  1. Actually like hughton so a bit gutted it's him. Was hoping it would be Ince as he's a proper clearing in the woods and would have fitted in well there, I know someone who plays for Notts County who said that all the players hated him.
  2. I'm a bit on the fence with Sanchez too. Of all the Chileans at the World cup, Arturo Vidal was the one who impressed me the most, looked great in the Bundesliga games I saw last season too. Would love him at Villa in our midfield.
  3. Or finishing 2nd with Motherwell Beating MON's Celtic to the title twice Getting Scotland into the top 30 rankings (including a famous win in France) Winning Birmingham's first trophy since the 1960's!! His SHA team conceded ONE less goal than us last season, which is pretty diabolical when you consider how shit hour defense was last season and how defense is supposedly his strong area. This says it all to me... Joe Hart had the highest shots-to-saves ratio (76.4%), though Ben Foster (75.5%) had to save more shots (169). One of the reasons Foster had to make so many saves was that Birmingham City won fewer tackles than anyone else (452. Wolves were the next flimsiest, with 482 tackles won). Birmingham were similarly impotent going forward: not only did they score just 37 goals from 38 games but they also completed fewer through-balls (14) than anyone else and won fewer corners (152). So, the keeper bailed them out, they didnt tackle, couldnt pass and couldn't score either. Marvellous.
  4. I voted No. I don't care where they come from so long as they have had a good level of success and would fit into the Villa ethos. If they are coming from a foreign league though, they should be able to speak a decent level of english as we've all seen how Ramos/Capello turned out.
  5. Why has no one mentioned the fact that he wont be able to manage us until the New Year ? That's how long he'll need to be quarantined for after being at the Sty for that long, plus he'll need a pretty strong course of vaccinations as well.
  6. Christ, whats wrong with some of you on here. The ITK's at least keep it a little bit interesting, unlike some of the utter tosh and drivel i've seen on here. If there's a little rumour going round, I'd rather hear it and make my own mind up than not hear it at all. It's impossible for anyone to be 100% right on everything but some of the ITK's have been proven to be right in the past with things ahead of the journalists so why give them a hard time ?
  7. Cameron Jerome is what's known in the game as " an unnatural finisher "
  8. Completely calm about the whole situation. No way will Mccleish end up here. Don't believe the hype !
  9. I have it on even better authority that he resigned over the Marlon King transfer. Carson Yeung misunderstood his request for " a new attacker "
  10. If moyes comes here, we'll have to pay a hefty whack in compensation ( approx £7m if reports are true ). Everton are **** skint so they could probably do with the money for their own transfer budget, whilst at the same time they have a ready made replacement available for free in former player Mark Hughes. Moyes would probably like a new challenge and Hughes would maybe welcome a move back to the northwest. If only it was that simple !
  11. If we can't get Ancelotti or Moyes, can we just get Hughes and be done with ? I know he's not everyones 1st choice but with the exception of Man City, every team he's managed has performed well and above expectation in most cases.
  12. looks a great player from what i've seen, happy gareth? Wouldnt say hed a great player yet but hes definately got a lot of potential. A forward line of Forlan, Suarez, Cavani & Hernandez, all from a country with a population smaller than Scotland. Mental.
  13. I'm a bit anxious about it, I must admit. I don't think Henderson, Wickham and Jones (assuming these deals go through) will necessarily go straight into the team. Maybe they'll just replace the likes of Cole, Poulsen and Jovanovic on the bench to start with. Offset the large transfer fees against the saved wages of that lot and it doesn't look like bad business. Fair point about the wages, Cole's on an absolute fortune isnt he ? Buying one of them is fine but buying 3 " prospects " for the £30 - £40m they would cost is definately a bit risky IMO ( unless you have a HUGE budget ). I don't see how they would come in and improve the team immediately, which is what you need if your to be challenging for champions league places again
  14. The only thing I know is that the Bookies are making a killing in all of this. Wonder who tomorrows favourite will be ? Seems to be a new one everyday...
  15. Wonder if the Jol appointment changes anything with regards to the Mark Hughes situation ? Surely them having a new manager would open the door for us if we did wish to speak to him.
  16. Ive read through most of this thread and i find it disgusting that avram grant has not been mentioned as a contender.
  17. **** off, why didn't we look at him?! For £5m, that's an absolute steal. Would be great in our team, his goal return for a midfielder is very good. Another shrewd bit of business after Tiote.
  18. If I was him, I probably wouldnt be signing a new contract either until I knew who was managing us next season and what type of players we're looking to bring in. Lets not be too quick to get on his back, players can easily be misquoted and he has already come out and said recently he's happy at the club.
  19. You could tell he was a little rusty yesterday but still did ok. I think a midfield central 3 is the way to go in future, particularly in away games / games against the better teams. Any 3 from Petrov, Makoun, Delph and NRC would be the way i'd go against Liverpool.
  20. Anyone know whats happened to Makoun ? is he injured... ?
  21. I actually think thats the way to beat them you know. Chelsea used to do it, sit on the edge of their own box then hit them on the counter attack. Won't be easy to watch, mind.
  22. I thought walker had a good game today, had etherington in his pocket. Glad we managed to come back again from going behind and bents finish was exceptional. Stoke came for the draw, we couldn't break them down and it's a reasonable point in the end.
  23. Wasn't even a half chance really, pretty much made that out of nothing
