  1. Bwahahaha.. Lot's of papers and TV sports shows here in Chile talking about how Argentina is fortunate not to be playing the "Anti-Messi". Colombia very unlucky as they not only lose Sanchez but also their other starting defensive mid, Edwin Valencia who plays for Brazilian giants Santos. He tore his right ACL during the Peru match. Haha! The Anti-Messi It does sound funny, but it's kinda true. I don't think you need to know Spanish to understand the headline from this recent story on Sanchez. I admit does sound funny, but facts don't lie. http://colombia.as.com/colombia/2015/06/18/futbol/1434594383_952961.html

  3. Sanchez was just named to the Copa America group stage Best XI. However, feel bad for him as he'll now misses the Argentina match due to yellow card accumilation.
  4. What is TS problem with Gil!!????!!!!!!!?????!!!!
  5. Except for that last challenge, he's been really good this match. If he's a liability than what of the others....
  6. I'm getting an uneasy feeling......
  7. Great slide tackle by Sanchez to free the ball the Gabby, and on to Tekkers! Good game by Sanchez so far...
  8. He's really good in Colombia's two-man midfield in a 4-2-3-1 That's not really the same thing though is it? The central of the 3 provides a certain nuisance factor regardless of their work rate and/or defensive ability. It also provides him with a forward outlet not available in a standard 4-4-2 midfield. I didn't really understand his role on Saturday and I was left thinking that neither did he. Are you talking about the "3" in a 4231?
  9. Yes in one or two games but most games he has been sloppy in possession and what was he doing for the first goal. No effort at all Think he suffering from trying to adapt from the English game. People can say what they want but if you look at Sanchez, Gil, Di Maria, Falcao (although it was Monaco, but used to the Spanish game), etc.. I don't think it's coincidence. Some adapt quicker (Costa) but some don't as fast. IMO I think he needs more matches, but maybe not now, as all matches are crucial at this point.
  10. He's really good in Colombia's two-man midfield in a 4-2-3-1
  11. It's as if Gil and Sanchez are being punished for recently being hand picked by PL. Each had a bad outing in their recent first team selection, but not enough to be stashed on the bench. If I'm either, and I see TS selecting Cleverly and/or Zog, I'm quitting to become a postal delivery boy because it makes them worse then them.
  12. So Sanchez has a mare against Arsenal and Gil has a bad match against Stoke and their now plain terrible? WTF! They're both still getting used to the league. Jesus.. Gabby has had years to get up to PL speed and he STILL GETS PICKED FOR FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL!!! It amazes me that Sanchez is good enough to be an easy first teamer for the 3rd ranked team in the world, but not for Titanic Villa!?!?!
  13. It's frustrating thinking that Gabby is on while Gil is warming the bench... Hope he comes on and scores, then he can't be dropped so easily. EDIT: unless he's unfit like others have said. If I'm on the bench, and Gabby is on the pitch playing, I'd be thinking about how shite I must be and contemplating retirement.
  14. So wait... Sanchez is an undisputed starter for the 3rd ranked team in the world, but not good enough to start for Aston Villa? No wonder why we're so shite.
  15. To be honest, I've supported Lambert. I was of the belief that what he was trying to do was build something that at first would be painful but in the end would flourish. With Lerner giving him limited funds he was trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shite. But when he decided to give Gabby a new contract I said, that's what he believes will make us better? Then as the weeks went by, the losses mounted as did the clean sheets by the opposing teams. Now after today's match, I find myself sipping battery acid with salt on the rim, as I lay in a the tub juggling a plugged in bread toaster wondering why the football gods hate us soooo much!!!! I know most wouldn't agree, but bring back Gregory for the stretch run.
  16. Benteke and Gabby might as well been holding hands in the first half as neither gave the other space. Gabby is useless and unfortanelty Benteke and Delph look as if they want to play somewhere else. Except for one dire pass the almost resulted in a goal, Sanchez was class as was his old Elche partner in the middle.
  17. Here's hoping he turns out to be far more use for us than Hadji was! I was genuinely disappinted that that didn't work out as hoped for. Also didn't realise he was the manager of the Morocco national side. Unfortunately, Hadji was past his prime by the time he got to Villa. He was an amazing player during his peak. I guess you can say the same thing about Merson.
  18. We haven't had anything close to resembling something creative since Mustafa Hadji, so I'll hold judgement. It's sad that this club has gotten me to the point where I'm cynical even when I should be positive.
  19. We can't afford him, but Sanchez's teammate with Colombia, Juan Quintero would be an ideal number-10 for this club. He's amazing with the ball. His problem with Colombia, James Rodriguez plays his position. Still, Pekerman manages to use both "10's" on the pitch at once. He currently plays for Porto. Check out his goal against Argentina (:45) at the South American Youth Qualifiers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8VbhRKlq9M
  20. It's the same ol' same ol'. We can have Falcao (actually we could've.. dumbshite MON) Messi, Ibra, etc.. up front but we don't have a midfielder who can spell c-r-e-a-t-i-v-i-t-y!! We've had decent strikers in recent years but no one to get them the ball. In fact, IMO the last mid we've had in the past 15 years with a smidgen of creative flare was Hadji. Even Nobby, who's not a true 10, in his only one season, had enough flare to give JPA his best season ever with Villa. Freakin' christ Lambert... get someone in there!! Porto's Quintero is a magical player but we probably can't afford him. SHITE.. at this moment Id take WILD E. COYOTE.. if anything..he never got that stinking bird. but at least he's CREATIVE! Peace out, gents!
  21. I know most of you missed the USA Mexico match due to the time difference.. but I just wanted you guys to know that Brad was stellar for the U.S. against Mexico in Mexico City. He really did look like the Brad that plays for Villa... saving the team save after save from a loss. Considering Mexico was 68-1-6 all-time at Estadio Azteca in World Cup qualifying.. Brad was maybe the biggest reason the U.S. came out of Mexico with 0-0 result. He was very composed in place for the injured Tim Howard. He wasn't rattled at all despite 100,000 fans in the attendance. He was superb with his feet and made some superb point black saves and was commanding coming out of goal on crosses (even knocking the wind out of a Mexican player who laid on the ground for several mintues) Mind you, Mexico did miss some easy sitters but not Brad's fault, it had more to do with a young American defensive line which let guys like Chicharito and that little idiot Giovanni Dos Santos get behind them. If Brad was MOM-A... former Villa midfielder Michael Bradley was MOM-B
  22. I guess you can add any "massive" club to that occasion. That's why, although it wouldn't happen in a billion years, I'm really rooting for Atletico Madrid this season. So why did the guy stop supporting Man United?
