  1. Just seen that David Bernstein and Brian Little are joining the board..
  2. This was pretty close. It's even more hefty than we thought.
  3. Surely Hollis will get rid at the end of the season. His salary, if true, is ridiculous for our position and his input. Haven't even had a bloody 'Let's be having you' speech. Tosspot.
  4. I don't think we need a new XI. I actually think we have some good players. Take Gana or Ayew and put them into a better squad and I'm sure they'll look great. I'd really like to keep: Cissokho - He's been great since coming back. Amavi - For once we have a bit of decent depth here. Would be good to see him back, challenging Aly. Okore - I like him. Maybe because I have fond memories of the Okore/Clark partnership last season. Clark - He makes mistakes, but he's physical. Could do with him down there to get the usual yellows. Bacuna - I think he'll be a good asset in the Championship. Ayew - If we can keep him alone I'll be happy. Passionate and a quality player. Gestede - Proven at Championship level. I think he'll shine for us next year. Adama - He'll tear things up and won't be easily bullied. Gana - Been one of our best players this season Veretout - Had some good games. I think that's about it. Offload the rest and replace with quality. If it's a choice between keeping Guzan as backup or Bunn as backup, I'd opt for Bunn as I suspect his wages are lower and get a new first choice in. Toying with adding Hutton to the list as I like how he gets forward. Decided he was just a little too replaceable and probably on high wages.
  5. Saw Bruce's name this morning in an article suggesting he's top of our list. I'm out.
  6. I've thought about this over night and I can only come to one conclusion. Firstly, for AVFC. Garde wasn't appointed by this board. Garde was appointed by the same group that bought in Richards and Lescott. Do we know Garde's salary? He could go simply from Hollis' cost cutting. Is he the man we need now? In my honest opinion, no. I like the man and think he has a very bright future, but this isn't for him. The current squad of big personalities requires someone much tougher, I believe, with more experience. For Garde. He had a good reputation coming to Villa and has had some success in France prior to this. He's one of the few people in the squad who could potentially leave and see be in the Premier League next season. He strikes a defeated figure after only a small time in charge. I'm not sure he's cut out for the current Villa way. The scrapping, the negativity, the lack of funds or interest from the owner. Why should he stick around? The timing. So now I've reached the conclusion that I would probably be better for both parties to part ways, but when? There's temptation to say wait until the end of the season, and I see where that's coming from. Largely this season is a write off and we are already down. But then, we have a quarter of the season still to play. 9 games to look less embarrassing and grind out results. It wouldn't be pretty and we would almost certainly be looking at Pearson or someone like that to come in and do it. Would that work? Someone once said to me that if you ask someone really successful in business how many bad ideas they had on the way, the answer would be a lot. It only takes one good idea and you're away, but you have to go through the crap ones to get there. Maybe the Villa managerial merry go round is the same. Could work, most likely won't. So my conclusion? I think we will part ways, be it through sacking or walking, we will part company. It all comes down to the when. Yes we know we're down, but let's have a crack at a fight. Make positive moves. I believe we should part company with Garde today and get someone in who's experienced in both a relegation scrap and a promotion fight. Then we have a few months to learn which players to keep, or to grind out enough lucky wins. As a note, I do really like Garde. Wrong manager, wrong time.
  7. The board didn't hire him though. Not this board at least. Remember Hollis is supposedly investigating problems at the club. He may have identified Garde as one of those problems, rightly or wrongly.
  8. Interesting story in the Mirror. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/aston-villa-boss-remi-garde-7501206
  9. I hope he doesn't wait. I want him to walk away tonight. I like him and think he will be successful elsewhere. Him going would be another nail in the coffin of Fox and his chums. A change might even get us some results. Probably not and we can never stay up now but hey, nothing to lose.
  10. MOTM has to be our left upright. Saved a penalty and kept the score at just the 4.
  11. Need a complete clear out. So many poor attitudes and poor performances on the pitch. Stick with largely this squad and we won't stand a chance of coming back up next season. We are awful.
  12. It's like watching walking football.
  13. At this point it doesn't matter. KMac, Garde, we're still going down whatever. I hear Hollis was a good manager at KPMG, let him have a crack for the remaining games. That's how we roll now, right?
  14. Any more for Citeh and I reckon Garde will go. If not, he should walk away. Untenable position, guaranteed relegation. I admire his loyalty, but he can and should go off to do other, better things
  15. We are so shit it's unbelievable. Forget can we stay up, we don't deserve to stay up.
  16. Not even angry or upset. Just accepted it all now. Quite liberating actually.
  17. The new half time croissant and coffee snack is really crippling us.
  18. Gabby shouldn't even be allowed back out on the bench. He has epitomised this clubs attitude at the moment. Lazy and defeatist. We don't need that.
  19. Lescot is MOTM so far for me. Put in some very well timed and much needed tackles. Still dislike the pocket dialing tosspot.
  20. We've lasted until half time!!!!!1!!!!!
  21. Gabby is causing moves to break down now as well as being lazy. Get him off and get Gestede on. Hell, even Scotty looked aright the other day.
  22. Gabby needs to come off at half time. Absolute passenger.
  23. Gabby just pissed me right off. Defender had the ball about 2 meters in front of him and he turned to start running back instead of getting stuck in. Does he want to be here!?
