It's actually suprising how involved with the fans Tony is. He's actually coming across more as a passionate fan owner than someone in it purely for business. For everyone's sake I really hope it pays off for him this season, if we get success and continue to achieve then we could have the best owner around. My worry is what happens when/if he gets bored

AHAHAHAHAHA this has made my day. Thought we'd be stuck with him, especially after his euro adventure. We must have someone new in the outgoing transfer department. We're shifting the dross out rightly with no questions asked!

Just imagine. Gestede and Crouch upfront. If this happens it's great that we're finally signing players that fit into our playing style!

He was a liability most of last season. alongside guzan at the back its no wonder we shipped so many. His euro campaign wasn't exactly suprising either. Make no doubt we have a very weak defence - Guzan and Clarke out is fairly welcome. Altho I do think we're in danger of selling off players that we can't replace. Clarke et al might not be great but I really think we should be replacing them first to at least guarantee we can get the upgrade.

Early doors to revive this thread I know. But there's very few of us being optimistic about this coming season

First half was definitely better than the second. But then again Middlesborough barely turned up at the start. Once they scored their first we were always going to lose. It really was the same old story. It doesn't matter who plays for me, everybody looks like their playing for themselves and not the team. The majority of the second half yesterday was like watching a schools cup game. It just looked like a disorganised mess, players had given up and the ones that were still going were just running out of options. The Middlesborough friendly was the most important for us. It gave us a stab at playing a team promoted from the championship last season. It gave us a level to aim for and let us know what to expect from the top teams in the league. Judging by the second half we're a long way off the pace already ....

Guys... Surely Gollini will be our number one this season?

Well it WAS only 3 months ago! Same old story today. As soon as we conceded the heads dropped. 3-1 defeat was inevitable after that. Theres a lot of work to be done within a week. Almost feels as if we should have got some more new signings in earlier

Middlesbroughs season starts in two weeks, no doubt they have another game or two arranged after this. Would still expect them to be more competitive though, playing what is a premier league team from last season away from home should be a good test for their preparations. overall good first half tho. We are SCREAMING out for a striker though. Good number of chances where we could have gone a few more up. Hutton and cissokho have done well on the wings. Gestede looks well off the pace, needs to sort himself out n get into better positions As a side not, well impressed by the clubs approach to free streaming the pre season. Whoever thought of that needs a gold star.

Sure they haven't added anyone yet, but they've been consistent over the last number of seasons pushing for promotion. Pearson back in management with a point to prove. And the division so far hasn't exactly been a flurry of activity on the transfer front. Strangely most teams are still unchanged from 3 months ago I'd be very suprised if they weren't up there.

Yes I realise thankyou derby and Brighton have been strong consistent contenders over the last few seasons, they'll be well up there. Counting Newcastle out is foolish as well.

Derby, Newcastle and Brighton have the promotion spots pretty comfortably for me as it stands.

Bit unfair to compare the two tbh. Gana only joined us 12 months ago and never played in England before. Granted he didn't exactly set the league on fire, but it was only his first English season.

I'm being a complete doom merchant I know. It's along season, but I just don't have the faith in the current team if they start off this coming season the way last season ended. I really don't think they could take another couple of poor results on the trot. If we get a couple of strong players on I'll be happier, but they need to come in soon...
