  1. Frank Rijkaard would be an exciting appointment, and if true I can see this being GH's choice.
  2. Indeed, this is exactly what I meant. Like it or not, the next era of Aston Villa FC won't be welcomed with the same level of excitement and hope. Why? How do you know?
  3. Not according to this isnt Odds checker Sky bet have Moyes even money. Let the Spanish revolution begin.

That is the same colour as Barney the Dinosaur's ball bag.
  7. What nonsense. Right, we should all forget Randy's football decisions and be thankful his made our catering better. We get it! We get it! You keep bashing Randy over and over.
  8. That is not true, complete myth. Evidence ? The general said after MON left - that they wanted someone loyal - as such anyone who had to be 'prized' from another club wasn't the type of guy they were after. All In the generals thread last August\september As a poster said above, Martin Jol admitted "strong" interest from us about the manager's position, so that contradicts your information. The time of the season also had an impact on attracting a new manager from another club.
  9. That is not true, complete myth.
  10. Has Mark Hughes signed a contract extension at Fulham yet? If not, I seriously believe he will be taking charge of the club in June.
  11. WWE does not value their titles or in ring product. It is not that surprising to me that they made the decision to give Christian a two day title run, it is the WWE's way nowadays.
  12. He was not my first choice, but if he makes a return I will give him the summer to transform the club's fortune. I have a feeling this summer is going to be epic.
  13. McClaren is woeful. I remember some guy throwing his season ticket at him in disgust after we thumped them.
  14. We were never going to get Makoun and Bent?
  15. If Jack believes in himself he will make it in the game. And hopefully that will be at his football club Villa.
  16. Shame he hasn't got any Premier League experience. He's clearly a good manager for Norwich but that doesn't mean he'd be good for Villa. I don't know what everyone sees in Lambert tbh.Granted, he is a risk to appoint as manager. But people have seen Paul Lambert rejuvenate a dejected and free falling club in League One and managed to transform them into Premiership team within two seasons. That is a phenomenal success which ever way you want to view it. Paul Lambert deserves all the praise he receives. Although Lambert would not be my first choice, I would not rule him out completely for the job. The guy has potential and something special about him IMO.
  17. If we appoint a new manager Ireland may become an important asset for us. I would not write his career off just yet.
  18. We must remember MON was strongly rumoured to be leaving months before he actually did resign; he often teased in his press conferences about "the future" and discussing his future with Randy. Obviously making no guarantees that he will be remaining as manager in the future. And some of the players were expecting MON to leave, I think it was Bannan that made a comment about MON's departure in an interview. So it is fair to suggest it was in his mind long before any firm arrangements were made between him and the board. As for Martin's quotes. I seem to remember his quotes often being contradicting and ambiguous. It was hard to deduct what he meant at times, such a riddling person. Also an interesting point I recall was when a poster attended a end-of-season event and reported MON said goodbye to everyone at this event, like he was due to leave in the near future, before his official departure. If I remember correctly he (MON) mentioned at this event the possibility of Mark Hughes being his successor at the club. And when Hughes was appointed Fulham's new boss, MON resigned shortly from his position at the club. Surely a coincidence? Or was it a conscious decision made before hand? You decide Bicks. They may be more details to this situation. But at this moment in time, I stand by my knowledge and the football club I love and support. My firm view is: If you are not with us, you are against us. You do not need to lecture me about the ethics of the modern Footballer/Manager. They are, as you say, in the game for their own individual purposes. My original view was in respond to the vast majority of Villa fans who backed MON during his tenure as manager with terrific support, and all I said was it was a shame he did not reward those people that gave him that support. You say supporters need to realise the ethics of those who participate in the game, but surely the same applies to those individuals? I remember MON's famous and insulting quote last year - "What more do they want?" - like he was doing us a favour being our manager. I guess he forgot briefly about his exceptional wage he was paid to be at this club. It is they, more than anybody, that need to remember they would not have a career in the game if it was not for the supporters.
  19. Does he not want to retire? He did not enthrall me when he was with Everton, and I can not see him helping us progress in the future if he was appointed.
  20. Because we've all heard both sides of what went on haven't we. We don't know what went on, so I'd keep an open mind if I were you. Exactly, we do not know what went on between the Board and MON. But as I see it now, MON decided to leave five days before the season started for his own reason, and certainly not for the good of the club or the supporters. MON let us down, simple as. Really warped perspective of what it is to be employed if you ask me. Because you don't know what went on you clearly can't make that judgement call. What if something went on that made his position untenable (hence the tribunal coming up soon!) Anyway that has bugger all to do with this topic so its best left alone But all the indications to this date point to MON being told to work on a different financial budget from previous seasons. Is that such a big deal? I mean it has not discouraged David Moyes finding ways to compete in this league, if anything it has earned him praise for his perseverance. Anyway, all I know is MON "resigned" five days before the season started and the rest is fair speculation IMO. My original point was he did not return the terrific supporter he received over the four seasons at this club, and I still stand by my view.

  22. Shame MON did not return the support shown by our great supporters this season.
  23. And the players have been perfect all season.
