  1. This always does it for me
  2. http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-championship-div1-2014/engine/series/691689.html?view=pointstable any of the top 4 can win it...
  3. yes 100% agree, you get the fight in test cricket but not in county cricket much...
  4. I think you are right...A return to form for Barker. He has been bowling crap most of the season so good to see him back in form...Patel doing the business 2nd innings. A bowler short as well with Wright getting injured...
  5. We won the cup in 1920 and 57. The FA Cup had equal importance with winning the league in those periods...We were good in the 20s and early 30s but Arsenal were better...Came 2nd twice in more recent history...
  6. Actually just looked it up and he captained Warwickshire from 1980-84 and in that time played and captained England... No central contracts then. Players had to play for the counties in between tests....
  7. Did he? must have been very rare he captained Warwickshire - \i don't thin ke was ever the club captain, though maybe he stood in on occasion? He was made county captain in 1980 and captained us to the sunday league title. I also know he was captain of the side in the 1984 b&h final. He captained England as well.
  8. Yes personally I think he can get back to last seasons form and I'll be dissapointed to loose him. I think relying on an 18 year old to fill the gap is a little risky... Javid has struggled this season. Jim Troughton had major surgery in January and came back but has had back problems again...What with Westwood, porterfield and an out of form Chopra we are not that flush for batsmen to allow Evans to leave...
  9. Bob willis did indeed captain Warwickshire and England...Difference between Ostler and Evans is Ostler was a local lad who came through our academy. Evans we signed from Surrey and i can see him going back there... He was pissed off about Giles holding his career back by not picking him and now he's playing 2nd 11 cricket... With Trott in the side and the emergence of Hain they may think they can do without him...
  10. To be fair its hard to judge a young player who comes into the side in the t20 format where the pressure is on for him to score quickly. Even Trott struggled in the two matches he played...We have some good young players but until they make the stepup from 2nd team cricket to the first team we really don't know how they are going to adjust. I've seen it all before we players like Luke Parker, Navdeep Poonia and James Ord who scored bag loads of runs for the 2nds but didn't make the stepup... Obviously Hain is an exceptional talent, Javid did well last season but is struggling this season. Laurie Evans had a great season last year and was offered a 3 year contract, which he didn't sign as he was holding on for something better. The club have just withdrawn the contract offer so chances are he will leave at the end of the season. Pity.....
  11. Yes Webb is 22 and Hain 18. I'd say Freddie Coleman is a better prospect than Webb as well. i did see Webb get a 100 in a t20 match for Warwickshire 2nds....
  12. I wonder why England never tried giving J. Anderson the captaincy. Why is it always a batsman. Cook got it too early IMO. He could have done with a few more years of just focusing on his batting. I think Anderson isn't really captaincy material. Swann explained the reasons but I forgot what they were..
  13. Yes he''s qualified to play for England and Australia I think... Hope he chooses England. Best young player Warwickshire have had since Ian Bell and even outdoing Bell at the same age. Has more of a Jonathan Trott style though...
  14. yes those two would be my pick...
  15. Maradona never played for a club team that was even as half as good as the Barca team Messi has played in. If Messi had to play for a team of the quality of Maradona's Napoli, he wouldn't have scored anywhere near that number of goals in a year. Thats so true and look what he did for Napoli. He elevated them to their most successful period in their history.. Messi plays for a great Barcelona team... Anyway the true yardstick is what you do in a world cup.... have to disaggree with you as that would exclude george best. But that is why George Best is never considered of one the greats although talent wise he should be...

  17. England v India in the cricket, 4 Tests to go. Hope they are better than the first one..
  18. Yes but the one really great chance he got he messed up...
  19. The group stage was possibly the best ever but the rest hasn't been that good.. Holland would have made a better final...
  20. sums his final up really
  21. Who is Maradonna? Seriously though at club level Messi was better, international level Maradona was better. But because of your age you are in a better position to judge. Who is Maradonna? 22. Good pick out by ozil there
