  1. I never understood people getting on Dougie as if he was total garbage. And just like I said a few days ago, it took massive interest from Arsenal for Stevie to look at Dougie and say, "Who? The guy sitting on my bench? Guess, I better give him a try then"
  2. Totally agree. Dougie was linked with a few big clubs during the summer. Now, Arsenal factually wants him. Yet, it seems like a lot of people having been saying he's garbage for some time which I find very amusing. A manager can make or break a player by not using him correctly. If only one club wants a player who we think is garbage.. fair enough. But Dougie was linked with Juventus, Atletico and now with a move to Arsenal, 3 clubs which I would consider vastly bigger than us, but like a lot supporters, Gerrard would rather have him on the bench, that is, until a big club starts calling.
  3. And lastly... this is the problem of playing against cupcake squads during the preseason. You really don't get a true sense of the a player or team against minnows you easily beat. I know it can't be easy but we do need to play better teams next summer to gauge the level our of players heading into a season.
  4. Gerrard will whine and cry that he needs more money for more and better reinforcements, yet Scott Parker with less money and less talent out-coached Gerrard. You can argue that Smith would have had a better result today because at least the team would've come out more lively.
  5. This is why I'm not a big believer of giving former big name players their first managerial job with a big club (Zizou an exception although it would've been tough to mess up with that Real Madrid team). Lampard, Gerrard, Ole, etc.. I love more the road John Terry has taken as an apprentice of sorts. Sit and learn from an experienced manager and slowly build up your experience are resume. Can't honestly say there's a big difference between SG and Deano.
  6. It won't happen, but Porto's Luis Diaz would look great in Claret and Blue! His wiry and electric style of play would be amazing with Coutinho and Buendia to compliment. A 3-headed South American attack like that would put a lot of fear in a lot of PL defenses.
  7. Things could obviously change after this match, but you can't honestly say SG is a far better manager than DS.
  8. Get Marvelous out.. drop Grealish to mid... bring in El Ghazi wide
  9. Because you know Bruce heard the score today and couldn't help but smile...
  10. Posted it during match.. and it certainly applies after this latest dismal display. I know everyone blamed Bruce and now Smith, but it really doesn't matter who manages this squad, it's just not talented. IMO I put the blame on the clubs preseason economic uncertainty that kept us from buying good players. Once we got the green light, it was Bruce trying to get bits-and-pieces from the salvage yard to compete against teams that had already made quality signings. I know I'm in the super minority, but I don't blame Bruce or Smith because I don't think even Pep can make chicken salad out of this Villa poop.'

  12. True. I'm of the belief that if you're just settling for a playoff, stay home. If the boys aren't of the mental frame "F-that! The league title isn't out of reach so stay home if you haven't got the mangos to fight for what's ours!"
  13. If we have to rely on just one player (Jack) we're screwed! No excuse! No Jack? Grow some Kumquats!!!!!
  14. Wonder if Wolves will start to feel pressure of having large lead only to see clubs like Villa slowly pecking away at it.........hope is a very good thing...
  15. If that's the case, how can Bruce be blamed? All he could do is put players where they should be, then its up to the player(s) to deliver.
  16. hahaha.. I didn't catch that! I guess it does look that way.
  17. I'd like to know what he was exactly asked to do by the people who managed him at Villa, which by the way, have no current jobs, just showing how bad they really are. Guess it doesn't matter anymore as he's no longer here. I'm sure being in the mid table (with game in hand) in the Serie A and starting for the 4th ranked team in the world, he'd agree with you that he'd wouldn't want to play in a charity game for Villa either
  18. He is dong really well. I watch all South American World Cup qualifiers as IMHO are the best in the world, so I've actually witnessed all of his games with Colombia. He was MOM by the Argentina station I watched last night that transmitted the Colombia-Paraguay match. He was great in their last game against then undefeated Ecuador. IMO I don't even think its not so much all the Villa players anymore, I think its the culture, the losing mentality that has infested itself in the players minds. I think they play out of their capabilities in a desperate attempt to turn things around. To say Sanchez, Guzan, Gana, etc., aren't good enough for the team that sees League One in the rear view mirror, please.
  19. Bwahaha.. Funny how he leaves and West Ham looks like Barcelona on the attack and score.
  20. We have mastered the art of "crosses without purpose"... Ayew LOOK UP WHEN YOU CROSS!!!
  21. Amazing how the tide changes once Sanchez went off. It was all Hammers on the attack after that! Of course Sanchez will get the blame for getting injured
  22. Great game by Sanchez tonight in Santiago, Chile against the reigning Copa America champion. Sanchez was one of the players singled out by Colombia boss Jose Pekerman for his play and silencing of Vargas, cutting into Sanchez's diagonal runs and stumping Chile playmaker Matias Fernandez. btw 1-1 final, oh, and that Colombia and Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel MOM would look great in a Villa kit.
