Absolutely must beat Barnsley next, will be a tough game! They're on a bit of a run

They've won one game (against Sunderland) since the 4th November, so exactly the sort of game we will lose.

Yep I don't disagree with that bit (today certainly wasn't an off day)

What I disagree with is that he works best with a partner.

The formation we played today is our best formation and Davis has been key to that this season. His ability to hold the ball up and bring the attacking midfielders into the game is why we have a winger who scores nearly every week.

I don't like us playing 4-4-2 and I hope as strikers regain fitness Bruce isn't tempted into trying it again (beyond times when it's required tactically of course)

I know what you mean and I would agree more if our central midfielders were making runs off him more consistently. I feel like Adomah has mainly benefited from running onto through balls rather than Davis' hold up play but regardless, I think we can both agree we could do with a striker or two getting fit sharpish.

    I disagree entirely.

Fair enough, that's what opinions are all about. I probably didn't emphasise my main point which is that having a youngster as our only fit striker is a worry because ultimately he will naturally have poor games as well as being knackered from the championship schedule. He's doing very well but we can't rely on him solely because he's bound to have his off days.

  4. He's young, inexperienced and seems like he generally suits playing another forward. Really need another forward fit to play alongside him as I don't think we can rely on him alone for much longer.

  5. I just typed out a whole paragraph about how she should deal with her marriage first before you consider a relationship and then deleted it because it sounded a bit preachy. I think it's probably better to tell you about my experience being on the other end. I've been in 2 long term relationship in which I was cheated on. Both times I now know I was basically described as a poor boyfriend with little in common with my girlfriend. This was definitely not the case as both times we were extremely close when we first together (similar to how you describe your relationship now) but of course after years things calm down, routines set in, little gripes are not uncommon. I'm pretty sure that in both case they told the other bloke involved how terrible the relationship was not only to make him feel less uncomfortable about it but more importantly make themselves feel less guilty. Both times they were sleeping with me whilst tell the other guy that we weren't sharing beds or that we'd completely grown apart.

I can look on it now and see that clearly it was for the best but at the time it was heartbreaking and can still say that it affects me a decade on.

Its probably worth pointing out that in both cases they are not with the person they broke up with me for despite them apparently being 'soulmates'. Ultimately it's up to you how you play and most of the time people go with their hearts rather than their heads in this situation but as others how pointed out it's not a particularly unfamiliar story.

My advice in my original post ended that you should take a step back and see what decision she makes about her marriage before you get any more deeply involved, I'd still recommend that becaus ultimately she should split up with hubby because she's unhappy with the way that relationship is going, rather than because she wants to be with you.

Haven't posted on VT in a while but our first born arrived early on Saturday morning, the missus nearly gave birth in the bleedin' Uber on the way to the hospital, only had time to practically kick off her trainers and get on the bed before he made an appearance!

Have averaged around 2 hrs sleep per day sense, am sick with worry and can't imagine the day where we could put him down to sleep on his own - BUT wouldn't take it back for a second, without doubt the happiest day of my life was seeing him arrive into the world. My old man is convinced he's some form of lucky omen given the two Villa results since... brainwashing is starting in earnest.

Don't worry that gets better. Have you got one of those next to me cribs? One of our best buys, didn't settle well in a Moses basket and didn't want to risk co-sleeping. They're not cheap but have a decent resale value.

If you're like me everything is new and a bit scary at this stage but give it a few weeks and it all fits into place. They are not as brittle and vulnerable as you think and they calm down (a bit) once they are used to the outside world.

Enjoy it while you can, they get big quick!

  7. Good first half, poor second. Not much has changed, but at least we are picking up the points now.

Kodjia is so important for us, one of the only players we have who seems to be able to carry the ball, set up the first and won the free kick for the second. Bruce better pray he doesn't get injured again.

  8. It infuriates me that he takes so long to make a change. We score and should be pushing for the winner instead we wait for Bristol to make a change and until it's too late to really have an impact on the game. I'm not surprised that we aren't particularly pushing for the win when our manager seems happy to play for a draw and keeps talking us down.

Thought he was ok. Wouldn't have brought him on admittedly, but put himself about a bit.

Agreed, should have done better with that break down the left.

Yep, pretty much this. He definitely brings energy to the team but his end product needs some work.

We've been linked with Joe Lolley. Would be absolutely mad seeing a VT'er playing for Villa.

Didn't some of the lads on here play with him in a VT five-a-side team? Would be incredible to see him in a Villa shirt, fingers crossed.

  11. I know it's obvious but 2 things were very evident. Firstly, we are awful at killing off games when we are on top. If we expect to go up we need to be much more ruthless. Secondly, we were blowing after 50 minutes. All this talk of how hard the training for pre season had been but we handed back the momentum to them in the second half and allowed them into the game.

On a sidenote, Hutton was excellent and definitely deserved MOTM.

  12. Genuinely gutted James Richardson and producer Ben are leaving Football Weekly. Making a new podcast with Iain Macintosh so hopefully it will just mean an extra football podcast each week but can't help but feel it won't be quite the same.

Thing that I noticed most about him is that he doesn't mess about and is very direct and likes to get the ball across early and Hogan seemed to instantly benefit. I was also surprised how good he was in the air in terms of winning flick ons.

I read a Hull forum when we signed him and a few members posted that Bruce used this as a definite tactic, aim the goal kick to him and more often than not he'd win the flick on.

  14. Wife is into second day of hospital as she is being induced. Man, this part is dull. Who would have thought there would be so much waiting? Suppose I should appreciate having nothing to do while I still can.
