  1. 12 points from 10 games, not good, not good at all. A terrible first half display, second a little bit better towards the end. Clark without a doubt MoTM. Sadly a draw today is a fair result. We didn't do enough to warrant a win.
  2. absolutely **** brilliant! Heskey is indeed REBORN!
  3. Only saw the second half, but apart from the pass to Young, didn't really think he did anything worthwhile.
  4. Let me put it this way. You go for a job. The other guy gets it. They then ask you to do the job while he goes off for a bit. When he gets back he takes over! Well it's a bit different considering he'll still be working for the club after that, not just in the same capacity as before. I don't think he'll mind tbh and if he did, surely he'd come out and tell Randy this and then leave.
  5. I've never quite understood how some fans thought Randy and the club PROMISED us fans regular top4 finishes and CL football in 4-5 years. Surely this was the AIM and tbh it was a decent effort by MON and everyone else involved but it didn't work out. As it now stands we have to go about it in a different way. I have a hard time understanding how this can be so difficult to comprehend given the situation at present, with Citeh having endless amounts of money to splash and the likes of Arsenal, Manure, Chelsea et.al. having such an advantage given their squads and fanbase. These are the biggest clubs in the world we are competing against. Do people seriously think that it is so easy to overtake them? Even with ridiculous amounts of money to spend it'll be very difficult, which we'll see this year when Citeh will again fail (I hope). And to talk about the plan now being survival for the near future, well that's just daft. I am quite convinced we'll be competing in the upper echelons of the league under Houllier, just like we where under MON.
  6. Have to agree. This is getting very ridiculous. Hope he's worth the wait! What is so ridiculous about it? I think he explained the matter quite clearly. Was a bit skeptical when I first heard Houllier was to be confirmed as our new manager. After hearing his thoughts now, my initial worries have turned to genuine excitement. He seems very honest and realistic about the situation. I believe we can look forward to steady progress and a bright future. UTV!
  7. Whoever it is, the sooner the better. I still believe (hope) that Randy will make the correct decision. Just pray it will not be Phil Brown.
  8. It sure is nice to hear I couldn't possibly understand, given I didn't attend the game (which you know how, btw?) Anyways thank you mate for clearing this up. Now I finally understand the difference between the Premier League and the Championship. Me having watched the Villa and English football in general for about 20 years doesn't make a difference. I'll agree though, he probably made a slight tactical error in that game. But more importantly the teams arrogance and over-confidence was the main contributing factor to our downfall that time. Which consequently was rectified in the grandest possible way against Everton, wouldn't you agree?
  9. Might wanna re-do your maths there mate Sorry, I now see I have expressed this very poorly. The first sentence has nothing to do with the latter. My point regarding the loss to Newcastle was that even though it was painful and humiliating, it still was only one football match that we lost. Some on here seem to think way too much of it really, like it's a sign of the annihilation of our club or whatever.
  10. People judging KMac as 'not good enough' based on these first 5 games is in all honesty quite ridiculous. He should be given more time, as should any manager coming in. Let's say we do get in Moyes, Jol or Hiddink. Do you guys think they should be given the boot after 5 games in charge, if the outcome of those games where 2 wins, a draw and 2 losses? As painful a loss as the Newcastle match was, it was still only ONE game lost. Besides people thinking Newcastle away is going to be an easy game for anyone are seriously deluded.
  11. Great read Gazton. Regarding the Milner deal, I think it's quite clear that Randy thought it was good business to start with and that he had every intention to go through with it in the end, regardless of supposed pre-agreed 'contracts' that could or could not have been nullified and the fact that we no longer had a permanent manager in charge. I am probably in the severe minority here, but I still believe (and forever will) that it was a piss poor deal from our point of view, even though I rate Ireland and can see him being a major player for us in time. Having said that, I think it's probably the only real 'bad' decision he's done, since he bought the club. In hindsight, maybe he also could have better 'monitored' MONs spending, but then again that would have probably backfired big time, long ago and god knows where we would be today.
  12. I too would like us to strengthen and what we really need is a new striker, but good strikers like Suarez, Toivonen or perhaps Huntelaar will not come us because they have the chance to sign for much bigger clubs, playing in the UCL. If we had a manager we would probably sign some player(s), maybe even a striker. Still, it would most likely be someone like Keane, Cole, Zamora, Gyan etc., which tbh isn't really that much of an improvement on what we now have.
  13. Just clutching at straws here, but maybe the reason for Everton's rather slow start to the season (again!), is due to Moyes being out of focus, because he is seriously thinking of abandoning ship.
  14. I couldn't care less if tonights performance was MONish, K-Macesque, DOLish or whatever. We've beaten a strong Everton team with a superb defensive effort. Collins MOTM.
  15. Keane is going to be surplus to requirements very soon, rumor has it Fabiano is having his medical at the moment. I don't really rate him, but surely he is better than Heskey and could probably link up well with Ireland and do a decent job for us. Think he'll end up at Newcastle though. Btw, didn't Huntelaar already go to barca in the Ibra deal?
  16. Why does everyone seem to think that this is the case? I'll agree this is an easy logical deduction to make, but the general has already dismissed it several times, stating that the club will do all they can to get the right man for the job, however long this may take. The transfer window is not a factor in this. We were probably never going to buy any players this window, unless we get rid of some of the deadwood, which hasn't happened.
  17. I'll agree he has shown glimpses of real football vision and with better forwards we could really start to see the results in the future. However, I am more than disappointed with his defensive side of the game. He might still be a little bit rusty and perhaps not 100% match fit, given his lack of first team action but he needs to defend better, especially if he is to play that deep. He was all to often soft in challenges, mostly late in tackles and seemed just completely lost on how to defend properly. TBH our tactics last night didn't favor him and I don't think he should ever be played in that role.
  18. This is kinda of a relief. Whoever the new manager may turn out to be. I actually like K-Mac and do not blame him for these recent freak losses. Having said that it's still quite obvious we NEED an experienced manager with a proven track record.
  19. We will soon see what our reaction will be like. I for one still BELIEVE we can win this game. A quick goal and we get the momentum going again. We certainly have the firepower to score 4-5 goals any time. Time to step up guys! UTV!
  20. Whatever you say about Clark, it was Dunne's complete **** up that cost us for that goal. Yeah maybe but he should have won that header.
  21. Can't really understand how we can be 3-0 down. Some ridiculous defensive errors have cost us. I think Clark's inexperience was clearly shown in their third goal. Still we've played some good stuff and should at least have 1-2 goals to show for it. Gonna be difficult now, but it's not over. We need to up the tempo and put them even more under pressure. Ireland needs to come off, he clearly isn't match fit yet. Some nice passing though from him, but sadly he is no Milner and he would have been key today. Bring on NRC.
  22. Wasn't overly impressed with the Newcastle defence last week at old trafford. Especially Williamson seemed very shaky. Still I guess they won't fear or respect us as much as Manure. Think we should play it safe with a 5-man midfield and attack them on the counter with our pace. NRC to take Milners place, otherwise same lineup as against West Ham. Ireland could be introduced late on for the final decisive crush, if/when needed.
  23. Diarra is more or less a copy of NRC. Great stamina, decent all round effort but no real end product.
  24. Milner seems to be included in Kev Macs squad for tomorrow. What do people think about this? I for one hope that he starts. I sort of still want to believe we have a chance of keeping him and I also think if called upon he'll play his guts out like he always has.
