be pinned on Labour

If anyone is interested, our 'rotten borough', i.e. West Worcestershire, was firmly secured by the Ashcroft pennies - an almost 7,000 majority.

A real shame, though the Lib Dem wouldn't have been much better if at all than the Tory bird.

I agree. But they certainly didn't do anything to prevent it when they had the opportunity to do so. I'm sure that any other party in power would have done exactly as they did, but at an election you would then expect that party to be voted out.
