  1. Great question. This guy is like Marmite, you love him or loathe him. And I think he's a clearing in the woods
  2. How could I boo someone who left after 10 years service, an exemplary professional and downright good egg. Even Cahill got a chant when he came back. Just because he scored one wonder goal. I think Barry has done a bit more for us than that
  3. Thanks for taking time with this sometime negative column. It's great that we get feedback from you guys. Just to say on this point: The Villa Chariman does own his own stores (forgive me if I'm wrong), at Villa Park and in the City Centre. These other shops are selling shirts for £10 less than Villa do. This leads to many sensible fans getting their shirts elsewhere than Villa. I think the point is that if Villa charged the same we make all the profit whereas now the other shops do.
  4. Brilliant article, sums it up precisely. I too will fondly remember his enthuiasm and wonder goals. Sadly not consistent enough with rumoured poor off field behaviour. Shame. I'll wish him luck but yes, he had it but blew it really
  5. I agree, think this would be a great idea. Not sure about the £40 though! Here's a ticketing idea for you, as some fans cannot afford a season ticket or maybe simply know that they cannot attend every home game maybe we could batch a selection of, say, 5 games together across the season. You could do it 1 category A game 2 B's and 2 C's or 5 A's at one price, 5 B's at another. It might encourage people along. Anyway thanks to you General for taking the time to start and regularly contribute to this thread.
  6. I've voted for the much maligned UDLC, he has been, by far, our most consistent performer this season
  7. I'm with Eston that's my vote, like the one on my retro shirt
  8. He may well make it, I haven't seen too much that makes me think he'll be our great saviour. Good luck to him but I'm not convinced he'll progress that far
  9. The great debate of the Century so far. Recent years have seen the rise of the good old US of A. The USA have given us many things like pointless wars, CSI, and baseball caps. The latter have made it over the water and seem to have fascinated the yoof, man. But are they hip or just shite
  10. I like the Albion and if they stay up, they might take a few points of some of our rivals for UEFA qualification. Hopefully

    THE Pint

Any Holdens brew, particularly Special and Bathams Bitter, in fact, I'm off out!
  12. Call me a big old gullible softy if you like but I believe him. As he said he understands why we are so cynical of the hierarchy at VP... it is him saying it now... trust has to be earned. Oh yes, some money will be spent in the close season
  13. I was going to vote for good old Withey but Gary Shaw was my hero at the time so I've gon A N Other
  14. Voted yes but would be worried about the share prices as we all know how they plummeted at the floatation, but theoretically this is an excellent idea
  15. Here here. The only reason to dislike them is cos they're our local rivals. Personally I'd like them to come 2nd - behind us. Every season
  16. Man Utd have a lot of strikers out at the moment and it wouldn't surprise me to see him go there. If not Liverpool now that Owen has left. However I want him at Villa Park as he averages more than a goal every other game so is a class act.
  17. And not forgetting that Predator was invisible (in the first film anyway - not seen the 2nd)
