  1. Seems like people expected the world from him really quickly after virtually every key player in that side was sold. Even with all the mitigating factors, that 18/19 season is indefensible: and it seems he knows it.. Sevilla have been relatively poor this season as well, which seems to be the reason why Monchi is seemingly leaving. They were fighting relegation for the first half of the season but have reverted back to European-level form since the new year: and of course reached another Europa League final.
  2. Marca report (albeit not in a full article but their ticker thing) that we have interest in Monchi. Feels a bit of a lazy link given that we're clearly after a sporting director from La Liga and Monchi is rumoured to be leaving, but hey ho. https://www.marca.com/futbol/mercado-fichajes/2023/06/07/64802efdc83c250028d3bfc1-directo.html
  3. Next you'll be telling me not to make a Twitter villa news aggregator because there's already about 10 of them, with villareport the only good one!
  4. Sometimes I'm tempted to start one of these accounts on private, just tweet out a bunch of relatively feasible signings, hope a few are right, delete the wrong ones, then go un-private and suddenly have a masterful ITK record. At that point, you might as well get as many wrong as you like as long as you delete them, since clearly it doesn't matter (whispers kept going for 2 years despite being completely different from the OG actually ITK one). Unfortunately, I'm not sad enough to do that... yet.
  5. Any signings that work out = Emery signings Any signings that don't work out = Lange (and/or Purslow) signings
  6. Hearing that Christian has gone from stealing candy from babies to just straight up stealing babies. Someone do something
  7. Pinch of salt: It's Graeme Bailey. https://www.90min.com/posts/aston-villa-interested-pau-torres-aymeric-laporte
  8. Aggregator of foreign, less reliable sources.
  9. There are so many bad faith actors in football twitter journalism nowadays. Moreau is a small-scale example, being a troll account. But you have the likes of Pedro Almedia, Nico Schira and Ekrem Konur, who are not real people, (Konur probably is tbh, but he's a big a grifter as the others, who are 100% fake personas), let alone journalists, wracking up hundreds of thousands of followers because they do stuff like this on a larger scale. They pump out every transfer rumour imaginable from clubs all over Europe (another huge red flag, as that just isn't how sports journalism works at all), but gain traction: because if you pump out enough crap, you're eventually going to get lucky a few times.
  10. Taking candy from all of the babies. The monster.
  11. It makes sense for at least one Leicester player to join us, given how we're in the same area (albeit there's no rivalry) and there's some genuine quality in that squad available for cheap.
  12. Pretty sure Tielemans has played the most minutes as an U23 player ever in modern history, or something like that. He's been playing full seasons of 1st team football since he was 16. In a way that's a good thing, but in another way you do have to have some concerns over the long term impact on the body.
  13. Barnes, and it isn't even close. Pulisic's injury record is horrific.
  14. Just here to quote this for the 4th time in a row. I'm sure you're highly appreciative. Also, he moved back to Portugal as he was allegedly homesick. Not particularly surprising given he was only 19 and being suddenly thrust into a football academy in another nation.
  15. La Liga's final games are today. Carlos was first rumoured 2 days after it ended and signed 2 days after that, so presumably things will start to pick up now, especially if we're largely dipping into the Spanish market. Matteo Moretto emphasised a few weeks ago that we were still interested in Nico Williams, and Collomosse said we'd try again for him in the summer. You'd reckon Williams rejecting us in January wouldn't have been flat out if that were the case: perhaps more along the lines of "I want to see out this season, let's revisit this once it's over"? Would just seem a little weird otherwise. Athletic Club look likely to miss out on Europe in what has been a very, very fierce race (their final game is Madrid and they'll lose out if they do anything but win) so there may be an opportunity there.
  16. I liked Barnes before the link, but the more I think about it the more I really, really think it'd work here. I reckon he'd be the player we thought Bailey would've been for us. Also note this graphic: one of the most effective wide players in Europe over the past 4 seasons.
  17. Livramento. Obvious huge question marks over that injury but could be a reaaaallly good signing imo. Can ease him back gradually with the option to rotate with Cash for a season, if necessary.
  18. In their first seasons in Ligue 1, Traore scored 13 goals while Messi scored 6. One player is clear of the other, and it sure isn't the Argentinian.
  19. It's a honeypot for the fish puns. The logic is to keep them contained within this thread so that the rest of VillaTalk can roam free, safe from these fishy activities.
  20. For what it's worth, ChatGPT thinks you're onto something here.
  21. Difficult to judge his time at Chelsea tbf given how he's spent half of his time there under the only manager in the Prem this season who is worse than Gerrard (other than Jones ofc)
