Absolutely shocking player. A central midfielder who can’t defend and keeps getting games despite being dreadful in all of them.
-
Worrying thing for me is that we are getting worse with each match. Most of us wanted Bruce gone because we had no style or system of play. I hate to say it, but after early promise I don’t see many signs of improvement under Smith.

Had a quick look on some Crystal Palace forums to see what the reaction has been. Full of ‘PC gone mad’ and ‘snowflakes getting offended’ type views. They seem a lovely bunch. Anyway, fairly obviously a pretty unfunny joke and a ridiculous response instead of holding his hands up and apologising.

Not sure where we can play all these centre backs. Going to have too many...
It’s fine, we’ll just loan out Elphick and play Tuanzebe at right back. Should work out well.

I thought we were only allowed 5 loans? Its almost as if this correlates with one of those loans being recalled...

I see Fulham have been knocked out at the hands of Oldham. I guess the clappers are back into storage until next year.

Like in the past couple of games it feels as if Bruce is still in charge. I know some of the players have played a lot recently but what’s happened to the high press or trying to play it out from the back?
-
Looks like he’s out for at least another month according to Smith. Here’s hoping we bring in a midfielder who can carry the ball forward soonish or I think we can forget promotion this season.

He came on in Hourihanes position and hourihane moved back so of course he got forward.
Whelans job isn’t to get forward, it’s to be a defensive midfielder. And he’s pretty good at it. Bjarnason is not.
He’s absolutely terrible at it. Hourihane also isn’t great in that 8 position.

It seems to me people are focussed on what kodjia can do rather than what he has been doing when he has played.
As opposed to what El Ghazi can do rather than what he has been doing?

A defensive midfielder who isn’t a particularly good at tackling, doesn’t seem to mop up the ball and can’t pass very well. I actually think his best attribute at the moment is set pieces at the moment.

Got to be. I mean those 2 don’t look like vegan eco warriors, they almost look like normal people to me. Swampy has fitted them up.

Funny that after a number of managers, Stoke still play like they are managed by Pulis. Felt the conditions suited them today and with Grealish out they only had to worry about the wide areas so managed to double up on our wingers and nulify our threat for most of the game.
Still, I'll take the draw and, unlike not so long ago, feel confident that we will play better next game.

I've said this a few times.. but I don't think age should be looked at for loan players. Who cares how old they are if they are only with us for a season?
He could be playing championship football in 5 years or he could be playing for Real Madrid.. right now he is playing for us for one season and is missing way too many chances.
I think the point is that the reason we were able to get him on loan was because he's young and still learning and with players his age there is nearly always some inconsistency otherwise they would be playing for their parent clubs. It's one of those things you have to accept to some extent when you loan in young players. Still, he had a shocking night, I hope he bounces back against stoke.

Thought he was fine today but his inability to command the box means that I can't see him ever becoming a reliable keeper for us. Let's hope we can get Heaton in or if not that we recall Steer.

Now that the dust has settled, I can look back at how a lad who has one of all time highest post counts on here, who played for the VT 5 a side team and who we used to laugh at for his similarity to the 4000 series mechanoid, Kryten, absolutely bossed the game and scored a bone fide screamer at Villa Park. Well played Joe, but do us a favour and save it for sha next time will you?

Love that we look like scoring whenever we go forward, hate that we look like conceding every time the opposition go forward. As much as I like Smith, he needs to be able to get the players to shut up shop and see games out.
-
Amazing goal from Hutton but had to go with Adomah for MOTM, his assists brought us back into the game. We definitely need to get to work on set pieces though, other teams will be watching that game and getting a plan together to exploit the weakness.

Been injured since the first game I think.
No, played the first few, then was dropped, think he might of had a game since and then got injured. Not that I’ve been keeping an eye out and hoping for the worst for him or anything...

Is this a joke? This goal was all Elmo from when he did his man to receiving the return pass and putting in a peach of a cross.
I love Jack and he did the right thing retuning the ball. But there was so much left too do it’s ridiculous to give Jack any real credit for that goal.
Agree, it was a reasonably simple pass and whilst it was well weighted and found its target, do we think if the roles were reversed anyone would be congratulating Elmo and downplaying Grealish’s role in the goal?

It's obvious he is a good and important player, but he needs to be a better finisher for someone that integral in the attacking play.
Surely we can think he's a good player and see room for improvement at the same time ?
Pretty much this. His retention of the ball, moving it into the final third is excellent and will be key if we want to achieve an attractive, possession based style of play.
On the other hand, it’s pretty clear to me that Jack’s final ball and, in particular, his finishing is not of the same standard. Given the progress he made under Bruce last year and with a more progressive manager in place, I’m hopeful we’ll see a similar improvement in those areas this season.

Honestly, Davies looked like Maldini in he debut compared to that.
