  1. I'm really excited about the prospect of Delph. Looks like the combative, box-to-box mid we need a la Milner. Hopefully he fully recovers from his injury! Will be a very good player IMO.
  2. If he can bring through fonz and Albrighton a la gerrard/Owen (I.e. They got plenty of chances under Houllier at Anfailed) Have we actually signed that Serrano kid? Hopefully he can be the next fabregas - and there's no danger of him wanting to go to Barcelona! (As he's an Espanyol fan)
  3. I don't think that guys joking... He's a jobsworth anyway. Please, o'lbs, tell me what fabled manager we should have got instead? Curbishley, Sarf London's Moirinho? Dowie, the new Fergie? Southgate, the answer to Hiddink? I think the 90% yes voting shows our opinion doesn't it! He's old! He's french! Leaves Heskey on the bench, Houllier! Houllier!
  4. And he was shit at Notts County! No to Sven! He got 40 league goals out of Heskey... Then sold him to the Blues for 6 and a half million... Do it again Gerard, and you'll be a Villa legend. If he wins a trophy with us.. Well. Let's just hope eh! Come on Mr. H, work your magic!
  5. Right now? Pendulum - Set me on Fire. Next on is Parklife by Blur, then ecuador by Sash! so basically a nice mix.
  6. Houllier is a very good appointment IMO. 6 cups in England, 5 in France. That's good going. The only trophies he failed to win were the League and Champions League.
  7. General - You stated Premier League experience - is that purely Premier League managerial experience, or does it stretch to someone like Klinsmann who played in the Premier League? Also General, what I meant by a manager of a certain "ilk", was that the clubs struggles to attract big names anyway due to our location and the relative size of our club. What I mean is I don't want a Southgate or a Dowie, as they have PL experience, yet they were rubbish in the league. Surely a manager of the calibre of Jol is perfect? He was very good at Spurs, was stopped by the mysterious case of food poisoning on the last day from getting 4th on a fairly tight budget.
  8. General, can you enlighten me on whether the option of a manager of the calibre of say, Jol or Hitzfield or Pellegrini, is being considered seriously for the job, rather than (how do I put it) a manager of Southgate or Curbishley's calibre? And will there be a permanent manager in charge by the next away game? (Stoke I think) Thanks
  9. I might add, Concorde looked very sharp, and that delightful run he did was superb. Irleand was very good IMO. He played deep, which he shouldn't, but he looked great on the ball and rarely, if ever gave it away. As for Gabby, he looked brilliant, he can really make a splash this season and push for the Euro 2012 qualifiers. He's beefed up again, and now looks like Carew with speed.
  10. Is that directed at me? I may have come across a bit ranty, i'm just a bit pissed off at it. And the abysmal officiating.
  11. Get Well Soon Arnie. However I was disgusted at the actions of the crowd. Throwing water (and probably piss) over Guzan all game, throwing coins and lighters in unnacceptable in any form of the game. But what made it worse waas Weimann getting stretchered off, instead of polite applause for a former Rapid boy and a fellow Austrian, they booed him, spat at him and (I think) threw stuff at him. Utterly disgusting, and I hope UEFA take action. But then again, they aren't English, so what do UEFA care? Isn't it amazing if you say you're a football fan from England, the prejudice is instantly "hooligan", yet can anyone rememer the last time the crowd was throwing stuff at a keeper (with no reason) in England, or even booing an injured player? We were all angry when West Ham and Millwall started that ruckus, but those two were famous scrappers and fierce rivals, so deep down no-one was truly surprised, but these animals need to be taught a lesson. The return leg is gonna be nasty, as Villa fans will probably retaliate, and I hope they don't.
  12. Get well sonn Fabian. Shame really, I was hoping to see him fill Milner's role. Hopefukky Sidwell, Beye, Heskey, Osbourne out 3 in in those positions, one a young chap.
  13. Apache (Jump on It) by the Sugarhill Gang - annoyingly catchy.
  14. Hi General What are we looking for in a new manager? Will it be experience, ability to manage on a tight budget, a big name to keep our best players, etc. My personal favourite is big Martin Jol, as I feel he would get us 4th, shift the deadwood, sign some excellent prospects and bring through our talented youth. Thanks
  15. What do we prioritise though, nice football or winning ugly?
  16. I just think Pulis is just like MON though, we'll play defensive football and fail to break down teams just like what always cost us in our CL chases.
  17. Wiggy I was responding to the chap who wanted some reasons why Jol should be manager. At least its not like signings, we are guaranteed to get a manager. I just want a quality manager who will get us to push on, so someone like Pulis wouldn't be that man.
  18. Jol was a bout of food poisoning away from 4th place remember, he was unfairly sacked by Spurs, and it was the team he assembled that qualified for the CL this year. Jol is a fantastic manager, and would be the perfect man to get us top 4.
  19. I wouldn't want Sven personally! I think he wasn't that good at Man City and he was crap at Notts County. Glenn Hoddle might be a good option.
  20. There isn't. Paul McGrath doesn't exist!? I may have to end it all!
  21. Holloway in the hat as well... We could do a lot worse.
  22. Maqroll - Oscar Tabarez? Would love Pellegrini or Tabarez tbf
  23. Daft, Fulham weren't willing to pay the compensation Ajax wanted. Otherwise the best we can hope for is Bradley.
