  1. Promising signs last couple of games but doesn’t change the fact I still don’t think we should sign him permanently. Hope he goes onto making himself a cult hero towards the end of the season, wouldn’t be surprised if he scored the winner that guarantees us Champions League or wins the Conference League. For the rumoured 25-30 million fee I’m sure there’s other options out there that the club can find.
  2. From what I’ve read it’s £8 million plus difficult to achieve adds on so will probably cost us less then £15 million Glad to see he is getting more game time now. Back-to-back starts in the Premier League so Emery is clearly starting to trust him more. His only young and I think in a years time we will all be raving about how good he is. Bulldozes his way through players with ease. Hopefully can get some goal contributions during the run in. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays up front instead of Watkins if his out for a period of time though the obvious call would be Duran.
  3. Would love to be excited about Luton leading Spurs but seen this script a few times with Spurs in the second half. Plus Luton love throwing a lead away! Fingers crossed they can hold on.
  4. I get what your saying, but them results were at Villa Park. Away from home is a different story, I don’t think Villa are capable of digging deep away to Man City/Arsenal and getting a result. 5-1 at St James Park (at the time Newcastle had a strong home record) and 3-0 at Anfield was a tough watch and feel it will be similar with them 2 fixtures. I’m slightly more optimistic about the Liverpool game but our record against them is nearly on par with our record against Man Utd. We just don’t beat them.
  5. If we want to finish top 4 these are the games we have got to be winning. Fail to win here and we’d have to probably pull a result out of nowhere against the top 3. Despite our poor record against these, personally think the Brentford game next week will be tougher than this game. We will no doubt concede a sloppy a goal from a set-piece but I don’t think they have enough attacking threat for 90 minutes to out score us. Got to win.
  6. We have key players out but we can still play Watkins, Bailey, Diaby, Luiz, Tielemans, Torres, Konsa, Moreno/Digne, Carlos and Martinez and should have more then enough to see off Wolves. Think I saw on Twitter that they only have 12 players senior players available so their bench is gonna be pretty weak. Neto, Hwang and Dawson being out and Cunha only coming back off an injury lay off is probably the equivalent of us going away to Wolves with a half fit Watkins and being without Bailey, Diaby/Ramsey and Pau Torres. You just wouldn’t fancy us to get anything.
  7. If Wolves had Neto, Hwang and a fully fit Cunha then today would be a really tough game but the fact 2 are missing and one is only coming back from a long injury I’m feeling confident we will win today. I don’t think their attack will be able to cause us that much trouble personally. If we can’t beat these with those players missing then I don’t know when we will next beat these tbh.
  8. No Dawson, Neto or Hwang for this one. Cunha will either be on the bench or not fit to play 90 minutes here. We should really be beating these with those out as they are big losses to them. Don’t expect it to be pretty but think we will control the game for large parts, go 2-0 up and concede a sloppy set piece goal to give them hope as we just don’t keep clean sheets these days.
  9. Got to beat Wolves today. Got to. Don’t like labelling games as “must win” when we still have 9 left but if we don’t win today, it’s likely going to be 4 games without a win come Wednesday night and your opening the door for Man Utd. I think Man Utd will drop points in at least 2 of their next 3 games but they will be going into those games sensing we are starting to stumble and we are giving them a sniff of a chance if we don’t win today. Good thing is I expect to us to win today. Won’t be pretty, don’t think games against Wolves are but we will win. Expect Spurs to beat Luton 4-0 to put pressure on us, us to beat Wolves 2-1 to put pressure on Man Utd and I fancy Brentford to at least get a draw today. Brentford still need points to stay up and will be looking to bounce back from that loss to Burnley.
  10. Can't believe I've only just realised that there is mid-week Premier League games next week. Thought before that our position after the next three games would be key before Spurs head into some tricky fixtures but looks like this will be an important week for us. Feels similar to the week we had last season when we played Chelsea, Leicester and Nottingham Forest - it was after winning all three it felt like Europe was on for us. Spurs play before us for the first two, whilst we play all three before Man Utd. I expect Spurs to beat Luton at home but drop points away to West Ham so hopefully we can head into the Man City game still ahead of Spurs. Potentially could have an even more healthy gap over Man Utd when they head into the game against Liverpool...
  11. I've just done one. Have got Villa on 68 points 3 points clear of Spurs heading into the last day but Spurs with a much better goal difference. Not sure if I have been a bit generous with our results. Got us beating Wolves, Brentford, Bournemouth and Chelsea at home which can happen but we are bound to drop points somewhere. Have put us to lose to Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Brighton. Got Spurs to beat Luton, Forest and Burnley. Draw with West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea and lose to Newcastle, Man City and Liverpool. Newcastle one is probably the one can possibly swap for a win but also they could lose to Arsenal. Chelsea away does seem to be there Old Trafford equivalent though. It's going to be close.
  12. Guess Forest will appeal but you'd like to think 4 points is OK? Think they will have enough to stop up.
  13. Still feels a bit early to me to be doing end of season points predictions feel like we need to get the next 3 fixtures out the way. League table is going to be a bit annoying as it's going to show Man Utd and Spurs having 2 games in hand on us, though surely with Chelsea and Spurs not being in Europe that game should be arranged soon?
  14. Man City game will be rescheduled due to the FA Cup so not sure how much it helps them but they will have a 2 week break before the Arsenal game. Guess its one less difficult game in succession but probably means instead of finishing the season with 2 games against likely already relegated teams they will have Man City between them.
  15. Intrigued to see how Spurs do away to West Ham compared to how we did yesterday. If West Ham do go and beat Spurs then it will make the draw we got yesterday an even better result I think. West Ham won't have any Europe mid-week either.
  16. International break has come at the right time for us I think. Time to take stock ready for the final 9 games. I know Man Utd are currently 9 points behind us and we have a much more favourable goal difference but I think the next 3 games are important for us in terms of sealing top 5. Man Utd - Brentford(a), Chelsea (a), Liverpool (h) Us - Wolves(h), Man City(a), Brentford(h) Spurs - Luton(h), West Ham(a), Forest(h) Difficult to predict football as the Premier League throws up surprises but I'd like to think there's a chance we can get 6 points, Spurs potentially 7. Man Utd could easily lose all three of them - possibly nick a win against Brentford. Hopefully have an even more healthy gap over them after that and would also keep us ahead of Spurs before they hit some tough fixtures.
  17. I know Emery said it wasn't a reoccurrence of his previous injury but can't help but think it's got to be something similar. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him for the rest of the season bar maybe the last couple of games.
  18. Few FPL accounts have Duran starting no idea how true they are.
  19. Does feel a bit exhausting thinking about other teams fixtures, results or seeing them score last minute winners but I wouldn’t swap it for being 13th where you’ve pretty much got nothing on the line for the rest of the season.
  20. Next 4 fixtures are key for Man Utd. Brentford away, Chelsea away, Liverpool at home and Bournemouth away. Tough 3 away fixtures for them - one trying to stay away from relegation zone, one challenging for Europe and one aiming to finish top half with a home game against a title challenger. The way they are playing that luck will surely get found out here. We have got West Ham, Wolves, Man City and Brentford. Opportunity is there for us to make that 8 point gap huge before Europe kicks in again.
  21. Think I read on Twitter earlier that if Man City beat Newcastle this weekend then their game against Spurs will have to get moved and that the only empty slot for it will be the last week of the season. Going to guess it’s dependant on them getting through Real Madrid though. If that’s the case, makes Spurs April a bit easier but at the same time means there last 2 games will have a game against a title challenger like us. Ideally top 5 will get Champions League by then and Emery could be preparing for a Conference League final!
  22. Can see why he is not ready to start week in week out and he has a lot to learn defensively. Excited to see how he develops over the next year and what we will be thinking of him in a years time.
  23. If we get one of the lesser teams then there is the risk players might be a bit complacent whereas if we get one of the teams just below us aiming to win the competition then I guess the players will know they need to be up for it. Fenerbache, Fiorentina and Lille would be tough away games IMO.
  24. Similar to Luton away first half saw glimpses of what he will bring to the team but really needs to be smarter with his tackles. Cost himself some more minutes in the second half as he could have be booked twice already. He will learn I'm sure.
  25. Was more the first half against Luton where I saw glimpses of what he can bring. Second half of that game showed why he isn't ready to start for Villa week in week out yet but his clearly been bought for the long term to develop. Hopefully he will be given more minutes off the bench as I don't see the point bringing on Zaniolo on over him when its clear he won't be here next season. Zaniolo was only signed as cover for Buendia, got his fair share of minutes at the start of the season and has still been underwhelming. Only realised yesterday he was suspended for the game tonight. Just looking at the minutes his played in the competition - his played 90 minutes twice but apart that his played 67, 21, 16,11 and 16. Getting three bookings already is pretty poor being honest.
