I am sure if you are paying that sort of money you play him as a striker and let him progress as one.As some have pointed out on here most strikers need a season under their belt before you get what you paid for.Looks like Toney has been confirmed now for us which I’m very happy about.

Think Maupay has done ok in his first season Scoring 10 goals at Brighton and in the PL bit like his first season for us when one of our fans posted he was the worse striker in our history.If I had the choice I’d take Watkins who’s a lot bigger and faster.

Watkins has the appearance of a pretty boy but he’s as tough as old boots doesn’t get wound up is rarely booked or injured.Over the years seen the likes of Gray,Hogan ( very good for us but over only 30 games )Vibe and Maupay and Oli is by far the better all round player.My only concern would be that the few times he played as striker under Dean he was ineffective but I’m sure he has studied how Thomas has got the best out of him.This isn’t a dig at Dean as Maupay was our first choice striker and we set up a lot different these days.Theres no certainties when you are paying 50 mill for a striker in the PL but at around 20 mill plus add ons it’s a fair gamble.

We were poor in the play off final all over the pitch but if you saw the 2 league games against Fulham which we won and most games last season you might have a different opinion.Whoever he signs for in the PL he will get goals and I predict this Tuesday we will announce a big signing and Watkins will be paraded in a Villa shirt for an undisclosed fee so not to upset the account fans on here

I believe we already have replacements waiting to be announced although it’s not that easy to replace the top scorer in the championship and whoever we get in it will come with risks.Toney it seams is one

Ok it comes down to do you want him or are you going to have another Maupay moment.Stop comparing him to Hogan who played very few games for us due to 2 career threatening inJuries.Watkins can play central or wide and get you goals.Look at his injury record very seldom misses a game.Remember the championship is rated higher than a lot of these other countries top divisions.

Think you are right.Although looks like we have had to pay more for Toney than expected.But then Watkins and Toney up front is exciting.

Common knowledge Watkins has been with the squad at St George’s all week left yesterday not through injury so wasn’t involved in the friendly v Derby.Heard from various contacts around the club that he was discussing a potential move to a number of PL clubs then Lyall Thomas Sky sports reporter who has close contacts to our club reported he was talking to Fulham.One things for certain he will be leaving where to who knows hope it’s Villa and think it’s a better career move than Fulham and that’s nothing to do with local rivalries or they pipped us in the play offs.Leeds please No

Benrahma self isolating is a fact along with Watkins agent in talks with Fulham but doesn’t mean he’s signing for them.There are also at least 4 other PL clubs including Villa wanting to have discussions so I expect it’s going to be a long process as Brentford and Watkins arnt going to jump at the first offer especially as we want 25 mill for him.

Could be old news as we tried to sign him last summer maybe he’s changed his agent.

One negative regarding Watkins playing central striker as is widely reported this is his first full season and our coaching staff can take a lot of credit.When Dean played him there a few times due to injuries to Maupay he was like a duck out of water.Hopefully Dean has studied how we now play him as you don’t want another Hogan situation who was excellent for us.If Oli goes anywhere I hope it’s to Villa.

Thanks but we had 3 chances and failed,most teams only get 1.Apart from the money can’t think of any big disappointments on not playing in the PL I love the championship and being able to compete with the many big clubs in it.We will of course sell a few players and then wait to see if we manage to replace and still improve which is a task we have been good at in the past.I was more gutted not being able to say goodby to Griffin Park but hopefully will be able to attend matches at our new stadium ASAP.

His shots on goal from free kicks have been poor,that’s all I could say negatively about him.Still think he is bound for a London side though.
