  1. Of a Fire on the moon by Norman Mailer. A titanic account that gives incredible insight into the effect of the moon landings on the astronauts, those involved in NASA and society in general. The technical details are brilliant. The second best book I've read about a factual event (after In Cold Blood by Truman Capote).
  2. Hope that's not tempting fate for the 5000m.
  3. Yeah, flying ants here in Buckinghamshire. Yum yum!
  4. A really massive cuddly rabbit, half as big as a room, so big it won't go through the loft hatch or into a wheelie bin! ...seriously, if you're going to buy a stuffed toy, make it small enough for the baby to hold (once they are a few months old). Both of my boys latched onto small stuffed bears 8 inches tall maximum.
  5. Based on what I've seen so far, you will.
  6. Surely, the honeytrap thread provided you with a fair few laughs as well. I really wish we could resurrect or start a new one...funniest thing ever. Yeah, had a giggle at that one, but now I'm worried I'll get caught by the next one...
  7. Headline prediction...TOP TROTTY!!
  8. Thanks for the condolences, just wanted to say that I lurk over here quite a bit, but post very seldom. Dropping by the gif and pics threads as well as the other random bits and pieces helped to give me and my wife a few laughs while she was I'll with cancer. I could do with a resurrection of the lovely ladies thread at the moment though!!
  9. Sorry to hear that Leemond. From personal experience, your friend's widow will need plenty of practical support. Of course this all depends on how well you know her, how close you live to her and how much time you have on your hands. Make sure she has your mobile number and make it clear she can call at any time. Offer to take your godson out for a while so she can have some time to herself. Let her know that you will help out with some of the bloke's jobs if she needs it (getting car MOT, DIY, Gardening, fixing computer etc.). When my wife died this year, loads of people said "call any time", but the ones that have helped the most are the ones that have phoned me up and said "let me help".
  10. Not really. He makes it quite clear every time in regular competitions that he's trying to win for Scotland. I'm fed up of the Scottish attitude towards us English when in regular competition, so I figure I'll send some hate back. The hating the English quote was a joke blown out of proportion by the sh*t media we have in this country. The reason why so many sportsmen (and politicians) are so boring to listen to is that they know journalists will take any interesting/witty/intelligent comment they make and twist it to support their paper's agenda. When Murray started out he used to be quite funny in interviews, now it's more of the same bland comments that everyone that has had media training makes. There you go...richard littlejohn, there's an Englishman I feel happy to hate! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bqQsHBwkDgQ Come on Andy!
  11. You can have her...I'll have the other one!
  12. Mental wasn't quite what I was aiming for, but I'll take it as a positive!
  13. real steel, watched it last weekend on sky, its a proper father and son film Thanks for that V4E, will check it out. The boys loved Monsters last night, we even watched the making of...doc. In fact the story of how they made it was really inspiring. The big bonus for me was Whitney Able!!! I've been way out of touch with films for ages (apart from kids Pixar stuff and the LOTR and Harry Potter series). Trying to catch up, but it's quite difficult as there is so much guff out there in Internet land...so any recommendations gratefully received (even lists!).
  14. I hope you covered their ears for the rent-a-car rant! I'd completely forgotten that bit...until it happened...then I instantly remembered! Youngest turned to me and said "it's alright dad, I know I shouldn't say those words".
  15. Anyone got suggestions for DVDs to rent for me and my two sons? They are 14 and 10 (I am 45!). Recently we've seen Son of Rambow, Super 8, Groundhog Day, Trains Planes and Automobiles, Life of Brian and we've got Monsters to watch tonight. Looking for something that 10yo and 14yo will enjoy. Up to 12ish rating.
  16. You tellin' me there's pictures of women on the Internet? Link?!
  17. In the 80's the fans in the Trinity Road stand had this clapping thing they did to get behind the team... clap clap..clap clap...clapclapclapclapclap! Imagine the Trinity getting behind the team!!?? Those were different times. They also chant "Villa!" in high pitched voices because we used to give an allocation of tickets to school kids in a section near the away fans, so their shouts for the Villa were what they heard. From an old greybeard who heard Cropley's leg break and will always hate the albion more than blues.
  18. I worked at a multinational company and when I was on notice for redundancy I used to scroll through the email list which contained... Rosey Arce and Gary Munroe Bumgardener
  19. Haven't read the whole thread...but their keeper is called Quim!! huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh.
  20. Just trying to get the truth out there mate. Completely disagree with you...but admire your persistence.
