  1. We better not try to 'protect' what we have. Cus we're crap at it.
  2. Rome wasn't built in a day... ...cuz James Milner wasn't born yet.
  3. We did. He was clearly being sarcastic there...
  4. I know you didn't care for Milner's and Sidwell's performance, but come on..... 11 players is better than 9.
  5. so... er.... exactly which one of these signings was Barry's replacement? The only signing that hasn't left me underwhelmed is the one that is injured until December.... And he plays in the same position as our best player. Very, very, very disappointed.
  6. That Robertson for O'Neill substitution was a master stroke.
  7. Man.... Can't we get SId to spend a month or two with NRC... He'd be awesome if he could pass...
  8. See... a little more urgency, more pressure, and suddenly they're not walking around us.
  9. Agreed, Carew has put himself about a bit whilst Heskey hasn't contributed much... I'd give young Weiman a go alongside JC. At least, we've drawn level - hopefully we can sort ourselves out and grab another early in the second. (Can't see it but you never know!) On my stream they keep saying Emily Heskey. Picture aint too clear, maybe it's his sister?
  10. Being taller means you're closer to the sun though... and we don't seem to play well when it's warm it seems.
  11. Didn't see the game. Just got home and came to check the result. Very disappointed. In a way, I am glad. Maybe if we did well, MON might think 'Hmmmm... maybe we don't need a creative midfielder after all...' We had a major lack of creativity even WITH Barry, so I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised to hear we created practically nothing. Please, please, PLEASE can we get someone in who can make us TICK. Pass, move into space, and be ready to get the ball back. WANT the ball, and POSE A THREAT of a killer pass. Someone who can make our forwards BELIEVE that if they made an intelligent run, the ball may actually get through to them.
  12. If you had a fit bird, would you try it on with 2 ugly birds knowing that you could get caught, and lose your fit bird... and maybe not even get anywhere with the ugly ones?
  13. So if we lose at Everton and crash out of the cup we won't lose any momentum then?... No, we won't. Not in the league. Remember... there's an OPTION here in this poll. Of course I'd rather win all 3... but there isn't a little radio button with "win all 3" next to it.
  14. No brainer for me. Beat chelsea. a) Momentum is very important, and I don't want us to lose any of it. Beating chelsea means we win another game, and chelsea lose another game. Effectively 6 points. c) Unless we go on and win the FA Cup winning our next game is pointless. d) As above, but for UEFA cup. Hell, I'd take a draw against chelsea and lose both them.
  15. I am actually baffled by this post. You've actually just tried to explain to ME, what EVERYONE has been telling YOU over the last 9 pages. YET you saw fit to start a thread with this opening statement Talk about doing a full circle and contradicting your previous 8 pages of posts. You've obviously failed to grasp what I've been trying to say to you all along... I'm NOT saying JC is better than GA I'm NOT saying Fernando Torres is a poor striker What I, and nearly everyone else in this thread is saying to you, is that the stats you quoted don't mean ANYTHING. John Carew being out the side is only ONE factor amongst MANY (Milner,Sidwell,Shorey, the formation, the weather etc. etc.) that have changed in between the two sets of results you have quoted. Yet you chose to use those stats to blame HIM. Now, you think Gabby has thrived playing up there by himself? How about If I told you that he has scored in only 2 of 10 games where Carew has been missing? He had 6 goals in 10 games before Carew got injured... I guess at the end of the day, the most obvious statistic is at the top of this page... 94% think we miss him. Goodnight.
  16. Doubt it. Gabby makes goals out of nothing. Carew doesn't. Based on what stats? The stats CLEARLY show John Carew to score more often than Gabby when he's on the pitch. Look, I'm making a point here - I too would also start Gabby ahead of John Carew. That is because of what I have seen so far this season. NOT because of what stats do and don't say. In fact, you just blew your whole arguement out of the water and proved me right. You're using STATS to 'prove' we are a better team without John Carew (as it suits your personal opinion) When the STATS 'prove' John Carew to be more effective than a player you favour... you choose to ignore them. Point proven. End of discussion.
  17. I can't be bothered right now - but I think the Stats will show that (according to Laursen77's statistical method) James Milner or Steve Sidwell are the best Villa players ... I might check them ones up later... and then FINALLY we can close those hate-threads.
  18. Also, ALL that your stats show is that we have improved since we moved to 4-5-1/4-3-3 whatever you want to call it. You COULD argue, that with JC's better goals/minute ratio, we would be even better if we dropped Gabby and played JC upfront.
  19. Actually, the most obvious point is: Gabby trained for 10 minutes all week and was unwell - but we had noone who could replace him. Too damn right we miss Carew. Oh, and here's another stat for you... Gabby.. a goal every 208 minutes. BigJC... a goal every 170 minutes.
