  1. Yeh, cos McLeish failed to fire them up for the second half against QPR as well, didn't he?
  2. Swearing at your manager is totally acceptable. (if true) They've just said on Talksport he told PARDEW to "**** off". Some bad blood from his troubled loan spell with Newcastle last season apparently. If true, interesting decision by AM!!
  3. Think Pardew has told them just to attack at all costs & rely on Villa errors in defence. Nervous start!
  4. And well done to Zog for finally realising you just have to pass it to one of our two free scoring forwards and not try to do it all yourself. It only took him 45 minutes to get that. Oh, and if McLeish doesn't take Warnock off at half time he's a fool.
  5. N'Zogbia can be a bit clueless at times. Use your colleagues better!
  6. At Villa, of course, MON's best season was his last one (highest league points, cup final, cup semifinal), This was the point at which the team was very clearly "his". Doesn't that rather bugger up your argumnent?
  7. This suggests pretty clearly that McLeish doesn't have dropping Warnock in mind
  8. Now, you did that one on purpose, didn't you? :winkold:
  9. Well, we spent around the 6th highest amount in the premier league and we got to 6th place three times so I question the judgment that this money was "wasted". When you think of some of the stars we got into the squad, it was a pretty good time to be a Villa fan. Lerner couldn't sustain it, though, could he? So we have just been through a spell of "boom and bust". I would far rather Lerner had managed the money more realistically but you can hardly blame MON for spending what he was given to try to achieve the objective of challenging the top 4. He's at a club now where it looks like the chairman has a better grasp on financial reality and, for those who say MON only takes jobs where he is in complete control of the money side, note carefully that this has NOT happened at Sunderland.
  10. Chrissake, it's not the first time ever a player has moved to a club and it didn 't work out - who at the moment is paying for Makoun to warm the bench at Olympiakos, for example? I sometimes think a lot of the posters on here must only have stumbled upon top flight English football in the past couple of months and haven't quite worked out how it all works yet.
  11. Hmm. Just trying to imagine what a really great thread about McLeish would be like...
  12. Barry for me. Was a good captain for Villa.
  13. If getting a club that had been going nowhere with a deeply mediocre squad to 6th for 3 seasons running plus a Wembley final is making a "Complete arse" of things I'd love to know how you'd describe the performance of managers who have regularly achieved much less over the period.
  14. And it's always the same people gratuitously having a pop at him. What's your point?
  15. You say that as if it's a criticism but it's actually quite a marketable skill! Almost all premier league chairmen and fans would kill to get such a manager and I guess we would as well just at this moment. I don't understand why so many posters on this site work so hard to denigrate the only decent manager we've had for 10 years.
  16. To be brutally honest, I can't see anything wrong with what Lawro has written there.
  17. And failing dismally. (Probably worth mentioniing thatlast bit.)
  18. I watched the Sunderland/Norwich game and suddenly they look anything but painfully average. Whew! Can we have some of that at Villa Park please?
  19. two sides to every story! He turned out to be a poor signing but he came with what looked like a decent pedigree. That sort of thing does happen in the real world, so it's probably worth just getting over it. I have never heard any real explanation of how it all went wrong.
  20. We've had this stuff over and over again. I know the spin the board has put out about MON off by heart so I don't need to hear it again. I'm just saying, look at what he has done for Sunderland in nine matches. BTW, you need to look upwards to see this because they are now well above us in the table.
  21. It's clear enough that Warnock's confidence is shot through and booing him is a pretty dumb way of reacting to that. As soon as we have a fit/competent replacement he needs to be dropped and given some time to rebuild his game (in my view, preferably at another club). McLeish did try to replace him with Clark in the Wolves game but he turned out to be even worse. We just don't have anyone at the moment who can do the job. We have to hope Lichaj or Stevens can get up to speed pretty soon. Until then, Warnock is actually playing on our team, however badly and booing him is pretty crazy.
  22. Everything that needs to be said about MON can probably be gleaned by perusing Sunderland's record since 11 December 2010. Played 9 league games, won 6, drawn 1, lost 2. .Prior to that their record was played 14, won 2, drawn 5, lost 7 How badly we are missing that sort of magic at Villa right now!
