  1. Lol. Scottish League Cup but close enough. Knoxville was a former Burnley legend.
  2. I really want him to stay at Villa for years and win more trophies.
  3. SJM first ever trophy. Still get emotional watching this.
  4. One word to sum up that display. Absolutely outstanding.
  5. Yip, always thought SG was going to be a great appointment for Villa after seeing how his Rangers team fared against very good European opposition. Proving to be the case so far. They just look really slick at the moment. Players look to have much more confidence and that is down to the management team.
  6. I was so right other than it was Ramsey, it was from 12 yards and there was no deflection. Magnificent.
  7. I smell a SJM 22 yarder, aided by a very minor deflection, imminently.
  8. Totally agree. Rangers and Liverpool, in my eye, set up exactly the same. The two wider men of front three would drop into midfield when required to enforce the press but wouldn’t track back as such. The narrow midfield three were always the protection for the defence. The full backs were like wingers for most of game. Just like you never see Liverpool front three taking up the spaces that Robertson and TAA run into. It seemed such a fluid system for Rangers despite them being up against rubbish most weeks. There is no doubt it works if players buy into it. Liverpool’s tactics never change and nobody appears to be able to stop them.
  9. I never really liked Liverpool and as a Scotsman, I detested Rangers but I always loved Gerrard as a player and when he came to Ibrox, you could see he was destined for bigger things. He had an aura about him and you can see that already as a young manager. Can’t explain why, it’s just there. Not saying he is going to be as successful as Alex Ferguson was but I remember he and Walter Smith had this aura that was difficult to ignore. He is sort of manager that will leave a legacy somewhere. Can’t see him jumping from club to club like an Allardyce or Bruce etc. Can really see him staying with Villa for sometime as I just can’t see results being so bad that he will get sack and he won’t leave unless it’s to you know who. Great interview by Carragher as well. For all the mistakes he has made (spitgate) he really does ask questions a fan would ask and gets some really interesting in depth answers on back of it rather than the usual, churned out cliches. Great clip.
  10. Totally agree and to be honest, when you see JG at City, he is doing nothing. Receives ball on left hand side, tries to suck defender or two in, then simply passes inside or back the way. Doesn’t move it quickly enough or be dynamic like other City players. Played better when he was more central in Watford game. Back on topic, looks like players are all taking more responsibility under SG rather than relying on an individual to take control of a game.
  11. Totally agree. They weren’t Hollywood balls either. Just 10-15 yard passes, slid through their defence that Watkins and others should have done better with.
  12. When McGinn receives ball in middle of park, it’s almost as if Leicester player knows he won’t be able to tackle him as he shields it so well before he gets pass away. Always seem to have more time than others because of this arse given ability.
  13. He has threaded pass after pass through to the Watkins and others. Could have had 3 or 4 assists if finishing was a bit better. Cracking game so far.
  14. I am 50 years of age and supported St.Mirren all my life. I have had 3 footballing heroes. Frank McAvennie, an absolute striking genius, (where West Ham became my English team when he signed for them) Ian Ferguson (who almost single handedly won us the 1987 Scottish Cup with his performances before being sold to Rangers for just short of £1M) As I got older, never really had a hero until SJM broke into our first team as a teenager. Used to be the only player to test Scott Brown of Celtic and he was loved by us. Since he has continued his journey to Hibs and Villa, I have supported him all the way, helped by the fact that he is immense virtually every game with Scotland. I have become a massive Villa fan on the back of this, and despite being 50, he is the third footballing hero I have had. Everything, as a fan, you could want from a player. He will go through wee bad spells but gives everything for that jersey and that’s all I ask for. Sorry for rambling.
  15. Stevie G is probably thinking the Premier League is a piece of piss. Got harder games against Livingston and Ross County…..lol
  16. Barisic has never totally convinced me. He is not a rampaging full back like Robertson or Tierney. He gets forward purely because Rangers usually had the ball far up the field most of the time. He was pretty solid defensively. Nothing startling. His main attribute is his wand of a left foot. Fantastic delivery even on the run without taking touch. Croatian international with good number of caps. Maybe there is better out there.
  17. Still seemed to be moving pretty quick leading up to second goal
  18. When opposition has ball, he always just positions himself so that they can’t play simple pass through the lines. Very subtle. When he gets ball, even with opponent round him, seems to have all the time in the world. Don’t think he has given it away all night. He is never going to win you a game on his own, not that type of player but every team needs someone of that ilk on the park. Let the match winners get on with it.
  19. Strolling through the game. So comfortable on ball. It’s only the SPL though. Wait…………it's the World Champions.
  20. I feel Davis needs more international experience before he be considered for a Villa Park transfer…..lol.
  21. I have been watching SJM since he was with St.Mirren. Without doubt, that is the best performance I have seen in any jersey that he has had on. Magnificent from start to finish.
