My old club St Mirren receive a windfall via Hibs for McGinn now we are promoted

I was just scrolling down this page, quickly scanning it and almost had a heart attack thinking Southampton had come in for him. Don't do that to me!

    Three great features:

    1) Kryten doubting his ability.

    2) @sir_gary_cahill's reputation for slightly grandiose assessments of youth team players being already well in evidence even a decade ago (he wasn't wrong about this one though, was he).

    3) I'd completely forgotten one particular poster and his remarkable ability to spot distant clouds on even the sunniest days.

He's good but he's no Adam Johnson.

  3. Never the most gifted and his positional sense costs us on several occasions. I would say, however, that given we've had so called Villa fans play for the club and seemingly not care, I always enjoyed that Hutton loved the club and clearly wants the best for the club and fans. It's rare these days in football and I'll remember him fondly for the connection he had to Villa.

But he didn’t. We got relegated with him and were 3 years in the championship with him at RB. Main reason I personally believe we went up was because he got injured and a proper right back played.

Lets not rewrite history with this giving his all BS. The amount of times in a game he bombed forward and jogged back at his leisure infuriated me. I actually think he believed he was cafu with the stupid name he was given by fans.

There is no way the worst RB we have had for 50 years should be given a testimonial or even consider a great servant to Villa.

Only think i give him credit for is not complaining and keeping his head down when he was put in the bomb squad.

    Habib Beye likes this.

  5. Looked to have lost a yard of pace this season and was clearly one of the weaker links in the squad towards the end, however even this year he scored some vital goals for us. Wish him well and expect to see him at a mid level championship club next season.

I like both The Villa View and MOMS, for varying reasons. For balance I like James Rushton as well.

Their differing dynamics can be summed up by MOMS having connections with the club in a more 'professional' sense and TVV having connections with the players. MOMS often feels more polished, despite the fact they are aiming for the opposite effect. TVV is off the cuff, often shambolic but always likeable.

Quoted on TVV podcast today, don’t think they were too offended 😆

  7. I notice he’s not even mentioned our promotion on social media. Former players who barely even played for us are celebrating our success and one our current players doesn’t even mention it. I hope Sheffield United come and take him off our hands because as well as being a pretty limited footballer, I think he probably resents us now

  8. Props to him coming on in such a high pressure situation and winning a couple of massive headers. Sounds like he will definitely sign for us and should be a good squad option for us.

Interview with him in today's Guardian. No hint of signing.

It's not actually an interview, it's quotes from his press conference (you can see it in full on the villa YouTube channel) and he comes across quite differently in that, talking about his relationship with the fans etc

Benteke and Fellaini on same team. Is Tony Pulis managing in China now

To be fair i’m guessing that using your foreign quota of players to buy some absolute giants is probably a genuine strategy in the Chinese Super League

It's a hunch he just said so we don't need to start turning and calling people frauds at this stage.

That was referring to Kappa reverting to designing the kits from year 2 onwards, not Fanatics designing the Luke shirt or the upcoming Kappa one.

Try a lot harder, I'd say.  Placing a child on a vegan diet introduces an immediate and significant risk to their health.  It's possible to deal with that risk by careful research, sound planning and good management, but the incidences of harm to children from vegan diets suggests that some parents aren't too good at this.

How many kids are harmed by a vegan diet vs. how many fed a diet consisting of fast food and high red meat consumption. When western society is dealing with record numbers of childhood obesity I'm not sure I agree that the significant risk we should be focused on is veganism.

    What did he say?

Essentially went over the incident at Elland Road again, moaned that Bamford got a ban and their act of sportsmanship wasn’t taken into account and then whinged that they got fined for failure to control their players and said that we were the protagonists of the situation.

  14. Leeds seemed to think they had that one in the bag. From the CEO using his programme notes to call us out to their fans weirdly obsessing over us you could tell that they were already thinking of the final. Losing to them would have been unbearable so I'm very happy they got done over.

  15. Loved the bit last night when Smith was having a moan at the fourth official and you can clearly see the fourth official is threatening to send Smith to the stands. A little nod and a wink to Terry and he takes up the role. Even gave him stick when he touched him.

  16. We were dreadful, played without any sort of cutting edge and our midfield trio which on paper has to be one of the best in the league was completely nullified. Really hope it gives them a kick up the backside before Wembley. Please show up for the final Villa, I can’t take another final where we just roll over.

  17. Just knew he was going to score his pen didn’t you? Actually think he could have done a job for us today. Desperately needed someone who can break up play and add height to set pieces. Hindsight and all that but genuinely don’t think we would have been any worse with him in there.

  18. I'm all over this being a veggie and a Percy pig connoisseur. From what I can tell they are considering bringing in a 'classic' edition back and keeping the rest of the range veggie. All this after The Sun had nothing better to report on its front page.

Imo that's not a yellow card on a midfielder either. It's weird because when a player is on a yellow, every challenge becomes worthy of another yellow.

He went in for a challenge, it was late...it happens. Yellows are given for reckless play and or impediment. Gayle's tackle was neither, just late. He even made an effort to pull out and not hurt the keeper. But like @Dick said, it could have been for an accumulation of offences leading up to that.

I think it’s the other way round. If he wasn’t already on a yellow I don’t think anyone would have batted an eyelid over him getting a booking for that.
