  1. I don't think there is. We were a grand mess alright, but there are other reasons for that, and we have an entirely new squad now. Name one WBA starting player (besides Foster), you'd swap for our equivalent!?
  2. If we can all agree that we have a top 8 championship side, irrespective of our current league position of course, then why would there be a need to build three squads as Wyness seem to suggest?
  3. I do wonder, are we really that far off a team like WBA for instance? Honestly there's not many of their first eleven players I'd be willing to swap with any of ours. GK is probably the only one, and that's a no-brainer. The big difference is they are settled, united and play as real football team. That should be the aim. There's far too much emphasis nowadays on individual talent and flair, IMHO.
  4. It's impossible to deny it didn't seem to work out with Hogan and Kodjia playing together. Then again, not in million years would I blame Hogan for the defeats. That's on Bruce for trying breed them all in at once. The only logical conclusion I can come to is Kodjia being the problem, as he didn't work all that well with RMC either. I remember advocating we'd play better with Kodjia away at ACON. Well that didn't work either. Perhaps it could've worked with Hogan instead of RMC. As it stands, we simply have to play Kodjia, as he's a proven threat that'll score goals. I'd just forget about Hogan until next season.
  5. Well, perhaps not, but surely a complete overhaul isn't needed every time. That to me suggest very shortsighted planning, realistic or otherwise.
  6. Well, of course there's no way of knowing exactly how highly someone rates him, if it doesn't explicitly come across as such. Naturally it's just my own interpretation from what I've read on here, ever since he was appointed, that people really do seem to rate him 'highly'. Perhaps this doesn't apply to you specifically, as you've also been openly critical, at least lately. I suppose my point being that he's rated all too highly IMO, mostly based upon previous achievements, and that some seem to neglect the here and now. Honestly I have no idea, as I've only ever followed the Premier League. I'm actually surprised at the level of play in ELC, as it's quite horrible in comparison. I suppose I just wanted a 'continental type' of manager, one with a clearcut, modern footballing philosophy. I fully understand why we went for Bruce, but I'll never agree that it was the correct decision. In fact it was a terrible decision, seeing as we still had every chance of reaching the playoffs, given the squad we had, even considering all of the imbalance issues, etc. I know others disagree on this part, but it hasn't changed my point of view. Hindsight is a wonderful thing... I would. It sounds like poor planning to me, if it actually entails building an entirely new squad every time. FWIW I don't believe all managers need to chop and change as much as Bruce has done. I still firmly believe a lot of decent managers would have been able to build a team with what Bruce inherited. Anyways, I do hope we get a new manager in the summer.
  7. Totally agree. This only highlights Bruce's (lack of) ability as a tactician, and further raises questions as to what exact role/position Hogan was bought for.
  8. I do in fact have severe doubts about Bruce's ability, even when taking into account all of his previous achievements, and to tell the truth I really do have a hard time understanding how so many intelligent and passionate fans on here regard him so highly. It's utterly baffling, and I really have no idea whom you all are comparing him with!? He's a decent manager alright, and he might be good for where we are at the moment, no question, but to me he's light-years away of the type of manager I'd like to see managing our beloved club!
  9. Like most on here, I'm really pleased we've managed a few wins for a change. Really pleased for Bruce as well, he does deserve credit for these wins, and also for the slight uplift in performances. Having said that, it's still early days, and my general stance hasn't changed one bit. He's still on borrowed time. Every win earns him a bit more time, but more importantly, the performances have to become better. Huddersfield will be a fine indicator of where we now stand. The likelihood of relegation is now minimal, nor do we have any realistic chance of promotion anymore, so I suppose there's little harm in giving Bruce the remainder of the season. For me all he has to do is get us challenging, being positive, playing proper football, and he'll have earned the right to have a further go next year. FWIV I do not expect him to turn it around. I think we'll now coast through the remainder of the season, with the usual ups and downs, and with very little change to the way we play, and approach games. Sadly I also fear he still has the backing of the board and the owner, regardless.
  10. Very true. Then again, we've had neither of these capabilities for ages. You certainly need the balance to be successful long term, unless you are Real Madrid. Arsenal, and Liverpool are good examples of what can happen when the balance is somewhat lacking. Still I'd rather see us attacking like them, losing once in while, as opposed to the garbage Bruce thus far has served up as a whole.
  11. Each to his own I suppose, but comments like this makes me cringe.
  12. What else is new? Why he's opted for a team sport is beyond me.
  13. Do you seriously believe the highlighted portion? If so, can I please have some of what you've been smoking!?
  14. So there's literally not a chance in hell he'll be sacked even if we lose today. Bummer. I don't expect things to turn around, and another relegation seems inevitable. Hope somebody is able to enjoy this abysmal 'football' Bruce is making us endure. Sadly I can't anymore. Really looking forward to another post match "batten the hacketts" rallying cry
  15. This was one of the better performances under Bruce. Says it all really. Please piss off.
  16. FFS we're just lumping it again, time after time. Someone please tell me why we bought a new midfield!?
  17. Promotion? Are you serious? We just lost to Barnsley at home. We barely manage to score a goal, let alone win a game. He needs to go. Resistance is futile.
  18. You can already see the dejected look on his face, he's as good as gone, and he knows it. It might take a few more weeks though. We need to find a replacement first.
  19. How on earth has he ever managed to promote a team in this division is beyond me. Sadly, the past is the past. Bruce simply is a rubbish manager.
  20. Just hire the right man. No more former player, wannabe managers. No more old school dinosaurs. Please go and find a progressive, modern manager that's had the proper education needed. Not that hard, a lot of clubs succeed. Simples.
