wasn't one of their goals (in the second game this season) literally kicked out of Kalinić's grasp? Or am I thinking wrong?
That was Sheffield United.

Imo that's not a yellow card on a midfielder either. It's weird because when a player is on a yellow, every challenge becomes worthy of another yellow.
He went in for a challenge, it was late...it happens. Yellows are given for reckless play and or impediment. Gayle's tackle was neither, just late. He even made an effort to pull out and not hurt the keeper. But like @Dick said, it could have been for an accumulation of offences leading up to that.
I think it’s the other way round. If he wasn’t already on a yellow I don’t think anyone would have batted an eyelid over him getting a booking for that.

The whole 'he has a right to go for the ball' thing is very irritating. You have a right to go in for any challenge, but mistime the challenge and be prepared for a yellow.

Apart from.that one tackle I thought Taylor had a shocker
Not his sort of game. Had pretty much unlimited opportunities going forward but very little defending to do. His nosebleeds near the opposition box were evident

Green against a team sitting deep

Big issues when we've got Whelan ahead of Grealish on so many occasions. Get Hourihane on and get Grealish pushed on. I'd also put Kodjia on for Adomah sharpish too

This is Middlesbrough Vs Us last season in the playoffs isn't it?

Now that Holgate's on a yellow we need El Ghazi to be running at him at every opportunity.

This is the perfect situation for Albion now. Sit back and hit us on the break.

Don't believe he was thinking of the connotations but incredibly thoughtless and don't think the BBC had any choice but to sack him. Funny how many Daily Mail types who constantly witter on about snowflakes are suddenly hugely offended by this though.

Now that the EFL have swept it all under the carpet then he feels like he can appease their fans by appealing to their Neanderthal side. Think I’ve already mentioned it in this thread but Villa got a £200k fine for a pitch invasion after we got to Wembley in the FA cup. SHA’s poor security on Derby day lead to a player getting punched and they haven’t had any kind of punishment. Unbelievable.

I'd be tempted to start Davis if Abraham remains out now..
For anyone who didn't see it, the quality from both teams was there, despite people saying that it was a friendly-esque affair.
They fielded their best XI because they wanted to go up as champions, and until their second goal the game was contested.
I don’t really get this point of view. I like Davis, but he has 2 goals from 39 games in the league. He’s strong and offers something different but Kodjia has now scored 3 in 4 and looking like he is coming back into something like his best form.

Unless he can knock the ball past the defender and beat him in a foot race he just doesn’t seem to be able to get past his man. Problem is Adomah is even worse and Kodjia can’t be guaranteed to fulfil is defensive duties. Only having one really good winger is the biggest weakness in our squad right now.

I thought the curse was sitting on the bench for every club he’s played for?

Well normally when a designer designs a shirt, they will also design the fit. The designs then go off for manufacture. They are two separate processes.
You seem itk regarding the arrangement though so perhaps you're right.
From what Rob has said about the relationship it sounds as if Luke had a lot less to do with it than everyone assumed.

Am I right in saying there was no action taken against SHA at all? Crazy that Villa got fined £200,000 for a pitch invasion beating a rival to get to Wembley, yet no action is taken against a club when one of their supporters assaults a player on the pitch.

If we are going on form he should start ahead of Abraham but it's tough to drop a player who has scored 20+ goals. Got a feeling Smith might fudge it and put him on the wing.

Also think it deserves mentioning that Smith bringing on Kodjia at half time was a masterstroke. I think it's fair to say that most of our recent managers would have tried to hang on at 1-0 and hope for a goal on the break or from a set piece. Love that we didn't predictably capitulate like we have done in similar circumstances before.

McGinn excellent again, Elmo very good and thought Kodjia looked back to somewhere near his best. Thought Abraham was very poor by his standards, hopefully playing against his old team will kickstart him again.

Can anyone confirm how many minutes they were in dreamland tonight?

Pick the same team v small heath. You don't change a winning side
You do when that team played 3 days ago. McGinn for Whelan and possibly Green for Adomah for me.
