I read those articles and hope he meant what he said. If i've learned anything this year, it's don't believe what players say to the press. Or at least take it all with a grain of salt. What exactly could Downing say there when asked these questions? "We think GH has no frigging clue, but just hope he doesn't get us relegated?" I told his father towards the end of the match, "Your son is having an amazing season, I hope he stays...etc" He told me "we´ll see." That gave me a really negative vibe about whether he'd stay or not. I also have 2 other sources, that I won't mention on here, who are more pessimistic than that re Downing staying.

Maybe it won't. And I agree, Downing is POTY. But most of the squad thinks GH knows sweet fa (I love incorporating newly learned English slang hehe) about strategy, coaching etc. Right or wrong, the squad blames GH for the current situation and hope he'll be gone---not just the benchwarmers either. Most of the squad.

It's a shame. I was at the Everton match thinking "wow, he is so freaking good." Maybe the bosses will see that if they don't bring in a new big name manager, MULTIPLE top players at the club will be gone. I'm not a huge GH hater, but it seems like even the players who are getting playing time dislike him and think he's clueless.

Downing is probably gone this summer. I have heard from 3 people who know more than any of us at VT that he probably won't be here next season.

He is a lucky git aint he!!! It was just a kinda right place, right time thing w meeting Carlos this summer. Small world kinda thing I guess...I lived in Madrid for 6 years, Spanish connection, etc. The rest of my friends are "normal" hehe.

I had a pretty awesome bday celebration yesterday. A Spanish friend hooked me up w free tickets to the match, gracias. I was sat in the Villa section in the row where family/friends of players were. Was sat next to Downing's dad (wouldn't answer my cheeky question about if he was off this summer or not...a bit shady). Where the hell is Downing from? I was struggling to follow. Highlight of the match was the sun I'd say. Got back to my friend's car, it didn't start. I was thinking, damn...gonna get back to Birmingham late for my own bday party, fail! I pushed the car 20 yards and miraculously he got it started. Jumped in, got home for 7:15. Had an awesome Chinese meal w karaoke then went to Bluu. Carlos said we should all goto Mechu, we didn't feel like it because most of us were drunk already, didn't wanna spend any more $, etc....but he insisted. Bouncers there are usually pricks but he had a word and the 15 of us were in. I'm not a fan of Mechu, but the VIP area is cool. The only neg was that the girls were shockingly not hot (im married, but still u wanna see hot girls). I was talking to Gabby for a minute before I even realized it was him hehe. Really nice guy, definitely not dumb like he sounds in interviews. Gabby is friggin ripped. Bulging muscles that almost make him look fat (no homo). He's not a teetotaler but almost never drinks apparently. Met Albrighton who was really cool, very very humble and down to earth. Shane Lowry, who I hadn't even known was on loan at Sheffield, another really cool guy. Big dude. Barry Bannan was completely wasted and acting like a jackass. He was slapping one of his mates, which was funny cause Bannan is about 5'4'. He's the only one who seemed like a rocket polisher. I've been reading this thread and now want to plan a visit. Quick question: will I get beat up again? I haven't ventured to that area since the cup match...don't venture far past the bullring in that direction.

I think Carlos was at fault for the goal and should have done better with his chance from inside the box towards the end. Was probably his worst match at VP. Gutted.

Love Eastbound and Down too, only watched first 4 episodes but it's brilliant. I'll give How to make it in America a go too, loved Entourage. Just started watching The Sopranos for the first time and I really like it! Can't believe it's took me this long to watch it. How to Make it in America is on tonight on Sky Atlantic. Kenny Powers is the Fcking man!!!!!! I find myself quoting him all the time. Try Treme, you won't be disappointed. I'm gonna hang on with Boardwalk Empire, hopefully it will pick up. Treme is great. I went to university in New Orleans, the one Goodman's character is a professor at (Tulane), but haven't been back post-Katrina. Yesterday was Mardi Gras day...I really miss it. Great series so far. Eastbound and Down: I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE it! But it's all about if you like that sense of humour, very hit or miss for people. I just love it. So many amazing 1 liners. Downing should take every set piece and corner. For the love of God, no more Young on corners or free kicks. Ball was out of play before the penno-non issue really.
