  1. The sad thing is he's our second best CB. Can't stand another season with Richards and Lescott, although Okore and Baker aren't much better. Elphic coming in is a bonus but Clark has to be replaced.
  2. He struggles with the 'English game' in general, change of Div' wont make a difference IMO. He could do well in Spain or Italy, but not here.
  3. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-see-luis-alberto-transfer-11687638 Liverpool see Luis Alberto transfer to Sevilla fall through - but Championship clubs pursue Spaniard Sevilla were the favourites to re-sign the player they sold to Liverpool for £6.8million three years ago Liverpool midfielder Luis Alberto is being pursued by a number of Championship clubs after a proposed return to Sevilla fell through. The Reds want £6million for the Spaniard, who doesn't feature in Jurgen Klopp's plans for this season. Sevilla were the favourites to re-sign the player they sold to Liverpool for £6.8million three years ago. However, the Europa League holders were unwilling to meet the asking price and that deal is now off. Alberto looks likely to remain in England with Wolves and QPR among those clubs keen to secure his services. Aston Villa have also expressed an interest in the 23-year-old. The £6millon package Liverpool want includes appearance related add-ons. Alberto, who last played for the Reds in the 4-0 rout of Everton in January 2014, spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna. He scored six goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances in La Liga. He returned to Melwood for the start of pre-season but failed to impress and Klopp left him out of the squad for the tour of America.
  4. I'd definitely be happy with that. He's a real quality player IMO.
  5. I think that's such a sad indictment of our midfield. Although 100% accurate.
  6. I'd just worry at 35 he's passed his best, and to that end what kind of a deal would we offer him? a one year contract perhaps? Again I can't see him starting in the Prem' next season assuming we go up.
  7. Can't wait to see what Tony has to say about this on twitter...
  8. He's dead to us now. Lets just use the money wisely and concentrate on getting promoted.
  9. His indifferent performances in pre-season?
  10. Taken off at half time, replaced by Grealish. Could be the end of his Villa career?
  11. I'm resigned to losing such a talented and dedicated player. I heard he's wanted by Barca, Real and Bayern.
  12. Agreed, just imagine if we got that useless waste of space Defoe in exchange, I think I'd cry.
  13. I still carry a small hope he'll return a year later, mentally stronger, full of confidence having had a cracking season in France and willing to give it another go with us in the Premier League.
  14. I don't think he was that terrible, he had a couple of really good season's under Lambert (didn't he get POTS one year as well?) Unfortunately he wasn't able to sustain that kind of form, he declined to the point where he was becoming a liability. He's stagnated and desperately needs a move. As I said, I'm just shocked we can't get anything for him especially in an age when arguably worse players have been sold for significant fee's, he's surely worth £1m-£2m? It just feels like we've had our pants taken down releasing him on a free.
  15. Not sad to see him go, but sad to see we didn't get anything for him.
  16. He was cack for us last season and cack at the Euro's. Sounds like he's got an escape plan anyway, or at least thought about it. I just hate modern footballers, we paid him good money for some abject performances, then even before we're relegated he's already thinking of jumping ship because his wages would reduce. Sell him to the baggies, or give us Chester in exchange
  17. From 90mins... http://www.90min.com/posts/3473802-aston-villa-s-jordan-veretout-nearing-villa-park-exit-with-move-to-marseille-reportedly-close Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout is close to ending a miserable spell at Villa Park, with a loan move to French side Marseille reportedly nearing completion. Reported in French news outlet L'Equipe, Marseille are interested in taking Veretout to the south of France on a season long loan. The former Nantes midfielder moved to the Midlands club for a fee of £8.3m last summer as Villa looked to retain their place in England's top flight. However, the Frenchman endured a difficult campaign and was one of a group of players to have been criticised for the abject displays as the club succumbed to relegation. The 25-year-old made 25 appearances for the club last season, however he struggled to establish himself as a first team regular. Veretout was not helped by playing under two different managers during his torrid first season in England. Signed by Tim Sherwood last summer, the English manager was replaced by Frenchman Remi Garde in November 2015. However, as a collective and on an individual level, performances failed to improve. With reports stating that new manager Robero Di Matteo is keen to shake up his squad, it is little surprise that Veretout is set to fall short of the new manager's regime.
  18. The Birmingham Mail were reporting that the Sanchez deal is all but done and they expect him to be announced as a Marseille player next week.
  19. Spot on. Still happy to take a wage from the club though...
  20. Tshibola's performance totally embarrassed Gana today, he clearly doesn't give a toss IMO.
