  1. If you get shot of DS before he’s had time to work with better players then your owners need to be held to account.I posted on here when he joined about the set up he left at Brentford where none of the players he inherited or were signed during his time were from Prem league or even the championship they were from lower leagues or abroad the majority being under 22.He has inherited the opposite at Villa and it’s obvious you have too many players at the end of their careers or on loan(something we stopped doing 2 years ago)Would expect Dean to be asking what the director of football is doing regarding getting good young players signed for him to work with.
  2. You are right there wasn’t a big reaction from fans when he left as it’s something most of our reasonable fans have accepted with Managers and players moving on to bigger clubs and massive wage increases.I expect he will get a warm welcome back next week from most of our fans.Dean was very popular with our young squad and after he left along with the sad death of our young technical director there was a big cloud of doom around the place which now appears have been lifted after losing 9 in 10 we are now 9 unbeaten after the coach changed our playing set up.I hope Dean is successful and takes you back to the PL but I just hope he’s given time.Villa is a massive change for Dean as he had an excellent support network that left him purely to coach the team while he was (apart from Sawyers and Henry who came from Walsall)presented with young players mainly from abroad with potential where at Villa they can afford to buy the finished article when he gets the opportunity in the summer transfer market but that will come with pressure that he never had with us.Dean is a real leader of men and has captained every team he’s played for just hope he’s not warming the seat for JT.Looking forward to next Wednesday will be plenty of goals for sure.
  3. Finished 5th the season before he took over so he never improved us during his time.
  4. If that happens and Villa don’t go up what does that say about your club and Dean Smith who I expected to get him back scoring goals as he did at Brentford.or was that down to Thomas Frank
  5. Very surprised he hasn’t had more game time since Dean took over and he hasn’t got him scoring goals. He was excellent for us over what some on here are calling a purple patch but remember when he joined us looking at his similar purple patch at Rochdale and the goals he scored were very impressive.Would have him back any day if only we could afford him.
  6. Thought he took it well
  7. He was exceptional at the start of the season alongside Mepham but we started looking vulnerable just before Smith left letting in stupid goals that got steadily worse with both looking poor.Mepham got injured and we started playing 3 central defenders Konsa Jeanvier and Barbet we haven’t lost, gone 7 unbeaten since without mepham getting any game time even when he was fit.Think that was why we accepted the lower asking price for Mepham.Konsa is now playing very well and hopefully we can hang on to him for a few more seasons.
  8. Can’t argue with your last point,I got a bit carried away. You have to remember playing a game at Villa park a few years back would represent a great fa cup fixture for us
  9. Of course we are a selling club, aren’t most.We are a small club who are punching above our weight in the Championship whereas you are one of the many big clubs who are focused on the PL and won’t be happy until you get back there. Most of our fans understand we have to sell to survive otherwise we will end up bouncing around in Div 1 and 2 like we have for the last 60 years. The model might one day get us into the play offs again but I suspect we will be lucky to keep producing or scouting good young players at the present rate.Mepham was the first player we have sold to a PL side so all our other big transfers have gone to our rivals in the championship.
  10. No he only scored 21 goals in 33 games, who was the last Villa striker to have that ratio Peter Withe
  11. So have all our previous high priced departures,in fact he is the first to join a PL club. They leave for a lot more money I have kinda worked out
  12. Would have been ever more hilarious if you’d paid 10 mill for a dominant championship striker and he flopped Oh hold on
  13. No the player decided and in the long term depends what the add ons were as to how much the total fee will be for the club and of course the players deal.example you bid 14 mill no add ons Bournmouth bid 12 + 3 mill after completing a number of games. Its hardly a snub if a PL side make you an offer especially as they look comfortable in mid table.
  14. In actual fact you offered more but Eddie Howe has been after him for 2 windows and dispite JTs efforts he wanted PL football now.Thats second Bees player in a week you have had a knock back.sounds like JT has more involvement on your transfer targets than Dean has.Hiw long before he is named manager?
  15. Helped by the fact our owner also owns a Danish club
  16. He signed 2 players for Brentford Sawyers and Henry the others were either already there or brought in by our DoFs.Look at where a lot of our players were playing before signing 6 of our starting line up yesterday were from abroad. Not knocking Dean as I think he’s a good coach and the players loved him
  17. We have always suffered from conceding too many goals under DS especially from winning positions but our offensive and general play has always made this issue acceptable for most of our fans who have far less expectations than yours.I always felt JT would be the one to address that possible flaw in Deans defence coaching. We have now changed our defence to playing 3 central defenders in the last 6 games in which we are now unbeaten and conceding a lot fewer goals after a dreadful run that got us 1 win in ten after DS left.I expect this forum would go into meltdown if you had a similar run
  18. Warburton and Rosler come to mind Dean Smith will do well if given time.
  19. To be honest a lot of the players we sell just get richer very few improve.Look at Jota Dean and Colin
  20. Yes he’s suffered 2 long term injuries since joining a dislocated shoulder and a cruciate so yes very few games 28 in 2 years. His cruciate kept him out a year and just returned 2 months ago.Hope this puts off any potential buyers as I believe he will play for England one day
  21. Not sure you are in a position to buy anything at the moment, dispite what your newCEO said when you signed Dean Smith.I know you are joking re the 10 mill
