Wish I was going but can't make it this year so will watch the races at work.

I'll be backing Edeymi in the Pertemps final, Activial in the Coral cup and Attaglance in the Stable plate. Currently around 8s,10s & 16s so roughly a 1683/1 treble. Each way that's around a 52.5/1 treble - I think! !

Im sacking the doubles on the above bet and increasing the stakes on the x4 Trebles and x1 Fourfold,

Sire de Grugy @ 10/3 in the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Wednesday with a Healthy Single!

PaddyPower are refunding all losing bets if Douvan loses so a few pound on L'ami Serge might be worth a bet in the opener. In the next Un De Sceaux surely has to win that.Ned Stark in 14:40 might be a good E/W shout and Very Wood in the National Hunt Chase is my last tip of the day.

Book this week off every year. The best sporting event in the world imo, by a country mile!

Going on the Thursday and Friday, Wednesday is a big do at mine and Tuesday is a gathering in the local with snap put on by the landlord. Can't wait.

Not a favourite backer but I have gone with the 4 fold on the big ones. Got about 13/1. Not bad, very possible, but have a feeling 'The New One' will spoil it so had a cheeky bet on that too.

A bit of an each way punt for the day: Sgt Reckless in the Arkle. Currently about 14/1 and capable of a big run.

Good Luck to everyone betting and I encourage anyone who doesn't normally, get involved. Watch it on the TV, the atmosphere is something else.

I've always preferred to go on the opening day as the buzz for that first race is just amazing. I've been to Wembley 4 times in my life and for atmosphere I think Cheltenham is right up there, if not better. It's just an absolutely brilliant occasion and everyone has a great time, even if you lose on the horses!

A few of years ago I watched Henderson clean up with the likes of Simonsig, Sprinter Sacre, Bob's Worth and Riverside Theatre. What the hell happened? They looked nailed on to go back and follow up a year later but it never happened.

I have a feeling that Jezki will win the Champion Hurdle again. I'm not a fan of the horse really but just have a feeling that this horse likes a battle and better racing ground than they get in Ireland. He's lost all his races to Hurricane Fly this season but I think the tables will be turned on the big day. I know Faugheen is the new big thing from Mullins, and The New One is a course specialist now but, for me, Jezki will take all the beating on good racing ground.

Selections (definitely not tips!) for the day:

1.30 Tell Us More

2.05 Dunraven Storm

2.40 The Druid’s Nephew & Cape Tribulation

3.20 Hurricane Fly

4.00 Polly Peachum & Carole's Spirit

4.40 Cause of Causes

5.15 Stellar Notion & Keltus (done last week or the week before at 25s - h/t to CVB for the price as it's already in my ones to follow).

I have done the Mullins four favs in a token acca just in case it does happen though, it being Cheltenham, I doubt it will.

And I've had a price boosted interest in Douvan in the first (double the odds so 4/1 about a 2/1 shot).

Good luck to everyone getting involved.

The Daily Mash:

Irishman hot favourite to be drunkest person at Cheltenham

MARTIN O’Hanlon, a 38 year-old from Kerry, is the bookies’ choice for champion drinker at the Cheltenham Festival.

The four-day sauce-necking event, which takes place next to some horses at Cheltenham racecourse, attracts top professional drinkers from around the world.

This year’s 5-6 favourite is garrulous Irishman O’ Hanlon, who will be coming over on the ferry with four grand in his top pocket and a ‘virtually unlimited’ capacity for rum and coke.

O’Hanlon’s trainer, Stephen Malley, said: “Martin romped home last weekend at Kelso, consuming 194 units of alcohol over a 48-hour stretch. That includes 98 units before he had his first piss.

“He’s a great competitor and a fantastic personality. The crowd loves it when he doesn’t seem that pissed but then tries to leave the bar via an imaginary door.”

Earlier this season O’ Hanlon, who stands 13 hands high when upright, sustained a serious injury to his drinking arm when he repeatedly punched a road sign following a mid-week session at Doncaster.

Malley said: “Luckily he was still able to grab people round the neck and force them to sing ‘Wild Colonial Boy’.”

Drinkers’ rights groups have called for the event to be banned after last year’s favourite, the popular Scot Davey McBride, stumbled into a roadside ditch and had to be shot.

But a spokesman for the organisers said: “The drinkers love it. You can see the enjoyment in their eyes and to stop them doing it would be going against nature.

“Unfortunately, when they fall over they’re often too drunk to tell us if they’re okay and so we have to put them down.”

Thankfully I didn't take my own advice and went for EW bets of Shaneshill and JollyAllan. shaneshill paid out and a freebet refund on JollyAllan as Douvan won. Freebet has gone on Un de Sceaux now...

Collective sigh from bookies across the land with that fall.

A bit annoyed - cost me for my acca. :)

Yeah no doubt Jockey has been paid off to save Millions!

That fall lost me over £800 :'( (presuming Annie Power would have won otherwise)
