  1. Excellent result. Ukraine were poor. England were effective. I think if Jack plays and gets fed properly he shows he is the best player on the pitch, and England score more. But Mount's defensive contribution provides England with more security. I have come to the conclusion that because Jack is carrying that shin injury, isn't training as much as everyone else, and hadn't returned to full fitness come the end of the season, Southgate doesn't want to risk Jack starting a game, and it getting to extra time and he has no subs left. Jack is the impact sub in this tournament.
  2. The problem with a total maverick is for everytime he gets your bum off the seat for an exciting piece of play you get twice the amount for what the f are you doing. The amount of times Traore beat a man and could put someone through, but instead chose to beat them again, and again, and again then lose the ball. Mega Frustrating.
  3. Carew was a swap for Baros, and in no way was seen as our biggest signing since Collymore. Ashley Young was 9.5 million, then Milner was 12.5m and so was Downing at 12.5m. All of them bigger signings than Carew.
  4. This Mourinho bully stuff is rather exaggerated. Lingard admits his lost his head, and he wasn't applying himself. I don’t believe you can pin that on Mourinho. Shaw is a good player, but he does make some bad decisions. He had serious injuries, was playing poorly and lacking confidence, before Mourinho even walked in the door at Man U. Mourinho was actually trying to cajole Shaw and Pogba into being more responsible on the pitch, he tried many different methods, for publicly supporting them to public criticism, and who knows what else behind the scenes. Ultimately those two and then Ali were players he didn't feel we're working hard enough, and / or showing enough tactical discipline. And he was right when looked at in the context off; what he wants from his players and how he sets up his teams. Mourinho football requires quality defenders that have lots of discipline and high concentration. He has lacked both at Man U and Tottenham. Both teams were in decline before he arrived there, so I think it's best not to write him off just yet. No I wouldn't want him at Villa I don't want us to play like that.
  5. I regard to Sabitzer he plays for a champions league team, and apparently has champions league teams interested. So I doubt he'd sign for us. I'd sign him in a heartbeat, real hard working, creative, excellent shot on him and decent on set pieces also.
  6. I don't dare to make that kind of comparison. Seen too many exciting prospects fall be the way side.
  7. Carney is tall, athletic, and has excellent technique. As he fills out and get stronger and if he works hard on his fitness and gain experience he will go from strength to strength. Massive talent, just needs to make sure he works hard enough to do his talent justice. The greater the talent the more work is needed to develop it. Literally anything can happen with him. He could be a better version of Bellingham, or end up like the Moore brothers.
  8. We're even less likely to sign them then we are Tammy. All of those links (including Tammy) are just lazy journalism. Everytime I see winks I think nice passing range, but $hit at everything else. And press him hard and he starts miss placing passes. As for Cantwell I just think his technique is sloppy, he tries to do shit Jack does, but lacks the quality. He will at best be a midtable player.
  9. I personally am very grateful for Southgate's caution in regards to Jack. Jack is still carrying an injury, and his fitness isn't where it should ideally be. This is why I sense a reluctance to start Jack particularly in knockout games where extra time is a distinct possibility. The last thing we as Villa fans want is Jack's shin injury to flare up and spend another 3 months out. He will probably need a full month off after the tournament to rest his shin. Then another month to build back his fitness.
  10. This is why it makes it even more imperative that we keep hold of him. His marketing value and draw will bring more fans to the club, and more revenue. We will be able to sign more sought-after players, and so he actually has the chance to drag Villa with him to the top table, providing the owners are smart, and happy to keep spending.
  11. Foden and DeBruyne had 36 starts all comps, and Mahrez had 37 starts in all comps. Pep likes to rotate his players. Jack's stats Compared to Foden (who played 9 more games) are clearly superior, so it baffles me when people talk about Foden starting ahead of Jack. Jack is also clearly a more complete player.
  12. I feel like a lot of fan hate on Sterling unfairly. He is a very good player, with good stats for several consecutive seasons. And the best manager in the world rates him. He played well tonight. If you play Kane, you need a player good at running beyond the striker and this is why Pep always plays Sterling. He doesn't have Jack's quality on the ball, but not a single English player does. I felt the 523 / 343 was the wrong formation to play. I still think England would have been better with Jack as number 10 and one less central defender. But it got the job done. The fact is if Muller scores that great chance it's 1-1 and anything can happen. Small margins. This was a 50 - 50 game where we got the luck.
  13. If England line up with 5 at the back they will lose. You should never change your system three games in. This is just dumb. Shows a lack of faith in the players as well as the system. It would literally be the stupidest decision he has made as England manager.
  14. I think Alvarez is a confident kid, with plenty of high pressure experience, having played in the Copa Libertadores and being part of the national team squad at the Copa America. He would have 2 fellow Argentinians at the club to help him settle, and a style of play that would complement his style of play. So in terms of settling it should be pretty quick. How he adapts to the premier league is another question entirely.
  15. I think 2 runners from midfield, overlapping fullbacks and Watkins working the channels give a ton of movement for Jack and Buendia to create for. I feel that will make us a very hardworking creative and a with movement very hard to pin down.
  16. You see I don't see playing the double pivot as our primary formation. I believe a 6 and two 8's is currently the most likely. Now if we get ESR maybe I'll change my mind.
  17. And we have Chukwuemeka and Ramsey coming through. Now a top class defensive midfielder I won't say no to
  18. Mbappe has had a nightmare. Thus match is going to haunt him.
  19. Only one of them. Ironically they still have Konate and Upamenco in reserve who are potentially the best of the lot. Never been convinced by Pavard.
  20. England haven't conceded a goal yet! Belgium look pretty good to me.
  21. Lenglet has had an absolute stinker. And am I the only one that thinks Varane isn't as good as made out to be?
  22. It's like Wilson's salary. I found reports of 100k, 77k, and 46k. F know which one is true. 46k is less that what he was on at Bournemouth apparently, so that would be surprising. Often clubs offer Big signing on fees and performance bonus' to compensate for a lower salary. So working out what players are actually earning is very difficult.
