  1. I'm afraid as the resident Jock (no offence to Jondaken) The only time I'd want England to win is if it had an automatically good effect on Villas performances and as it doesn't
  2. This to the thisness degree of thisness
  3. Typical bleeding Accountant. Pays half of his equivalent UK rate and moans :winkold: Dire straights on IOM then Risso, 1 pint less a week
  4. I'd say we were, at worst, average for OECD countries. We're probably low to average on direct taxes Snowy, it the indirect stuff where we lead the world
  5. Yes they did, don't you remember the boastful cry of "no more boom and bust"
  6. Voted yes, I have a pink shirt, both manufacturer and colour
  7. You say stuff and nonsense but that is not true. If you purchase a house you still need that info typically for a mortgage approval (1) Now the Solicitors fees go back up to get this info - so how exactly is the winner here? HIPS is yet another burden to the seller, but I would keep it. Instead I would introduce a law where an agreement to purchase is binding and that both the purchaser and the seller are bound to pay 10% of the agreed price in the event that either wish to pull out (2) I haven't sold many houses, but all bar one have had problems with buyers pulling out, ultimately costing me money and aggravation. The way things are set up in this country someone can 'commit' to buy, lead you down the garden path for 3 months and then pull out, with absolutely no financial penalty to them. Enboldened bits. 1) No you don't. Not even a little bit. 2) There's a law there already at contract exchange which commits both purchaser and seller. Any law coming in earlier than exchange would be both unworkable and a demand for far more problems than currently occur. Can I suggest you both review the Scottish system on house purchases. Down here is a 3 ring circus in comparison. basically once an offer is accepted it's legally binding on both parties with swingeing penalties for renaging. Yes you have to have a survey done before you offer but it means everyone knows everyone's serious from the get go and I only had 1 survey where I didn't succeeed in buying the house.
  8. Damn and blast, Finally get a subject I can expound on and a bloody accountant gets in first on a commercial subject BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  9. Agreed Jon, They've only been in place for less than a week, lets give them some time to show what they can do and whether they can realise the values they're promoting. It'd be really refreshing to get away from the Yah Boo spin centred crap we've lived with recently
  10. Morning Sir, There's an article below entitled "Randy Lerner, An Honest Fan". 2 things a) Finally a member of the press who "gets it" Get a copy to Randy please - we appreciate what he has and is doing
  11. I think your sig needs attention Tony
  12. Seriously Mike, Principles - when referring to Politicians. Party members perhaps but career politicians choke on that word edited for atrocious spelling mistake
  13. Drat, My issue is that it would seem we're trying something new and different in our government and rather than give it a chance and lets see whether it falls, fails or (seemingly worst case scenario) It Works. The "Labour" element are intent on attacking it immediately and working to make sure it doesn't work. Cynical spin as far as I'm concerned and typical of the way labour have looked at everything in the world which doesn't go their way over the last several years. I know you can't see that because you believe deeply in Labour and I admire you for that but when the default position of labour supporters is "It's not what we want and therefore completely wrong" I struggle to take any pronouncements seriously
  14. I do love this spin being put out that this fledgeling coalition is the effective absorption of the Lib Dems into the Tories. It's been in place for what.... 3 days at most and already the Campbell / Mandy attack hounds are letting us know the "Truth" or at least their version of it. If it wasn't so predictable it'd be hilarious
  15. Now, why am I not surprised by that
  16. Levi's post on page 16 (way too big to quote) I found very interesting and if you haven't yet then it's well worth a read. To take it a stage further. If this works then it will cause rifts in many parties. The middle ground Labour sympathisers will see this as attractive and the wide left can bugger off to the SWP or reinvent the communists or actually stay as Labour as the rest join the "Centre Coalition" party. The middle ground Tories would stay on board and join the "Centre Coalition" and the far right can piss off to the BNP where they belong or rope them in ti the New Tory party. The Centre Coalition then starts infighting in about 20 years and we end up with 25 parties and permanent negotiated coalition government till doomsday Anybody other than those bastions of the far left and right (Drat and Tony) see an issue with this Thus leaving the rest of us happy and content in the knowledge that these extremists will still be heard via PR but that won't matter Edited as forgot to end properly
  17. Jeeez, haven't you heard the groans at VP when someone misplaces a pass We're all as bad
  18. Agreed Bicks and I'm sure it won't be on it's own
  19. Happy enough to wait and see what it brings but, How the hell did that useless pice of shit Osborne get to stay as chancellor, even (or especially) his mates in the city aren't enthused.
  20. Agreed Richard, Got this from the BBC website
  21. Need to correct you here Jon. "English population", does that mean being a Jock living in England I won't get the shitty end of the stick? and those Taffs who commute across the Severn bridge to work in England wont. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
  22. Yes Drat it's part of the thread. We had 3 "Leaders Debates" all singing the "Our Brave Lads" tune and now while they have their secret negotiations on who gets the electric stapler in the cabinet office "Our Brave lads" get treated like shit. Not good enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
