Over there it's even worse. Every person has a relatively local club, and unless you have parents or family who follow a different club, your local club should be the one you support. Glad you brought the family issue up. I'm a born and bred brummy exiled in leicester. When I have a boy he BETTER be a villa fan. ianrobo1 Posted April 5, 2007 Share Posted April 5, 2007 I only fronted the question because I find it very frustrating when I see loads of Manure/Arse/Chelsea/Liverpool shirts being worn by youngers nowadays in Birmingham, when they have 1 at present and maybe 3 potential (next season) PL teams WITHIN A TEN MILE RADIUS. It can be hard to find a Villa shirt in a sports shop in brum nowadays - the worst culprits are JJB Sports. If you only support a team because they are/were successful and have a lot of media exposure, then more fool you! I also know that if any of those brummy red sods had ever been to Mancland, they'd see how much of a shithole it is and would renounce their flimsy "allegance" immediately. Spot on Brummie reds are total scum, they are gloryhunting rocket polishers who support man Ure only because they are successful, no ties to the area etc. As for people saying how many live in Birmingham come from the area, it is a bit distorted because asthis site proves we have a lot of exiles. I will have kids in NZ, and they will be Villa fans.... will that make them glory hunting rocket polishers?? The people I have a problem with are the ones that switch teams at the drop of a hat... Some people can't afford to go every week, can't get tickets, live to far away, be to young to remember football before the premiership.... I really don't see the hatred.. Other than Villa I know I've said this before, but having lived and worked in both places, give me Manchester any day. Manchester is a good city, but I'd say Birmingham edges it. As for glory hunters, I can't stand people who do it, but it's not a crime so I just allow and accept it. I think I prefer Birmingham City fans though, at least they are supporing their local team. And to the people who say they are clearings in the woods, grow up, there are friendly Birmingham City fans and cuntish ones too, like every other team. Her old man made her pick a team from MOTD when she was little, and she picked Man U, which would've been in, I think, about 1988. If only she'd picked Sheffield Wednesday or something life would be better but there you go. She does know her football, and comes to the boozer to watch games and that, so it's swings and roundabouts really. Her argument is that everyone in her neck of the woods, which is Walsall, is a Villa fan, and they're gloryhunters as much as she is. Woe betide any Villa fan from Walsall telling her she should support her local team. Have a mate who's a Man U fan too, but his old man's a Man U fan so got no qualms with that.
