  1. He's an absolute workhorse, puts himself everywhere. Regardless of a couple of poorer performances recently, you can never doubt his application. Thought he was our best player today.
  2. Not good enough, only creative thing he does is shoot over the bar and occasionally score. Annoys me how he'll throw his arms up and stop playing in important positions when he feels he's been fouled. Play to the whistle man! Whingey, nothing player. Need someone way more assertive in there.
  3. Felt just like a game under Bruce. Their time wasting was quite ridiculous but we shouldn't have even been in that position. Like others have said devoid of ideas, the free flowing attacking football seems to have disappeared and we've gone back to type. I'm sure fatigue plays its part but all teams are in the same boat. We need major improvement but many of our players are mediocre championship standard. Starting to worry top 6 is going to be a real challenge from here. 1 win in 6 and 3 points from our last 4 home games. Not good enough.
  4. 5 wins from our next 5 is the requirement, way too many draws recently. It's definitely achievable before we then play Sheff Utd at home. We'd be right in the playoff mix but then have some tougher fixtures coming up. I am now solely focusing on the playoffs. If we do go on a run then maybe the door for top 2 will open again. Leeds and Norwich could easily drop quite a few more games like they did over the weekend but West Brom are right there too. The problem is I just don't see us getting the level of consistency it would require. We'll finish 5th or 6th.
  5. Yeah poor against Preston, he needs to stop trying to shepherd the ball and roll through at every opportunity as well.
  6. To be honest I've always felt quite nervy whenever Elphick has had the ball at his feet, but seeing the success at Bournemouth and listening to his interview he seems very confident he can fit into the style so maybe it was all just a lack of confidence and pressure at Villa. Seems like it went really well at Hull so hopefully he comes back with renewed confidence and may get a solid run in the team to show the player we all thought he might be. I'm not convinced though and would hope we'd still be bringing a CB in.
  7. Feel bad that he has suffered such an injury, but it'll be a relief to not panic at every set piece now. Has no presence, glued to his line, fumbly and fragile. Poor decision making too, with Preston playing so many balls over the top yesterday he didn't come out on at least two occasions where he could have and came rushing out when he shouldn't have, which we could have conceded from. Saved us two points against Swansea but has cost quite a few over the season which has no doubt contributed to the shambolic defending having this bloke behind them. He has made a few good stops but I can think of multiple goals conceded you'd expect any championship keeper to save. Will be good to hopefully see us really tighten up once January rolls around and Kalinic is in goal.
  8. Hi there guys, I've actually lingered on this site for many years as a guest. Born and bred Brummie from a family of Villa fans. First went to Villa and sat in the old Trinity Rd in the mid 90s with my Uncle. 95/96 is still peak Villa for me. Left in 2010 for Australia and I'm now back in Melbourne after a couple of years in Toronto. Have always managed to make it back, bar 2013/14, for at least one home game a season since I left. I find this forum and a few YT channels a great way to hear other fans opinion on things and would like to politely enter the discussions.
