  1. Aye, amazing where debt gets you. Hopefully they have enough left to help pay for all the memorial benches wrecked last night in George Square. Both stadia were designed by Archibald Leitch , hence there similarity. He deigned over 20 main stadia in the UK.
  2. Burley was doing a great job till Romanov replaced him with his own son I think and then it was downhill financially for mad vlad from there........eventually the authorities caught on!!
  3. Aye, ours and Hearts 4 Championships each, doesn't seem so bad now
  4. Once is understandable. Trouble is yesterday was the third "celebration" and gathering as they have congregated at Livingston last week, Ibrox on Saturday and Ibrox and Glasgow city centre yesterday. With the Celtic game at the weekend, I expect they will be there also........mind you the Green Brigade may have something to say there! At one of the last games they will be presented with the trophy so expect them back then. Sevco who are usually very good at issuing statements have said nothing apart from it is to be expected and Gerrard and his players have been encouraging the party firstly after the game on Saturday and then at and outside the training ground yesterday. Police officers attacked, fighting amongst themselves and smashing all the memorial benches in George Square just a few of their "expected" antics along with, I expect, singing about, up to their knees in Fenian blood. Scottish footballs shame. As one Motherwell fan has just said..........it is good to see a club other than Celtic or Glasgow Rangers win the League
  5. Ah the great mad vlad.........................fraud and money launderer ++++ However his biggest error was to replace George Burley when he had them flying in 2005. Certainly hate / hate relationship. However clubs do rely on selling 75% of their ground to the uglies ( except Hibs , Hearts and Aberdeen) .........finances rule in the modern game.
  6. In a word......No All the other sides look at third as being the pinacle. Since the days of Alex Fergusons Aberdeen who won it twice in the early / mid 80s the differential between the uglies and the rest has been growing mostly due to finances in football. Similarly, the financial differential between the uglies and the English Premier League has grown so at present they cannot compete with probably nearly all the teams in that League and a fair few in the English Championship...........................despite their fans thinking they are brilliant Dundee United, Motherwell and Hearts all came close in the 80's but since then it is just the domination of the uglies.
  7. Aye, I like St Johnstone as a club and their fans are fine. McDiarmid Park is a nice little ground although the playing surface seems poor this season. 10 in a row should be easier now compared to Steins day etc as the gap between the 2 uglies and the rest is growing wider and wider every season. Celtic will be kicking themselves about missing out this season...........................but having seen the chances missed yesterday would probably have missed making contact.
  8. never going to happen now...........unless the uglies p*ss off to a European League etc. We are still third having played dire football all season and are light years behind the uglies. Shows how even worse the League is this season.
  9. Aye, congratulations to sevco on their first trophy. I know they won the Tunnocks Caramel wafer cup 4 or 5 years ago but I don't count that. Police will have to make an example or its going to be carnage especially at Celtic Park next week .........already kicking off in Glasgow centre and trains from Edinburgh to Glasgow "rammed". Yesterday would have been the perfect opportunity to do so but allowed them to gather ( especially after they gathered outside the Tony Macaroni Stadium last Wednesday) and do what they wanted and also sevco allowed their players to go and celebrate with them from inside the ground. Flew a light airplane over Tannadice today with a suitable "55" banner behind it ( whats that all about ) but I expect the Police didn't investigate where it came from and whether any travel restrictions had been breached..........then there are the flares they threw into the ground today.............. However any team winning the League are likely to see some fans gather ..........as long as it is a one off........however in this case ...?? As I have said before, especially this season, the SPLeague is more sh*t than usual as we are still third having played the most dire football I have seen from Hibs in many many years, Lennon and Celtic lost their toys out the pram early on, but I suppose they will celebrate as though they are World Club champions.
  10. Sometimes you have to mix it up so putting SJM on the bench for a game or two seems like a good idea. Would give him a little bit of a rest , still use him as a sub but more importantly give opposition coaches something different to think about.
  11. Disappointing result and you seem to suffer from the same problem we have. This is when the opposition score first we find it hard to get past a packed defense. I think we have only got 3 points from games where we have gone behind........not sure what the figures are like for Villa but watching last night it was the same type of game after the goal in that there was plenty of possession, crosses ++ and corners but everything relying on United making a mistake. Credit to them in that they fought and defended well even when down to 10 men. I did make the point before the game that Villa would have to match their fight and desire and someone did reply saying as they are almost certainly down there should not be too much trouble..........not my experience of football teams at the bottom end of the table. Just takes a set piece or a player switching off to let the opposition in and then there is a mountain to climb if the bus gets parked in front of you! The big miss of course is Jack. We lost our attacking midfielder who could produce the unexpected and so turn a game with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in August and so are left with a midfield that is busy but too predictable. Villa look the same when Jack isn't in the team and that spark he provided is missing. Even when he is not on the ball the opposition will either man mark him or double up which in turn leaves space for the other players. Still I think it does show how Villa have progressed in that the fans are disappointed at the faltering steps towards European football whereas a year ago everyone was looking at the foot of the table and for a time relegation looked a certainty. Ironically it was probably that "non goal" against Sheffield United that VAR missed that helped keep Villa up. So there is still plenty to look forward to and with a couple of more players hopefully they will continue to improve. Biggest danger is if Jack goes, so at least another creative type midfielder is required. These are fairly rare and up here there is only one that might eventually get back to the England Leagues and that is Ryan Kent of sevco. He was eventually released by Liverpool and I think it helped that Gerrard was at sevco that allowed the transfer after a loan spell. I like him as a player and "makes things happen" as well as being a good finisher. I expect him to go down South but will have to wait and see if it is to the Premier League or the Championship. Again there is always that jump in class and we will have to wait and see if he can bridge it.........I think he will As they say up here...................."haste ye back" Jack
  12. 'mon Villa.............type of game you need to win. They are scrapping for everything at the moment so Villa have to match that desire and fight.
  13. John Collins is perhaps correct that they need a director of football first. Incidentally he was the second best manager we had this century...........up untill some players revolted that he worked them too hard.
  14. Tony Mowbray, in my opinion, is the best manager we have had in the last 20 years. ( if not longer) He brought an exciting attacking brand of football to Easter Road we haven't seen since he left. He couldn't take Celtic to the heights that their support bayed for so didn't last long. He has shown since ( and at West Brom before) he is a good manager but won't ever set the World on fire............however is much better that Paul Lambert who struggles at whichever club he goes to. As Zatman says, Brendan Rodgers is the best they have had for a while but did come with a top pedigree having almost won the League title with Liverpool...........oh that Gerrard slip They will do well to get that type of manager now without splashing the cash not only on wages but also players they would want to bring in.
  15. Pity, but of course he is correct. Anybody who gets the job has to hit the ground running and start the winning ways ASAP. The smeltic support will stand for nothing less as there is no place for being second in their eyes.
  16. Paul Lambert to Celtic????????..........................................................please
  17. Outside the top two, there is little to choose between any of the rest. The teams that beat the uglies didn't make it to the final......Ross and St Mirren. Pleased for St Johnstone, despite beating us in the semi, as it is the first time they have won the League Cup. They are now the second most successful side in Scotland in the last 10 years behind Celtic having won the Scottish Cup in 2014.
  18. Did the same with us and we knew then the time had come for him to go. Fortunately the caretakers job came up at Celtic. Writing was on the wall some months ago that his mental health was suffering again so the Board should have acted immediately.
  19. There will be a new broom throughout the whole of Celtic FC including a Boardroom re-shuffle. This has been coming for a long time so I would imagine Desmond has already got his plan going for a replacement.
  20. Some of their prima donna players never got "10 in a row" and certainly haven't performed for him. Steve Clarke is a good shout and feel Celtic will look closer to home for their next appointment ( especially for financial reasons) .............hands off Ross
  21. Doubt it is a straightforward resignation....................some arrangements will have gone on behind the scenes.
  22. Surprised it took so long. Shown up this season to be an average manager at best. Hope his fragile mental health recovers from all the sh*t and dross comments he has been getting from the so called Celtic fans. His high wage earners at Celtic Park should look at themselves as they have let him down .........look at the chances they missed against the staggies the other night. Been a great servant as a player and manager to Celtic Football Club and should always be a legend there.
  23. Not much to beat in fairness with Lennon losing the plot for most of the season and the usual sevco overspend. FFS, we are third having played eye bleeding stuff all season, , so shows the poor standard. Gerrard got the SFA and refs in his pocket early on.......................biggest question is will sevco have a penalty given against them this season. Even Hagi kicking our guy Newell in the head by the penalty spot didn't merit a pen ( Newell was standing at the time!) so I think I know the answer to that. Hard to judge how good Gerrard will become as he won't find it easy street down South and if he did do a Lampard and went to Liverpool I think it would end the same way at present. Needs to find a good Championship side and have the dogfight of promotion to the Premier League, if he does that then Anfield would come calling. If he wants a real challenge then perhaps he should look at Small Heath Alliance, where he may have to try and get them out of Div 1 first.
  24. Petition going to get him re-instated by the Accies fans.
