Percy just said he’s not a target.
Yep and out of all the journos he's been the most reliable about our transfers. Time to move on I think.

Nice to have someone in the team who you back to win most of his headers. I dont feel like we are going to concede from every set piece when he's in the team

My hope is he didn't turn into a bad keeper over night and it was nerves before. But then what is more sense than a Premier League relegation battle
I don't think he was prepared for how much you need to command your area in leagues like the Championship either. For me he's generally been a good shotstopper with very good distribution but terrible command of his area.
I'm hoping a combination of having someone with the leadership of Mings in defence and the right coaching will have helped him.
-
I was one calling for him to get a chance but he looks like a player who knows he's already leaving. The need for a quality striker in this window has just increased massively.

Another good cameo. Let’s hope he’s matured into a solid keeper. He always had strengths to his game but used to be terrible at commanding his area during set pieces, he seems to have improved in that area since coming back into the side.
I wonder how much effect Neil Cutler has had on that. Given how good Steer looked at the end of last season, he seems to be doing some excellent work with the keepers.

One other thing, seeing Westwood was a great thing. Reminded me why I had no time for him in a Villa shirt. Does nothing going forward, doesn't do enough defensively and his set piece deliveries are generally poor.
Very happy to see him taking that free kick from just outside the box as I knew that was no chance he'd score that.

I was certain he was going to flap at that corner at the end. Very happy he proved me wrong.

A few pointers from the first half:
We've been very good, back to free flowing football and Jack hurting teams in the final third.
How good is it to have Mings back? Just looked so much more organised.
Burnley have been dreadful, they won't be that bad in the second half, we can't afford to sit back and let them come at us.
A lot of talk of toxic fans at Villa Park, but the atmosphere at Turf Moor is far worse than its been all season at VP.

Starting the new year with playing in this complete abomination.
Hate this kit. Really hate it.
It's a marmite kit, I really like it.
Anyway, going 5 at the back is generally a welcome change but just wish we'd tried it while Targett was fit.

Injured i assume?
He posted something on his Instagram with the emoji so maybe just illness. Hope him and Mings are back soon because I still believe when they are both fully fit they are our best centre back pairing.

That might be because some fans think he needs encouragement?
The same fans were giving dogs abuse to Luiz.

According to Whoscored he had 59% passing accuracy, the worst of all our starting players today.
Had the least amount of time on the ball of all our starting players today with 2.5%.
Won 2 out of 4 aerial duels, made 1 tackle, 2 foul,s 1 offside and had zero attempted shots, on or off goal.
I don't think he was our worst player today but equally he was hardly involved and almost constantly out of position.
50% of headers won must be a new record for him. I’ve heard a lot of people saying that he’s a scapegoat and the fans need to get off his back but all around me he got backing throughout the match, getting an ovation every time he closed them down. On the other Luiz and El Ghazi got pelters pretty much every time they touched the ball. Funny how differently people see games isn’t it?

Whoa, watch your tongue. That 22m pound striker occupies the defenders you pay good money to go and watch.
3 Hail Marys for you.
HE CANT CONTROL THE FUCZXKING FOOTBALL PEOPLE
This is the worst thing for me. If you have a striker who doesn't score very often, he has to be good at winning and holding onto the ball. He usually gets outmuscled, at which point he throws himself to the floor. When he does win the ball it usually pings off him straight to an opposition player. I also can't remember someone so tall being beaten to so many headers either.
I want him to succeed, but it's ridiculous that he's playing so poorly and starting every game at the moment.

Just rewatched the replay of Heaton's save for Willian's free kick. I hadn't realised how well he had done to follow up and get ahead of his man. A relatively small detail but it's the sort of thing we usually don't do well. I suspect if he hadn't been on the pitch we would have lost 3-1.

Problem is he gets his place back against teams where we have a good amount of possession and some time on the ball. When we are the team who is sitting back he offers nothing, the game just completely bypasses him.

Very interesting to see people on social media wrestling with the fact one of the men who they called a hero yesterday is a convicted murderer themselves. It's almost as if it's not as binary as heroes vs villain after all.

Absolutely laughable that up until a few games ago McGinn wasn't a guaranteed starter for Scotland. The fact that he rated Tshibola probably tells us something about his judgment of players though.
-
Mourinho appointed. I've just a look at their forum and it's generally very positive about him. I think they might be in for a shock.
-
Wasn't at his best today but ultimately it's a clean sheet and Pope hardly had a thing to do. At home we conceded 3 against this team.
From a Villa point of view, 90 minutes without an injury and another cap under his belt can only be a positive.

Currently 20% off player printed shirts from the Villa Store. Thinking of getting the third shirt. Is the general consensus to go a size up on the non elite fit shirts?

Not a bad shout.
Smith should be ready to replace McGinn at some point because he will be out on his arse after 65/70
I'd be more worried about Trezeguet to be honest. Has he completed 90 mins in the league yet? And he's running around like a madman. Problem is no winger to replace him and there's no way I'd trust Kodjia defensively.
