  1. Fringe is excellent and a thread about it is here Nice one fella. It's a pretty nice feeling to find a series now that looks good as I can get them all and watch at will as it is in series 2 now.
  2. shouldn't be. It should be about what is best for the country. This is where party politics is plain wrong Quite correct Jon Agreed, but is there another way ? While they worry about who wins / loses it's usually the population as a whole that loses. For all we know outgoing Governments possibly plant things on purpose to go wrong years ahead to nail the new government at the expense of the people to aid them getting back into power. I would think all our parties are capable of doing this as it's all about getting the power, rather than using it well.
  3. I can get addicted to virtually anything, it's not good, not good at all. Especially living in Amsterdam  Very true, I took that into account when I moved here 10 years ago, I live on the coast (Zandvoort) about 100 mts from the Grand Prix track.
  4. I can get addicted to virtually anything, it's not good, not good at all. ...saying that though, supporting the Villa is like a soap opera in a way without the nice endings and suspense
  5. I watched the very first episode of Fringe last night, well impressed with that and I need a Lost replacement, like sharpish. (May be on the wrong thread but if there is a thread where is it ?) thx
  6. so just to verify you would rather the country was made worse so labour could come back in? if people had faith in labour they would have won this election. i think its silly for anyone to want another party to fail so another oen comes in. for me i wnat WHOEVER is in power to sort this mess out Apologies, I was not on a wind up.... I was just thinking about a strategy Labour could use. If people had faith in the Tories they would not be having desperate meetings with the LibDems, it can be spun either way and that's the problem the election result. The problem the Tories have is that there is a big slice of the population that cannot for any reason ever vote for them. Once the Tories work out why they are half way there. From an opposition point of view I would think they all want the others to fail, it's about winning and losing after all.
  7. Pretty much agree, it's not really a good time to govern at the moment. If I was Labour I would sit and wait and come back stronger with a good leader as you say. There is opportunity here to make the Tories life hell if the votes are close in the commons. "Call me Dave" promised change but the best he can hope for is to limp along wounded for a couple of years delivering virtually nothing.
  8. Due to our shitty system it's hard to call; you'll have to look at the individual seats the BNP contested and see what happened. As another example of the bollocks system, on those figures the Lib Dem vote increased by 1.3%, whilst the number of seats went down by 9%. I am so **** angry. Thanks for the Explanation(and trees).....The more people tell me how it actually works the more unfair it all looks especially with the Lib Dem losing seats, I may not agree with them on everything but can anyone really say they deserved this? I actually feel sorry fro Clegg, his performances in the debates were outstanding and he put so much into them one would have thought he would have got at least a few seats +
  9. From the above would it be fair to say th BNP and UKIP did the Tories over ? That 2.2 % combined would have been enough for Dave to get a majority or am I reading it wrong ?
  10. yeah good luck with that It's not a labour policy (and nor was it until around 01:30 this morning once it became apparent they were being spanked ) and it's only the libs that proposed it and based on their bad showing last night I somehow don't see them carrying as much weight as they believed they would Spanked, I don't see that really. "Call me Dave" stated the UK wanted change and he would deliver a knock out blow to Labour, if that's the Tory definition of a knock out blow then god help all of us, it's more of a limp wristed stroke of the face which kind of sums the party up as a whole I think. Labour has lost 85 seats, 6.5% of the vote and trail the popular vote by over two million. It’s a little more than a tickling. After 13 years in power, the most severe recession in decades and a leader widely criticised as being deeply unpopular - a seeming perfect storm - and still the Tories couldn't win enough seats to form a majority. Tory government - 1997 - Landslide Labour government - 2010 - Hung parliament In theory with the world wide recession they should have got a landslide but as I said earlier the population seem a little bit more clued up about elections these days, sticking a few posters up just won't cut it these days. Tactical voting may have played a part but I suspect we will never know.
  11. # BREAKING NEWS We have a hung parliament. There is now no chance of the Conservatives winning a Commons majority.

  13. I laughed out loud at this, post of the day so far I think you are been over nice to the Tory voters in Wales though :winkold:
  14. He was just on 5 Live, what an absolute 100 % total word removed.
  15. Not sure he will get into number 10 as Brown can try and form a Government if he wants. The electorate seems to be getting more intelligent, maybe it's a combination of the debates and the internet but people seemed more clued up these days. Cameron comes across as a liar but even so, with all the money for the campaign he had available he should have won by miles.
  16. It should not be possible to tell what religion someone is just by looking at them for a start (I tend to stay away from really religious people as it clearly shows there is something very wrong with them in my eyes). Now I am not 100% on this but the Burka thing is not in the Koran but that type of head dress is more of a tribal thing. They use the religion thing to try and force the issue and cause trouble in the West as they know it annoys most people and it helps them to promote the "we get picked on because of our religion stance"
  17. I'm not sure I see the point you are making. I don't recall the previous Tory governments record on poverty being any better and I'm not convinced if they come to power it will be any better in the future. Who's Jon ?
  18. On the other hand I don't think lurching from one party to another every generation or so is good for the country either, Labour comes in and wipes away work of the previous government, Tories in and do the same. By the time they get to a point where they can actually change things it's time for a change again. Sometimes I think a hung parliament for a while could be a good thing, I am 38 so I have not been lucky with UK governments in general. It could work better for the long term, smaller changes all in a general direction. I might be wrong but I think Holland always has a hung parliment, not a European power house by any standards but it feels more stable. Do you see what I mean ?
  19. That's pretty cool. I watched a program about dogs and they have been very important in human history and development. They are quite clever in that how many once wild animals end up living 5 star hotel existence in houses with central heating, regular meals and walks all provided for them at regular times.
  20. Is it me or does it seem the newspapers are slowly losing their influence ? Dunno, they are a step behind all the time and the internet and the debates this election seems to be pushing them to the sidelines. With the invention of the ipad's / electronic reading devices I can see nobody actually buying papers by the next election. The daily heil will always be bought by the idiots but the printing a distribution costs could be too high to cope with. I don't know a single person who buys a paper every day, I have not bought one for years unless I am getting on a plane. What is it with double barrelled names, automatically makes people come across as clearings in the woods, or is that just me ?
  21. sorry? OK, i'm left of centre and all, but that is just ridiculious. Why the feck would he be a broken man, after 1 TV debate where he did OK-ish? The comments are out there Jon, Cameron with all his millions behind him and the coaching etc basically failed last night. The mud is sticking and for him some of it is coming from his own people - I tell you a bet on Ashcroft's bitch as the next Tory leader - easy money How is it ridiculous ? I can't find anyone who said he did well and as I said he can't change how he actually is for the next 2 debates or his overall personality in the future. It does not matter how much rich peoples money is spent on "Dave", you can't change him, therefore broken in my eyes and millions of others I suspect.
  22. The other side of the coin is we would never have seen Clegg perform as he did, he deserved the chance and he took it. That performance will get a lot of people voting LIB, the sad old jokes on the TV ( Have I got news for you for EG) take the piss out of the Lib constantly by saying the they have nothing to say or offer look a little silly now. I know what you mean about the X-factor side to it but it was always going to happen and maybe it gets more people out to vote, that is a good thing I think overall. I think they are here to stay now. The good thing is that "Dave" is a broken man now, in the next 2 if he performs the same, finished...if he comes on and is completely different in personality to tries to act like a normal non Eton person....finished. He looks lost with out his bird by his side.
  23. It will never happen now, I was a little worried for a while but last night killed em off I think. In a country that judges 1000's of people on TV shows every week putting "Dave" on telly in front of millions of normal people was probably not the best idea in the world to be honest.
  24. I actually felt embarrassed for him and his supporters last night at one point. He is shifty for a reason, it dawned on him at one point "I'm ****ed". For a bloke that tells us he has met everyone currently living in the UK I find it strange that I have been fortuante to have never met anyone even remotely like him. SPEND HOURS / MONTHS / YEARS POSTING ON THE INTERWEB "Dave" IS THE MAN SPEND MILLIONS ON POSTERS TELLING US "Dave" IS THE MAN FINDING OUT IN FRONT OF MILLIONS THAT "Dave" IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE THE MAN Priceless
