  1. Mine's so pathetic nobody knows I'm doing it yet!
  2. Have you used it yet? Hope it makes getting out and about easier for you. All the best.
  3. That looks like Mick Hucknall "out of Simply Red"
  4. Knowing you are going to die soon is very painful, especially if it's untimely. My wife died earlier this year at the age of 43. She had cancer and knew she was going to die. We have two boys and it was the hardest thing in the world for her to say goodbye. Despite this she was very brave and helped them cope with her loss. I opt for a massive post-coital heart attack while out of my head on crack at the age of 96.
  5. In my experience, it's the healthy food they say this to, not the crap!
  6. Totally stupid. This bloke was her teacher, it's a complete abuse of trust. Fifteen year old girls are boiling pots of hormones and emotions. They can be easily manipulated and this is what this man has done.
  7. Knocked out of the cup at home by a bottom three club? You have to expect "giant" killing in the cup competitions mind. Where did this fluffy cuddly friendliest supporters in the world bollocks come from? I hate Albion and sincerely hope that we beat you on Sunday. For me this is always the biggest game of the season (assuming we are in the same division). I for one fully reciprocate the rivalry.
  8. He's obviously gone a bit mad. She's 15 and he's her teacher, that's unforgivable. It's not like he can claim that he thought she looked 18.
  9. Stay away from poor quality Japanese rubbish. Go for a Ford Focus. I have to say having worked for a supplier into both Ford and "Japanese rubbish", I know which one I'd trust to produce a quality product. By the way, I drive a (British made) Toyota, not cheap though.
  10. A friend of mine used to interview candidates at his company (large turnover of staff). His critera were: 1) Are they fit (women) 2) Can they play football (for the works team) 3) Do they support West Brom (I know...pffft!) I overheard him interview a friend for a job there. There was only one question to the candidate (his friend)..."Do you want a sh*t job for w*nk money?" Apparently, he did! Like MJM says, it's who you know (sometimes).
  11. I have that problem with eight and eighth. I think it's the 'hth' that just looks odd. I like words with 'phth' in them because they look odd. e.g. Ophthalmic, diphthong, phthalic, diphtheria etc.
  12. I always have to pause and think before spelling nucleus/neutron. I can never remember which one starts "neu". Wouldn't necessarily be a problem in everyday life, except for the fact that I'm a Chemistry teacher.
  13. :| As a science teacher, I have to declare an interest here, but if you don't think you need to be clever to teach...have you ever tried herding cats? Just joking, it's a job I love, but it does attract a...ahem...wide range of people. Reminds me of that Armstrong and Miller sketch... become a teacher
  14. What was the 1st if you dont mind me asking? Getting married to my wife of course!
  15. Worked in Academic Research then the Coatings Industry for 16 years. When I was 40 I retrained and became a Secondary school teacher. Second best decision I ever made.
  16. Ha ha! My favourite Brubeck cut... makes me happy and sad at the same time In fact probably one of my Desert Island Discs
  17. Can't imagine JAMC making most people's Jazz Top Ten, but their use of Dorian modalities on Never Understand from the Psycocandy album was groundbreaking at the time. Blow Up by JTQ is great. Both of these bring back great memories from the 80s. You are 45 years old and I claim my five pounds!
  18. You need ring shank nails. There are grooves going around the shank of the nail which grab the floorboard and the joist below stopping them from moving. Worth a couple of quid to save hundreds getting the boards replaced. Pull the carpet back, bash the nails in, see if it works...just don't hit a pipe or cable!!!!
  19. Great! I'm going to use that with my year 11 Physics class tomorrow. So now, not only are you paying my wages, you're also writing my lesson plans!! Cheers, Mike
  20. What about this jazz/rap fusion from Guru... Jazzamataz
  21. Never really listened to much of his later stuff. I'd agree that some is a bit meh...e.g. Sketches of Spain, but there's something magical about Kind of Blue. I could listen to it every day and not get tired of it.
  22. I know lots of people he want to show support to Ad with his recent diagnosis. Positive thoughts and messages are a good start point, but if you want to offer more practical support... Think about becoming a blood donor. You can find out more information at this web site. Not for everyone I know, but it's something you can justifiably feel pretty smug about! When you have a clear out, take the good stuff to a local cancer research charity shop (find your local shop here. Not the tat, the good stuff!. Or just give cancer research money...here. Or Macmillan...here. Don't forget to do the gift aid if you are a uk tax payer. Sorry for sounding preachy, but this affects a lot of people that we love. Mike
  23. Let's go to the top of the tree... Miles Davis - So What
  24. Horrible news. Really hope things work out for you. Stay positive and take it one day at a time. MacMillan are a good source of information and support for you and your family/friends. Mike
