  1. I hope he is a clean player..... Nobody likes a dirty Sanchez
  2. Saw this online.. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_S%C3%A1nchez_Moreno#Aston_Villa
  3. Good to see them enjoying some father and son bonding time!
  4. Is this available to watch online ? I subscribe to AVTV but don't see it on there?
  5. Minimum - we need to get Vlaar and Delph signed up to new contracts... If we don't then we are going to have to hope that there are 3 teams worse than us..... Again.....
  6. I agree if vlaar goes to qpr i will sack it off this season droopy dog will try and sell qpr to vlaar lets face it they are a small club always will be but one thing is they will offer silly money. It is a real sign of what a state we are in! Clubs like QPR can have more of a pull on players than us. Even the likes of Hull, Stoke, the Baggies and others appear to be a more attractive proposition than us... Just embarrassing....
  7. My brother lives in Dallas, he has just been invited to a meet and greet before a training session with the team. Are they taking a full squad over?
  8. Perhaps next year we could put in a midget on a unicycle? That's sure to get a few votes....
  9. What is interesting here is that the opinion of fans seems to be so mixed.... We were unanimously in favour of getting rid of McLeish but there is some heated discussions for both sides of the argument for Lambert.... We all want what's best for the club going forward; if he really was that poor then you would think that we would be unanimous again? Nobody here is happy with the annual struggle for survival but I don't know where the guarantees are that "New Manager = More Successful". I wonder if we would be many places higher if we had changed managers at Christmas?? Changing managers can work (Palace/Sunderland) for example but Di Canio was a masterstroke last year as he kept Sunderland up... He didn't last too long after that... It will be interesting how long into next season Pullis and Poyet last?? You are sitting there with 16, do you twist in the hope that you get a 5? Or do you stick because of the fear of getting a 6? Tough one...
  10. There are so many variables in any answer to that so there never could be a definitive accepted answer for those who want Lambert to stay. Exactly there are probably thousands of people out there that could do a better job than Lambert far to many to list anyway. Name one manager, that Villa could attract, who would do a better job? Just one name would suffice, I don't need thousands.
  11. Those people who are desperate to get rid of Lambert; who do you think will come in (that would want to come) and do a better job under the same conditions??
  12. I would still like to see how he does next season if the financial constraints are lifted (if indeed this take over does go ahead). If his criteria for success over the past 2 years was "get the wage bill down whilst keeping us in the league" then he has been successful. Not successful in our eyes, but we are not the ones who are setting these criteria. If your bosses asked you to do something then you would do it... Or find another job.. It wouldn't matter whether you upset people by doing what you were asked... If it did, you would quit.... We all disappointed on where the club is, but will bringing in a new manager bring an instant turn around in fortunes? Picture the scene, we get a new manager in (and it won't be a big name manager) and the results are poor (no Benteke until Christmas) and we end of getting relegated just after Christmas.... Who on here will say "we were right to get rid of Lambert" as we begin planning trips to Milwall? The grass isn't always greener. If we give Lambert until Christmas to see what he can do, then make a change if need be... It's been a shit season and us fans are hurting BUT we live to fight another day and like a Phoenix we will rise from the ashes and become great again... Let's all breathe a huge sigh of relief and look forward to a well-deserved break over the summer (my winter) and let's forget about this season.... But be very careful what you wish for because we could have had a much worse season.. I am sure the Cardiff and Fulham fans would trade places in a heartbeat.
  13. I am probably very much in the minority but I would prefer to give him another season, especially if the financial restrictions might be lifted. Has he made mistakes over the past 2 years? Hell yes, but don't we all from time to time? As long as he learns from them and makes changes then it will benefit us going forwards. If we get rid of him, then who will want to come to us?? Who would we realistically get? Some manager that failed in at least one other club in all probability! Do you really think that a new manager would do much better with the current bunch of fit players? What this club needs is stability, the more successful clubs have kept the same manager for more than 2 seasons. Look at Arsenal, Everton (with Moyes), Man U (with Ferguson). I know that Chelski and $ity have changed their managers much more but they are huge spending exceptions who just buy success. I still believe that Lambert is a good, young manager and that there are exciting times ahead for The Villa...
  14. Bookies are paying $511 for a $100 bet on the multi "Hull + 0.5 and Fulham win" that's really the only nightmare scenario for us I think?
  15. Tempted to put $100 on the multi "Hull +0.5 / Fulham win" paying $511, may as well make some money out of our misfortune....
  16. We have not lost to Hull since 1987... Only 1 of the 9 games between us has ended in a draw... There's a record that Lambert can aim to change...
  17. I am trying to think of a bet that I could make as a consolation if things don't go our way at the weekend... I thought about a Fulham win/ Cardiff win/ norwich drawn or win multi but I guess if only one of those three things comes in then both me and Villa lose out..answers on a postcard....
  18. But transfer fees are only part of the issue... Better players will go to teams like Everton because they pay bigger wages... We might be close to Everton on transfer fees but what about wages? I can't imagine Barry went for 10k a week?
  19. Just saw on thesackrace.com that David Moyes is 40/1 to get sacked.... I might put some money on that... Dead cert I reckon...
  20. I have an idea.... Why don't we quit the thread until next weekend??
  21. Chelsea beating Norwich and Cardiff would be great for us... Man City battering our goal difference would have no effect at all unless Fulham get 4 points but we would have to have a 25 goal swing... We are bad... But not 25-0 bad....
  22. I don't think that Sunderland are definitely out of it yet either... They will probably lose away to Man U next weekend then have two home games that they can easily draw.... They play 3 games in 8 days which will be tough on their limited squad...
  23. If Fulham win both their games that takes them to 37 points meaning we will need more than 1 point from our last 3 games. That's a pretty big IF
