runetune Posted August 7, 2006 Share Posted August 7, 2006 This hole Casino thing has got me thinking , there's two rather large businesses for sale in the Aston Area . 1: Aston Villa F.C 2: Star City Could i be reading into this abit I don't know anymore, but I admit, I had thought Star City was for sale, but wasn't entirely sure. It would certainly make sense if you did want to develop your interest beyond AVFC but...... of course there are a multitude of issues (not least planning) that might stop it in its tracks. I wasn't overly happy with it to begin with, it felt as if it had been rushed. Then having heard he wanted to try and merge with the Padfield consortia makes me even more convinced that Nevilles bid was dead in the water from the moment he put it in. If nothing else Nevilles initial interest pushed the clubs sale onto the radar for many prospective buyers. Who knows, if Neville hadn't expressed an interest perhaps bidders like Mr Lerner may never have come along. And if Neville is as dodgy as he seems then, (sharp intake) thanks to Doug for not selling to him! A wolf in sheeps clothing? But, for a long while now Doug has been effectively removed from the whole process and replaced by Rothschilds (by Petchey in my opinion) - It would have been Rothschilds decision to look for a better package than that offered by Neville. The only other confirmation that RL was acually in the UK on Friday, as far as I know was Pat Murphy on Radio 5Live, speaking about MON's arrival, the press conference and the takeover. He also said that he beleived Lerner was here in the UK Friday. Now it might just have been someone there reading this board and The Trees updates but PM will have known for real whether RL was here, I'm sure, as he was one of those who broke the story and seemed to be in the know. No he didn't, he pissed the deal up the wall because he didn't have the skills to professionally conclude or even progress it, which is why the Comers buggered off.
