  1. Its amazing how much optimism there was at the beginning of this thread. Faith that we would kick on this year. Its now been replaced by pure hope that we dont fall out the division. I think we will just be safe at 17th, but that just aint good enough.
  2. Vlaar is definitely one of the players we should be holding on to. The only thing that concerns me with him is the fact he's a little injury prone. As for him being shit is a little nonsense personally. I think his passing out from the back isnt the greatest at times but in general the only time he gets really exposed is through the weaknesses of those around him.
  3. FFS! I think someone should petition Mr Lerner to order some white flags for our supporters on Saturday, most of them want to roll over and accept relegation without a fight. I dont think its a case of the fans waving white flags. What is happening now is most fans have just lost faith in the sorry bunch of shitfaces pretending to be premiership footballers, wearing our colours and a manager who appears to have surrendered already. I will support the team as im sure everyone else will come saturday however if we lose which is a possibility then they will deserve to be slaughtered after 90min. Including lambert.
  4. Leave the guy alone? Arrhh Poor old lambert!! Nothing is his fault!! Dont make me laugh. He a shit manager without a clue of how to sort his mess. The sooner he goes the better for villa.
  5. Think you need to assess who it it you support, lambert or villa. What you should do is contact lambert and see if he'll take you on as his number 2(in his next job) because you both talk nonsense!!
  6. My hate for ellis was born through the fact that he never give a shit about the fans not that he didnt give a shit about villa. Having said that i think him controlling villa was just to massage his own ego. As for lerner, villa has no real pull for him its a relationship he could walk away from without shedding tears. But yes i believe ellis cared more about villa.
  7. He's only got 1 year left and he cant be getting paid a silly amount anyway, wouldnt be massively costly for Lerner to sack him now. Especially since his staff are probably going to be sacked after the "investigation" anyway. Totally agree. I just dont think lerner is interested in putting another penny in though even to pay off lambert. He may be forced to though if we go down and any potential sale goes down the toilet. God forbid. I just want lambert, lerner and faulkner gone now to be honest. As much as i hated ellis this is getting just as bad now.
  8. I think if we go behind it could get just as bad if not worse. Especially if results are against us. Last home game for people to vent and all that.
  9. Someone needs to do a gif of lerner as stan laurel and lambert as oliver hardy because this is another fine mess!!
  10. I think personally if we do get a result next week or in our last 2 games to keep us up it will be through passion and grit from players and fans, not lambert. That is in itself reason enough to sack him now. As someone else mentioned, if he did get sacked i think we would definitely see the passion and grit we need. Lambert inspires no one.
  11. You can re-post whenever you like. The fact remains most(nearly all) fans believe that many managers could have done better! My opinion will not be swayed with a result against hull at home, i know that much.
  12. It's all very easy to say with hindsight though. When you dont have much money you need to be better at making the most of it. Lambert hasn't done that. As i mentioned earlier in the thread. He has brought in 5 fullbacks for 2 positions and 5 forwards for 1 position. And thats why i say poor management. There is nothing hindsight about it. There is still a lot of waste in the squad especially when we are lacking down the middle and out wide.
  13. So am i and always have been dubious. I think the majority although understanding of the lack of funds issue still believe the squad are more capable than performances suggest. I speak to a couple of ex villa players regularly who privately cant believe he still has a job.
  14. In 2 years lambert has brought in 19 players(including guzan). Of that 19 only 6 started yesterday. Fair enough we have 3 long term injuries to contend with but you argue half what he has brought in have been shit. And to bring in players who arent ready or good enough especially with a tight budget, is a real fuk up on his part. As others have stated he should have promoted the likes of grealish, robinson etc and used what funds he had to better effect., ie; less players more quality. Or less players more wages. Poor management imo and deserved the sack months ago, especially with the standard of football being produced.
  15. No manager would deliberately try to relegate a club. It will damage his cv. He has though i feel run out of ideas and his confidence is shot. I think we will be extremely fortunate to escape relegation and its a shocking state of affairs to be relying on others to fail in order to save ourselves. A bloody disgrace if im honest.
  16. Narrow diamond with no width, 3 at the back and long ball football are a few. Do you really think he's doing nothing wrong? No, I'm just not qualified to say what's good or bad tactics. Doesn't a narrow diamond allow you to win the midfield, the most important area? Allowing players like Westwood and Delph to control the midfield against better players? 3/5 at the back has worked before and it's what I'd play on Saturday. We look decidedly more solid defensively like that. Finally, isn't everyone saying we should play long ball football as it's the most effective with limited players? Like Pulis is doing with Palace? When fans can't agree what's good or bad tactics, who's qualified to say if they're right or wrong? Problem is playing the diamond hasn't worked has it? Westwood, delp and kea still get bullied week after week. Also i think games are won and lost through performances all over the pitch not just midfield. Ask the defence after yesterday. Playing 3 centre backs against hull at home will just invite pressure at the back especially when we need to win or have the mentallity of winning. A defensive set up will imo send the wrong signal to the players and fans. Pulis isn't playing long ball football with palace currently. If you watch them you will see they are getting men behind the ball and break quickly from wide with puncheon and ballassi as their main outlet. What pulis is doing is playing to the players strengths something we just dont do.
  17. what about lambert? Does he get a free pass then, because when i last checked he was the manager. Sure lerner is a knob for cutting back, however lambert has had enough quality to at least keep us out this situation. No Lambert doesn't get a free pass but he is working with a budget that is awful, with an awful budget comes awful players, the owner is trying to survive in a champagne league with lemonade players and in my eyes that for me makes him public enemy number one. i can appreciate that lambert hasn't had massive funds however he did get an additional 20mil in the summer to improve on last year- we've gone backwards instead. The manager is more responsible for our current league standing than the owner, imo.
  18. what about lambert? Does he get a free pass then, because when i last checked he was the manager. Sure lerner is a knob for cutting back, however lambert has had enough quality to at least keep us out this situation.
  19. He'll be sacked when the fans decide to say enough is enough. If we lose to hull next week and the fans stay behind and shout for him to be gone action will be taken. Its an if though, but the fans can make the difference.
  20. fukin hell! Glad you've woken up.
  21. He is being judged on results as it is a results based job. He has done a poor job so far and honestly i think quite a few managers could get more out of the squad than lambert, not just the 3 you mentioned.
  22. I'd take that, as long as we didn't look to be in getting into serious trouble before then, would prefer a clean start with the new owners but he has bought well and agree it would be interesting to see who he could pick up with more funds, especially if it's true we were looking at at Holtby etc but couldn't afford. Although I can't see us anywhere near a europa league spot but here's hoping. I agree :-) I just think he's shown with 5m+ purchases, that he can identify a pretty good player. If we're bottom in october and nothing has changed, then as I said, thanks for the effort, but its not been good enough. Whether or not he can identify a good player or not for £5m isn't really the question fan's should be asking though surely? Isn't it more important that the manager of any team gets them playing good football with every player knowing their job and requirements?! I don't see how Lambert can survive under new owners regardless of financial restraints. The football has in the main been diabolical, add to that the majority of signings have been poor and not worthy of wearing the shirt. With the exception of benteke most fans are still look at the likes of gabby, delph, albrighton and wiemann winning our games for us in an attacking sense, not one of them a Lambert player. Nothing Lambert has done gives me confidence that even with more money he would have us playing good football or that he could even be trusted to bring in the right backroom staff to assist him progress us further on and of the pitch. It's also hard to feel sorry for someone who knew what they were getting into when they took the job and with a salary the majority can only dream of. We need a clearing of the decks both at boardroom and playing level, and maybe then we may actually in the not too distant future get back to where the biggest club in the second city belongs- at minimum challenging for europe. But as I said, I'd give him a chance (only until Christmas) with some money. I think he'd suprise a few people. If we buy a couple of higher calibre players, then naturally, the football will be better. I just think, give him a chance. Give him one summer. If it doesn't work out, then we can look at changing things around. With his hard job very nearly finished, I think the least us fans can give him is a chance to see what he can do with a bigger budget (potentially) :-) Although I love your faith. The obvious fact still remains in that the football has been consistantly crap. Buying better players doesn't guarantee success, especially if the formation and tactics don't suit. And as other posters have mentioned allowing him more money to then fail and have a whole set of new players to shift under new management makes no sense. If the football we played was entertaining and we looked organised, I like many could put up with skirting with relegation whilst waiting for the team to gradually grow. It's not been happening though, and the odd result against cheslea, arsenal or whoever doesn't prove otherwise. It's beating those around you that matters in the prem. For what it's worth I think Lambert could make a good manager in a few years, unfortunately at the moment it isn't working and I think the villa job has come too early for him. And it's too bigger job for a Lerner.
