  1. Exactly how I've heard it too. The board sold low to allow the money to go to the club direct for investment as opposed to into their bank accounts. It sounds like Moshiri would have been the ideal type of guy for you lot, which begs the question, why weren't you all over that when we've been in discussions with him for over a year, supposedly. Is Lerner even trying to find a buyer or just sitting there waiting for someone to come and throw money at him? It's a similar situation to what many believe was happening at Goodison for ages with Kenwright not actively looking for a buyer, though it's only guess work...he would argue he was waiting for the right person...
  2. As someone said, everyone is different and respond to different treatments. Some can survive on therapy, others need (or at least feel like they need) medication to survive. I've been on Sertraline before and it certainly worked but I was determined and found therapy helped a lot. I can cope pretty well in the main but I do struggle at times. I'm actually really pleased there is a thread like this on here. It's difficult to explain to people who don't understand, and certainly scary thing to talk about with your friends, even more so if you are a guy but talking definitely helps...
  3. Wow. I'm almost lost for words at that. Reminds me of the Arsenal fans on twitter arguing over whether Jackson Martinez was 28 or 29...
  4. Oh go find a cucumber to play with
  5. No, I'm a busy lady these days (usually, off work today though!) but I'm going to try and pop back on here a bit more often!
  6. Ahhh, ok. I understand now. Should always be on the day it happened.
  7. I came into this thread really innocently. Now I am utterly confused Did his dad die on February 29th 2012 or March 1st 2015? I also don't know why I'm so eager to find this out, but I feel like I have to know now!
  8. Even longer than half an hour, I've suggested this to people involved in OTDO74 as well...may be another step...
  9. This is true. That sort of reaction just wouldn't have the same impact of thousands of fans getting up and leaving though. I know that this protest on Tuesday will only be the start but for one, I seriously hope people see through the apathy and actually believe they can make a difference, and walk out. If people believe it is pointless, are you giving up on your club? You should fight. I know people will say it's easy for me to say as I'm not a Villa fan but we've had our own issues with our board, we've had a lot of infighting, a divided fanbase... You need to be united, fight for the common cause and that is the best for your club. Believe you can make a difference, make a stand. I really hope this is a success and the start of change and hope for you all. Genuinely.
  10. I think the priority will be a new ground in a park down the road from Goodison called Walton Hall Park. We've already discussed it a lot with the council, and they seem willing...funding was always the main issue. I don't know if you've been but Goodison is a small footprint, surrounded by houses and a school. Very difficult to expand upon that.
  11. I don't know if I'd be there early enough for that but anyone near me would probably all run a mile at my horrendous scouse twang anyway.
  12. Well, I'm actually far happier with his than if a full takeover was to happen. Kenwright has been a good owner, I won't have people who say he hasn't been. His real downfall is that he has about as much money as I do, and that's not an awful lot... He's not been perfect, he has lied, he has avoided awkward situations through various techniques, but he has always promised he'd find the right guy to sell to. I get the impression the shares to Moshiri were sold cheap so that most of the money will go to the club as an investment rather than to someone's pockets. It seems he has promised to invest in the team, a new stadium and source commercial revenue. I'd guess this is a precurser to a future full takeover when the likes of the stadium situation are sorted. I was extremely apprehensive at the thhought of the Americans taking over, they sounded like chancers to be honest. Far happier with this outcome at present!
  13. Don't come on here much anymore but just to throw in my tuppence worth from an outside perspective. Haven't read any of the thread but followed a but on social media and I'd be fully behind this campaign if I was a Villa fan. I know a fair few great Villa fans and out of every club in the league, Villa has always been the one I most had an affinity for. Our clubs are so similar in so many ways and only a few years ago we were both challenging up the top and enjoying an exciting rivalry of sorts. It hurts me as a football fan to see a proper, real football club with a heart and soul that so reminds me of Everton, struggling as you are right now. It's incredibly frustrating that their has not been more pressure on the board from the media, who overlook us less glamourous clubs nowadays it seems. I believe this starting point is a great starting point to build a campaign, and I wholly understand some people's reasons for not participating but at times like this, you need to be united as at the end of the day, you're all Villa fans and noone is a better fan for taking part or not! I wish you good luck. I'll be there on Tuesday and I hope my fellow Evertonians will be supporting all you who do decide to leave, as it makes a statement from fans to the people at the top that the fans are everything, and without them the clubs are nothing. You'll all still be here long after every single one of them are gone. That's what your fighting for! Anyway, I've rambled on enough but I wish you all the best in your campaign, I really hope some good can come your way from it. All the best for the future too, get rid of the rotten core and hope you can grow again. Good luck.
  14. Yes, he did. He's quality. He is 21. He is BOUND to have dips in form and he's had to really step up and be a leader in an inexperienced defence. He is a rarity in modern day football and should be cherished. We shouldn't try and get coach out of him what makes him so special. He'll grow and become one of the best.
  15. Looking forward to seeing them this weekend at Goodison. Hope they go home disappointed with no points
  16. If you can stop Deulofeu/the Kone-Lukaku partnership then you are halfway there because you're basically guaranteed at least goal with the clown we've got between the sticks...
  17. One of the biggest issues with our defence is missing Baines (though Galloway has done very well in the main) but mostly, Tim Howard. He's become that bad now that I'd take pretty much every other keeper in the league over him. The worst thing is he has a massively inflated ego, which means he refuses to take criticism and fails to acknowledge any errors (of which there has been many the last 18 months). The other thing with our defence, with Baines and Coleman both being out for a reasonable amount of time, we've been playing youngsters (remember Stones is still only 21 too) and with that comes mistakes. Inevitable. Been very impressed with Funes Mori, he is very aggressive, but we have needed that. Happy to come out of the defence with the ball too. I like what I see.
  18. haha, no, I just pop back in sometimes for a catch up. Good to see a lot of familiar names still so active. On Martinez...I'm still torn. I've met him on several occasions now and I don't believe I've ever met someone who is more engaging or has such presence about them as he does. It's honestly quite strange. He speaks with incredible knowledge and passion, but I'm still a bit weary over whether it's he knows the right things to say or not. He fascinates me in this respect. One thing I know for sure is he is the most positive person ever. I can barely ever remember a time when he has publically knocked a player, but I do know (for a fact!) that he will say positive things in public but still give heat to a player in the dressing room if it's warranted. I just don't know whether he has it in him to *really* make it. In his first season, we were superb. Honestly. The best I've ever seen an Everton team. Last season, I think a lot of factors affected the team. His tactics really didn't help at times. The potential is there. Definitely. I just don't know if the crowd will ever fully take to him as the consistency just hasn't been there and Evertonians love fast flowing, high tempo football and it's been rare over the last 12 months! We just became a little too 'obvious' and lacked that spark to break down a stubborn defence. Our team, particularly our attackers, have the perfect set up as a counter attacking team. You saw it against Southampton. Teams know now that if they give us the ball, we'll invariably struggle to break them down if they are disciplined enough. We just need to add that extra dimension or two to our game. It's so frustrating as I know it's there and in Martinez to do, I just don't know whether it'll ever happen...
  19. I think this squad is stronger than last seasons. We've lost Distin (who had become a liability) and Alcaraz (who was just awful). We've brought in Cleverley - seen as a long term replacement for Osman. Deulofeu - hugely exciting, but frustrating, young talent. Funes Mori - CB cover, could go either way. Rodriguez - completely unknown. Lennon - you know what you are going to get, offers more direct running. Holgate - promising young defender. Barkley and Lukaku have already started out a hell of a lot better than last season when I think second season syndrome set in for a lot of players. World cup hangover and a European campaign to contend with, as well as a pretty small squad. We had some bad injuries to key players: Stones and McCarthy were out for a big chunk. Pienaar barely played. A lot is made of our ageing squad. If you look at our 'strongest' eleven, it isn't that bad... Howard - 36 Coleman - 26 Stones - 21 Jagielka - 33 Baines - 30 Barry - 34 McCarthy - 24 Mirallas - 27 Barkley - 21 Cleverley - 26 Lukaku - 22 Then when you look at the rest of the usual squad (not going to include Hibbert, Gibson or Pienaar cos they barely ever play now): Funes Mori(24), McGeady(29 but s***!), Oviedo(25), Kone(31), Lennon(29), Naismith(28), Besic(22), Deulofeu(21), Osman(34) and Rodriguez(22). So a good range of ages. What some people don't know is we have some seriously talented young players coming through too. Garbutt has obviously gone out on loan for the season (injured at the moment though). Then we have Galloway who will eventually be a CB, obviously Holgate as well. We have Tyias Browning and Matty Pennington (who won Coventry young player of the season last year) - who've both played for the first team and been regularly involved so far. We also have Ryan Ledson and Kieran Dowell who've been involed with the first team through pre season and on the first team fringe. Then a young lad called Antony Evans who everyone is excited about (though will probably still be a little while before he is involved. If we can keep the young core (Stones/McCarthy/Barkley/Besic/Lukaku) together and add to it then people are excited about what they can achieve together, the only problem is keeping hold of them... I don't think a lot of people outside the club truly understand what people's gripes are with the Everton board. I think if you read up on it you might be a little more sympathetic. If you are genuinely interested, maybe give this a read: http://evertonviral.com/who-is-the-main-player-in-the-everton-show/ Hope I haven't rambled too much
