  1. There we go. We always lose to these c***s and looks like it's going to happen again. Crap 2nd half performance.
  2. Christ sake Villa, just keep it giving back to them why don't you!
  3. Jesus west Ham are clumsily dirty. Nearly half our team has gone down with injuries because of their physicality.
  4. Digne off already, f*** sake. Probably out a while if it's hamstring.
  5. Interestingly if you compared our games this season to the equivalent ones last season we also would have been on 36 points. The next 6 fixtures are tough ones though and it's difficult to say how many points we'll get. Last season we took 12 points from West Ham (L), Arsenal (W), Wolves (W), Spurs (L), Liverpool (W), Leicester (W), but I wouldn't fancy us to take that many this time round. Even an average of a point a game in the next 6 would be ok although obviously we should be looking for more. Having said that, the next 2 are sort of in our advantage given West Ham are not in great form and played away in Spain last night (with one eye on the return fixture next week), and Arsenal play Liverpool less than three days before playing us which should take quite a bit out of them. The games after the international break, the Wolves game could go either way (though we owe them for that Villa Park catastrophe), Spurs can be really good but also really poor (a better version of us) but we're well overdue a win against them at Villa Park (think the last time we beat them there was January 2008 and I was at that game), and Leicester is a winnable game although obviously not easy. The only one you could say we'll almost certainly lose is Liverpool although I thought that last season and we put 7 past them! Hopefully we can beat a few of the decent teams in the next 6, will be interesting to see how Gerrard fares against the likes of Spurs and Arsenal as they're good sides but not elite like the top 3 are.
  6. What a goal by Chambers. Cash was brilliant and MOTM by far. West Ham and Arsenal next. We’ve hit form so we have a good chance in both.
  7. Completely dominant. Should be more than one goal up. Need to get a 2nd goal to feel more relaxed.
  8. He would have been if we'd kept on losing after Watford and put ourselves in a relegation battle which should not be happening with the players we've got. It still feels like a bit of a missed opportunity because had we won games we should have instead of losing we'd now be up in 7th or 8th. Think it's harsh and a bit disingenuous to say a fan is 'extreme' if they start to question someone's ability after some poor results (not just one) and losing to likes of Brentford, Newcastle and Watford in quick succession. But it shows he's got the ability to fix things as he has done the last 2 games. Personally I feel like Mat Kendrick was right when he said after the game yesterday that when this team clicks we can beat anyone. I'm still bemused how some were questioning the quality of our players a few weeks ago.
  9. I know we always seem to struggle against these but please can we turn up and give them a good hiding. Their form since drawing with us (albeit a tough run of games): 5 straight defeats, 18 goals conceded, only 2 goals scored, and didn't score in 4 of those 5 games. In fairness they played well against Leicester and were very unlucky to lose, but they don't seem to have adapted their style much since Bielsa. If they try to dominate the ball, push their defence high up and go gung ho which I suspect they will, we should have lots of space to exploit their poor defence and score at least a couple but our defence needs to be much less generous than it was in the home game. Another good win will be really handy going into a tough run of games starting at West Ham next weekend.
  10. The last 2 performances were much more like when he first arrived and I'm glad he's turned it around as he was under a lot of pressure after the Watford debacle. Still disappointed that we have only taken 7 points from the last 5 in what was a pretty kind run for us (I was looking for 10-13 points to move us up the table and think that was realistic after the Everton win), but very relieved to have won the last 2 against top half opposition. Think we are still a team that looks dangerous when we have less of the ball and can rely on quick transitions. When we have more of the ball and teams sit back both the team and the manager seem to be lost on what to do to break teams down.
  11. Watkins said he thinks so much quicker than the other players on the pitch and you can see that. His overall intelligence and technical ability is what sets him apart from others in our team. Grealish was technically very good with his dribbles and touch, but didn't think like Coutinho or have his intelligence, always wanting to go down for the foul and stopping the play. Coutinho just seems to always have the right weight of pass and knows when to speed up and slow down. He's fantastic. He's 30 in June but has the quality in the right team to help us break into the top 7. 3-year deal in the summer makes most sense.
  12. Can definitely see Leicester overtaking Brighton and Southampton (and maybe even Wolves) although they were lucky to beat Leeds today. We need to keep pace with them but this is Villa and we've been so damn inconsistent all season sadly. If we beat Leeds on Thursday then maybe we can start getting our hopes up again.
  13. We ain't finishing 7th (that went when we failed to beat Watford and Leeds at home) and we ain't finishing as low as 16th either. We'll probably finish between 8th and 12th, hopefully closer to 8th than 12th if we can find a bit of consistency but the run of games after Leeds ain't easy. It would be nice to finish above the Dogheads that's for sure who seem to be on a slippery slope. Long may it continue.
  14. Great win and our football in the first half especially was lovely. Some cracking goals today. I was expecting Southampton's team of brilliant individuals who are supposedly all better than ours (according to a couple of their fans) to outclass us, how disappointed I was. Take that suckers. They've punched above their weight this season and we've underperformed, so hopefully we now go and do the right thing and finish above them.
  15. Yeah, I'd tend to agree. Since Sanson has come we have kept it better to be fair and slowed the game down a bit.
  16. We've probably had 40% today. When we have 60% of the ball and teams sit back we invariably always lose or draw. Hopefully that gets fixed next season but today has been a great performance.
  17. Very little possession again. We play better when we have very little of the ball.
