Infantino has now threatened a blackout for major European countries as they won't pay same amount as the men for the TV rights

That's crazy, and will massively hinder the development of Women's football, which is starting to do bits.

Or is that the plan?

What's his argument there do we know?

Are all the sponsors for the Women's World Cup the same as the men's and do they have a blanket deal for all FIFA tournaments over say a 4 year period.

If so those sponsors would probably value the Men's World Cup as worth the investment for exposure and see the Women's as maybe 10% of that exposure.

Looking at TV rights I am guessing that is on a tournament basis so to sell advertising space on TV for something that will not have the same viewing figures is ridiculous.

The guy is a clown.

FIFA just following the recent trends.... Western society is so far down the rabbit hole of political correctness now it's become laughable.  "Equality" in pay is only possible when there is "equality" in revenue.  It's simple, logical, basic economics.  We've got these so-called activists like Rapinoe who, by their own so-called well-intentioned arguments for equal pay are actually hurting the women's game.  Can't tell you the number of people I know who basically can't be bothered to watch the US women now and have lost all enthusiasm for them.

WSL players earn on average 45k per year. To expect TV rights equivalent to the men's game, where salaries are 50 times higher is bonkers. How are audiences, and revenues expected to grow (and yes, ultimately salaries) if no one can watch the bloody games?

FIFA Head Had “Great” Meeting with Iran’s Raisi in New York

FIFA President Gianni Infantino says “it was great to meet” with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in New York, as the Islamic Republic is facing wide criticism over its ban on women attending stadiums, the arrest of football players deemed as critics of the government and the interference of its security institutions in sports matters.

After the September 20 meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Infantino took to Instagram to say he had “congratulated the President on the work that has been done to develop the game in his country.”

“We also discussed the development of women’s football in the country, and the progress made regarding the presence of women in football stadiums while reiterating the importance to keep on doing more all over the country,” the president of football’s world governing body added.

FIFA  following suit with UEFA and are allowing Russian youth teams to compete in their competitions again. Under neutral flag but that doesn't really matter does it.
