  1. I wonder if the massive step up in wages and size of clubs has an impact as they lose their desire as they think they have made it.
  2. Yet another example of a Brentford player who moved on and failed to impress. Was our player of the year then left for Stoke who paid 7 mill and has failed to hold down a starting place under 2 managers.I think after your similar experience with Hogan best you give our players a big swerve
  3. I wonder if Dean is just helping his old club start an auction for Benrahma with Arsenal West Ham and Palace all showing interest.
  4. Selling players hasn’t helped along with the fact we don’t get loan players in anymore, haven’t done for past 2 seasons. We are a bit like a poor mans Arsenal very good on the eye but soft under belly mainly due to not having a tough guy in midfield.Thomas Frank has started to address this in signing a defensive midfielder last month and I’m sure we have at least another 5 players to come in this summer.I hope we can hold on to most of our players and give it a go next season but if clubs meet our valuations players will leave there is nothing you can do about it.
  5. Hilarious,I expect you will be first up to call for a change if you lose the first 2 games. Some fans don’t do any research.
  6. It’s not Dean Smiths Brentford he came into a very stable set up with excellent support team and did a great job.He always talked highly about his DoFs and the owner even after he left us.Its down to your scouting network to replicate what he had with us.
  7. I agree with all of that but think we need Maupay more than Benrahma next season if we want a top six finish.Maupay would be a big gamble in PL,yes I would say thatbut you are talking similar money for Mitrovic at Fulham who is a far better and still only 24.I expect you are right about the deal that will get done.Remember Dean has seen him in training and is more aware than most of his talent.
  8. Sorry but you sound like those fools down the road after they signed Jota Colin and Harlee and you know how that went
  9. I don’t rate him even top championship let alone PL thought he was a liability at times defending.Looks very comfortable on the ball like all our defence but weak in the air imho
  10. Not my business or money but our owner has got a history of not getting mugged off like we used to by big clubs.A recent example was with Bournmouth who bid 6 million for Chris Mepham last year then 10 mill at the start of last season both were turned down he went eventually for 13 mill ++.The fact that we sold well over 30 million pounds worth of players last season tells me we can afford to wait for the right price whatever that means especially when the player is still under a long contract.Benrahma will leave I believe as he is quality and other clubs will come in for him as well as Villa and that will push the price up to around 18 to 20 mill thats with add ons.
  11. You are correct Benrahma is our best player.
  12. Benrahma is rated higher than Maupay as far as transfer value so I would expect we would be looking for 20 million plus.Really hope we can keep him and Maupay for at least one more season as from what I hear we are lining up some more physical signings this summer to address our soft under belly especially away from home. Then hopefully you can all get a chance to see Maupay and Benrahma playing at Villa Park. in a Brentford shirt
  13. Not when we beat you 1 0 back in February,Thomas Frank changed the formation at the turn of the year to a back 3 and continued to play that till the end of season.
  14. I’m fluent in Spanish so I can help here, translated he said “I am proud to be joining a proper club with a great manager who I worked with at another great club. The last 2 seasons have been a nightmare after meeting a bastardo called Arry and ending up at a place from hell.”
  15. He played mainly on the right wing where he would predictably but effectively cut inside and shoot with his left.Would also drift central and look for a ball over the top.Surprised at you going for him but if he can hit the form he did on many occasions for us could prove a great signing. He is a class act shame he wasted 2 seasons down the road playing for a poor side.
  16. Won’t be coming back to us as you said we mainly buy players to further their careers and then make us money.I thought Dean would have got more out of him but it’s hard to believe he’s played nearly twice as many games for you than he did for us.What with Woods at Stoke also out of favour it makes you wonder why some of these players who leave us their form goes down when their wages increase.
  17. Sorry if already posted but Jota was signed by Warburton for Bees
  18. Don’t take this the wrong way but you can piss right off
  19. He had 2 spells with us after returning to Spain for domestic problems where he hardly played.Got a hero’s welcome when he returned and gave me some wonderful memories with goals against Fulham and QPR.Have to remember he barely played more than 60:games for us over 3 seasons and as with these types of players there is no middle ground when their good they are superb but when their bad they are a liability.Left a bad taste with how he left but he was piss poor at the start of the season when he left.To answer your question Said Benrahma who we signed last season is a far better all round player than Jota and we will do well to keep hold of.Whether he will do well in the PL is debatable but obviously Dean feels he is capable he was dreadful everytime he played against us for City but no surprise as they never had decent players around him.He is far from a 1 trick pony dispite his predictable Left foot has to be one of the most skillfull and exciting players we have seen over the last 20 years.Could form an exciting partnership with Grealish
  20. Surprised at Dean going for Jota great player for us on his day badly damaged at his time at hoof ball Birmingham City where he played more games than he did for us.Scored an impressive 23 goals for us and a poor 8 for them if Dean can get a tune out of him it’s great business. very predictable and 90% all left foot but good option from the bench.
  21. Thomas Frank after a poor run that started before Dean left has done an excellent job and got us to another top half finish. In a season where we sold 7 players and got over 35£million in fees and lost our manager I see that as a good achievement. Most of our fans wish Dean well and after the events of our home game with Derby where one of our fans was wrongly accused of racial abuse towards one of their players and has now been cleared we were all cheering Villa on.There was also another incentive as Villa now have to pay usanother 1.5 mill on the Hogan fee due to your promotion. If we can hang on to most of our our players along with the expected new signings we could we be in the mix at the end of the season.Dean worked well with Thomas over 2 seasons and believe they both learnt a lo off each other. Ive been in Deans company and his brother who came to a couple of bees away games and he is a down to earth decent bloke who’s story about his poor dad had me in tears even though I knew of his illness anyway I do go on a bit good luck next season Brighton Sheffield United and Norwich I think will go down.
  22. Good to read the positive posts and love for Dean on here and the ones who have put there hands up for being critical in the past and us fans all know this is the best it gets as far as fans being united. There is a great picture of Dean with Jack lifting the cup Monday and really hope some remember that high when things may go a bit off the tracks next season and give Dean and Richard time to rectify it.My hope is we can get up next year and welcome Dean and Villa to our new stadium the following season.
