  1. The fact that people were calling for Mings to be dropped for Hause earlier on this season will never fail to amaze me. He wasn’t particularly good at championship level and is completely out of his depth in the premier league.
  2. This is it for me. If a shirt pull is a penalty then I’m fine with that. There’ll be penalties at a large percentage of corners until players get used to this but that’s fine. What isn’t fine is just randomly giving a shirt pull (9 times out of 10 this is for one of the big clubs) while ignoring other shirt pulls. It’s just completely inconsistent and VAR is only exacerbating the issue.
  3. He did go to United and then got found out as not actually being that good. That’s the reason why nobody else has come in for him. Completely agree that he’s a complete tool though. A player who genuinely seems to hate playing football.
  4. Bringing on a £100m striker is hardly tactical genius though is it? The difference was that they had Lukaku on the bench and out options to change it up are El Ghazi, a half fit Traore and an 18 year old kid.
  5. I know a handful of people in this position. I imagine it’s not that uncommon. The number of cases in the country right now is high so people are going to get it multiple times.
  6. They’re both stonewall red cards to be fair. They’re the sort of fouls that you really shouldn’t need VAR for. How on earth a ref watches those challenges and doesn’t immediately go for his red card I have no idea.
  7. This must have been the thinking behind it. I can’t help but think that whatever decision comes out tonight on the main protest by Mercedes will be a bit irrelevant and that this one is going to run a lot longer yet.
  8. Hamilton was 13 seconds ahead when the crash happened. If the race finished under a safety car then the rules would have been followed and the guy who was quicker for 99.5% of the race would have won. Instead he’s chosen to make his own rules up to allow the guy who was far slower over the course of the race to get the win. There was absolutely no reason to do what he did.
  9. Yeah this is what I was trying to say earlier. It’s hardly much more of a spectacle to get them “racing” for a lap where Verstappen was always going to pass him and win with ease. It’s just the weirdest bit of officiating I’ve seen in any sport for a long time.
  10. It depends who the casual fan is though. If a fan of any other sport had tuned in to that as their first f1 race they’d have recognised the farcical ending and I’m not sure you’re attracting many of them for next season. Manufacturing drama by completely changing rules isn’t a great look for a sport and neither is finishing a season with discussions between officials and lawyers.
  11. Do things like this increase interest though? There’s a reason that sports have rules and any sport that just decides it’s going to make rules up as it goes along isn’t that attractive to me as a sports fan in general. If we were 3-0 up against United in the FA Cup in January and then they just decided the next goal was worth 4 I’d lose my interest in football.
  12. Yeah there isn’t really a satisfactory way to end the season now. Ridiculous that the decision was made to get to this point.
  13. That last lap was hardly a spectacle though was it? Guy on a new set of soft tyres overtakes guy on a set of 45 lap old hard tyres. I’m not sure that’s the spectacle people wanted to see.
  14. Not all of the back markers though. We’ll just let the ones overtake so that Verstappen can win. Where that decision came from I have no idea as nobody saw it coming.
  15. What a way to ruin a great season. How can anybody watch that and think that ending is right?
  16. I think we dealt with it pretty well for most of the game. The trouble is with both Salah and Mane desperate to go down the second they step into the box there’s always going to be one with enough contact that the ref can give it.
  17. Who would have thought we’d be miles off the team that won the league two seasons ago, are regular champions league contenders and have just won all 6 group games in that competition? What a strange thing to find scary that they’re a better team than us.
  18. I have to admit I though it was odd we weren’t screaming for it.
  19. I think it’s a pen but the constant desire of their attacking players to go down as soon as they’re in the box is pretty ridiculous.
  20. He got isolated 1 on 1 with the best and most in form player in the league. Should never have been put in that position.
  21. These inconsistent yellow cards are going to hurt us at this rate.
  22. What is the VAR watching there to not overturn that? That’s up there with the worst decisions I’ve seen.
  23. That should be a penalty for me. Didn’t we have one almost identical to that not given against wolves last season? A guy leaning into a ball with his arm by his side is still deliberately playing the ball with his arm. It’s not like the ball was smashed into his arm from a few yards away.
  24. He stood in front of the ball for quite a while and then actively blocked the ball once the City player tried to pass it. I’m not sure he can have too many complaints to be honest. First one was maybe slightly harsh but it’s a deliberate foul that he’s tried to do 3 times. Anyone applauding a player off the pitch for that red card is mental.
