Zatman's right here. The key thing is his longevity at the club. In the same way that Giggs possibly wasnt as good as Christiano Ronaldo, I still think he'll be remembered more fondly because of his length of service at the club rather than the brilliance over a season or 2 ( like Ronaldo at Real ). It's hard to argue with Raul's accomplishments, even though I never really thought of him as one of the best strikers in the world at any time throughout his career.

Jordi Gomez, Jason Scotland, Gary Caldwell, Marcelo Moreno, Scott Sinclair, Ben Watson, Steve Gohouri all disprove this theory not all bargains pay-off and 3 of them were loan signings. What about N'Zogbia, Palacios, Valencia, Bullard, Rodallega, Figueroa even Bramble all bought for peanuts and became solid premier league players or better Yep, i agree. They obviously havent got a lot of money to spend but they're scouting network definately finds some gems. I'd throw James Mccarthy into that list too, £1.2m for a 19 year old but everytime i've seen him, he looks like he could be a proper player. Remember him in the game against Liverpool and he ran the midfield, totally bossed Gerrard that day.

Overrated IMO, made to look good because Schweinsteiger was so outstanding beside him. Schweinsteiger was very dynamic but i thought Khedira did all the simple things very well and rarely gave the ball away. I must admit, I didnt expect Real to go for him but £10m is peanuts for a 6ft 2, 23 year old with his potential. A player like him could end up being quite important for a team like Real with all their " Galacticos ".

Khedira for £10m is a brilliant bit of business if they get him for that much, was really impressed with him at the WC. That said, i still wouldn't want him here as he reminds me of Milan Baros * shudders * How much is the fee for Arteta being reported as then ?

Ashley Young said not long after he joined Villa that his favourite position was left midfield, he was playing left midfield for Watford when he wasn't playing off the striker. He doesn't like Ash because he hasn't done well when he played for England, no, your right, it's MON's fault. ha ha. Yep, couldnt agree more. His exclusion from the world cup squad is nothing to do with him being played on the right. Another thing i'd about Ash is that apart from when he tore Clichy a new one against Arsenal, I have noticed that he does seem to struggle a bit in the bigger games for us. I wouldnt use the phrase " goes missing " but in quite a few games ( cup final, semi final etc ) he has been very quiet. Maybe Capella sees this as a weakness ? He's definately better than Wright Phillips and Walcott for me although they have put in better performances for England at times.
