  1. Moyes' work was always appreciated, well after the blips..., but it was incredibly frustrating just watching the same thing every year and not seeing us get any closer to the top 4. Martinez's first season, we were incredibly unlucky to finish 5th, even if Spurs win their last game they will only finish 1 point more than we did that year! I'll be stunned if Moyes came back. His relationship with Kenwright is no longer what people think. Moshiri will have a big say now too of course but still.
  2. What clubs may be prepared to pay might but not Everton's valuation.
  3. It's been 2 years in the making. Performances over past 2 seasons have not been good enough when we know the levels this team are capable of. On occasions has been unlucky but there comes a point when you say, it's happening too often to just be luck. Then some comments he makes just leave people baffled. This nails it... Why Evertonians feel like they do..
  4. I do not know one fan who wants him to stay now. He lost me after the Swansea and West Brom games at home. I'd been behind him until that point and realised then that nothing will change with him in charge. The players look disinterested and are so unfit. The reason we are so poor defensively is the laziness and attitude of players. They don't track runners, don't close down or press, don't throw tackles in. To me that all comes down to the manager.
  5. He spent his teenage years growing up in Texas
  6. As someone who has seen every single game he's played at Everton, I can tell you right now...he is a ridiculously good talent. He is a superb player who will only get better. I'll be gutted when he leaves as I know how good he can be. He needs the right manager to bring it out of him, it's as simple as that. He is 21 years old!
  7. No thanks. I want us to be ambitious. I don't know who but at least the names being linked this time are a lot more pleasing than when Moyes left.
  8. I like the guy but he has to go, not up to it, players have downed tools...he's lost everyone... Complete and utter disgrace tonight.
  9. I've heard it. I just think it's a tad unrealistic....but we do have money and he may fancy a challenge...I know he's unpopular but I can't help but think he's a winner. He has a winning mentality which we've lacked for so long. Martinez is on serious borrowed time and the big boss (Moshiri) was there today to witness that. It won't have been pleasant.
  10. Right, I've read a lot of your rather neutral opinions on this so I'll give mine from the biased point of view as an Everton fan. I don't even know where to start... On Martinez...all started well, his first season kind of blew us all away and in turn made his own job for the future even more difficult. The football we played was breathtaking at times and I was genuinely excited going to watch us play. We nearly went an entire calendar year unbeaten at home only to lose on the last match for that year (undeservedly so too). Last year, was a bit middle of the road, we were genuinely in a relegation fight until a few of the senior players stood up and almost single handedly dragged us back up the table. This season has just gone even worse. 1 win in the last SIX AND A HALF MONTHS that wasn't against a team in the bottom 3. 4 home wins all season, 8 losses, on track for being one of, if not THE worst home performing seasons in our entire history! The football is slow and predictable, the team are weak, unfit and barely press at all. His substitutions defy belief, I'm still stunned that at 2 up with 10 men against West Ham he took off Lennon and brought on Niasse (who looks woeful on what little we've seen so far). I like the guy and I want him to be a success but his stubborness, and the delusion he shows with his comments drive me insane. It's grown tiresome for a lot of fans now and the worst thing he could have done was make Baines look a fool, Baines who the fans adore and is a local lad, one of us...he only told us what we all knew anyway! At least he was honest! But the fact he calls this draw with Watford a "strong scoreline" and then you get McCarthy coming out basically saying how disappointed they are with a draw, it shows the disconnect. At the end of the day, that squad is capable of so much more. I've seen them dismantle class teams! But a combination of what I mentioned previously just makes us lose so much. It's a chore going to Goodison now. Lukaku. Yes, he's great on his day, but he needs a partner to do his running. He is obsessed with goals but not a lot else. When he plays his last two performances you even wonder how he has scored as many goals as he has this season. If he wants to go, he can. He's only irreplacable if he plays like he can every single week and I don't know if he wants it enough. You can echo that last comment about Barkley too. The amount of players who walk by him with the ball and he isn't even bothered about the thought of throwing a tackle in. He can do wonderful things but I fear he'll never be what he could. I massively doubt anyone would pay what we'd want for him. Stones is a funny one. He might go...he might stay. He has the potential to be incredible but he needs a Vidic type player next to him and Jagielka is getting on now. When he learns to kick it out he'll be superb but I don't see it under a manager who tells him not to! Joel isn't that great, but he's better than Howard. Goalkeeper has to be a priority in the summer. I don't know one Everton fan who wants Martinez to stay at present. I'd give him a chance if I saw he was making efforts to change, ie. Bring in a class defensive coach, but he won't so for me he's got to go. I've rambled on a bit there and I doubt it makes sense, and I've almost certainly missed things out I wanted to say but I just tried to give things from an Everton perspective. The feelings this season has been compounded by how badly everyone else has done and the frustration of seeing Spurs and Leicester and West Ham up there when in our eyes, our squad is strong and deep enough in quality to be up there with them.
  11. Been our best player this season, I'd say. Let's just say, when he isn't playing, you know that he isn't. Wouldn't surprise me if he won our player of the year award. I'm not sure what his plans are for the future but he has another year left on his deal after this one. In regards to the midfields, I couldn't really pick. Both are very different but very good in their own ways... On Deulofeu, he is still only 21, he started like a house on fire but stalled a little bit. He started getting fouled a lot, no protection from referees (though doesn't help himself there) and was just getting really frustrated and it was affecting his game. Lennon could barely get in cos of his form, but since he's got in, he's been sensational, now Deulofeu can't get in! The problem Deulofeu has is that, it's difficult to play him, Barkley and Lukaku all together as despite being great players, they don't always work hard enough and can have a habit of trying to do too much, to the detriment of the team.
  12. The thing I will say on Martinez's behalf...he has got the average age of the squad right down. Lukaku - 22 Barkley - 22 Stones - 21 Deulofeu - 21 Besic - 23 Funes Mori - just turned 25 McCarthy - 25 Joel - 25 Galloway - 19 That's a good chunk of the core of our squad at 25 or under, with a fair few others I've not mentioned. We have Shani Tarashaj who is coming in next season still only 21.
  13. I think people are just fed up with the same things happening over and over again. Some things he says are as if the fans are stupid (which some are, but not all of us!). As a neutral, I can see we'd be exciting to watch. Some of the football we play is exceptional at times but when you are 2/3 up against teams you know you should be beating, but constantly are still worried, it says a lot. You had chances at 3-1 against us, if you'd have made it 3-2, it would have been 3-3. So weak and fragile mentally, they just can't see a game out. I'd say 2/3rds ish want him gone now but, I'm obviously only estimating that on the proportion of fans I know/follow on social media etc. I've been behind him so far but rapidly losing patience, I want to see a difference, and fast.
  14. Don't we know it. Best squad in 25 years, without question, but no idea how to use it. Not just those games either. Stoke, Chelsea...City in the cup...that's not to mention Swansea and West Brom home games lately. We've won 4 home league games this season. 4. Against yourselves, Sunderland, Newcastle and Chelsea, when everyone was beating them! Lost 7, including 5 of the last 7. Conceded the most goals at home in the league, and out of the top 5 'top' divisions across Europe. Not good enough.
  15. Took off our best player (Lennon) and brought a striker on who has barely played. At 2-0 up, with 10 men, and our fragile nature....joke of a decision. Time is ticking Roberto, the natives are extremely restless and many have been lost already. Saturday is huge.
  16. I don't know as I'm not on the inside of those discussions. I'm merely speculating that we are more attractive for the banks to loan money too if it was so needed than if he wasn't there... Can read more here if you really want to..
  17. Every club has them. There was a few racist remarks made by 2 young lads nearby and who went on to celebrate wildly and chant the names of Lennon and Lukaku when they scored... They were soon confronted like.
  18. There is an already an agreement in place for him to increase his stake. Obviously, there are no guarantees...but industry insiders say it is an extremely wise appointment. 1) banks will loan money for a stadium with someone of his wealth behind us which they wouldn't before and 2) he knows a lot of wealthy people, and commercial partnerships. I'm not saying it's going to be perfect, but it's very promising.
  19. I did mean in all my time going to games, even when you were pretty decent! And you beat us last season!
  20. Have to say, I don't think your team lacked fight. I just don't think they were good enough to compete with us at first. When we switched formation, you came a lot more into it. When you got one back, if you'd have got another, which could have happened, we'd have been creaking. Good luck for the rest of the season and I sincerely hope the wait isn't too long to visit Villa Park again, it's always been my favourite away...
  21. Just on my way back from the match now. I have to say, it was noticeable, people streaming out when the clock hit 74. Particular in the North stand to our right and the upper Holte End. Pleased that our fans supported you too, lots of clapping for your chants and quite a few even joined in. I heard a lot of empathy around me too, we know it quite easily could have been us in your position. There's a lot of respect between the two clubs, and as I said, because we are so similar. I can't wait til you are back up fighting with us again. Respect to all of you who took part, I only hope the movement grows. You deserve so much better.
  22. Cos as I said, from what I've heard, he's not really in it for the money. He has his other businesses going on for that...
  23. Basically from what I can gather. He's an astute businessman. He doesn't seem to be in it to make a quick buck, he wants to own a winning team. He grew frustrated at Arsenal with the fact he couldn't influence things at board level as Kroenke was majority stakeholder. Here the idea seems to be: invest in team, invest in rebuild/new stadium, build up commercial side of the club, alongside a gradual stake increase to around 75%. The value of the club should dramatically increase with the stadium being sorted, etc., and with the increased money in the game too. There's even rumours it could mean Usmanov coming from Arsenal in the future too. Though I don't know how to feel about that!
