Teams use that tactic. We do to a degree. Have people stand in an offside position to distract opposition, give us a target to aim the ball at, be in position ready for a cut back from someone else.

None of those situations result in the flag going up.

It's bizarre that the current interpretation of the rule allows it, but it does. So we (and others) abuse it however we can.

liverpool did it really well vs us at anfield, salah stood offside 30-40 yards from goal, ball went over the top, we stood stationary with our arms up playing salah while nunez ran straight through on goal from deep

i've got no problem with that

gakpo is stood 8 yards out from goal in the middle of the box, he has gained an advantage from being stood offside, its utterly bizarre to think that he hasnt, its also bizarre to define that as 2 phases of play

they've made a proper mess of the rule

as i said the bayern vs madrid winner one last week is 10x worse, that's actually top class defending from bayern but the way they've decided the rule works this week means that its a goal

Anyone following the story in the Netherlands?

A ref gave a team 3 red cards, added 15 minutes of extra time in which the other team scored to win the game and the title, and then he joined in with their celebrations

The guy singing the song and lifting the trophy? Yeah, the ref. Seriously. :D

No doubt he will be recruited as a perfect addition to the load of idiot refs we have had to suffer in the premier league.
